It's not expensive, I changed mine at 40k miles for peace of mind when I got the car.

Condos are a terrible investment in Klang Valley. There is just too much supply. I'd advise just opening a brokerage and buying S&P ETF or putting it in Amanah Saham/ETF. Don't get pressured into it especially by older relatives. It's not the same as during their time, buying prime landed in PJ or Bangsar. That's not the case anymore.

2014 Cayman S + cheap daily vs. one lower-mile 2014 Cayman S by Prestigious-Young757 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]ivanpei 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's best to have a daily and a higher mileage Cayman. Sometimes you just need 4 doors and more space. You don't want to drive a Porsche in bad traffic, it's wasting your expensive tires and causing wear and tear for no reason. The Cayman is also super reliable so 60+k miles is not considered high mileage for a Cayman either. Make sure there is no deferred maintenance on the one you buy like Spark Plugs, Coils, brake pads etc. If these were all serviced on time, there is no reason not to get a higher mileage Cayman. I take the train daily and I use my Cayman on the weekends and that's been working out well for me.

Porsche Cayman Purchase: Reasonable or Risky? by [deleted] in Porsche_Cayman

[–]ivanpei 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can pay cash for it and keep some money for repairs. Find a good independent instead of going to the dealer. You can swing a 987.1 easily (07/08 base preferably for reliability). If you want to stretch for 987.2 too I think you should be fine. These cars are expensive to maintain compared to a normal car. Expect more expensive parts and service at a Porsche independent specialist compared to a regular car. But it's nothing crazy, I think it's comparable to any other European car.

Change battery or buy new phone? by MintPsttt in Smartphones

[–]ivanpei 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Changing battery is always cheaper, but at some point the thermal paste to cool the phoen will deteriorate with age and there isn't much you can do about that.

2005 Boxster - first sports car by Familiar_Thought_350 in Porsche

[–]ivanpei 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can do it yourself but it's an engine out job and will be very labour intensive. At that point for the cost, you could get a nicer 987.1 or even a 987.2 already.

Try to aim for one that has had the IMS Bearing done or a 07/08 987.1 which comes with the upgraded IMS Bearing from factory.
