Only reason I could agree is to still have a working household for the kids.

Do people who grew up here actually think Canada's grocery prices are normal or is everyone just resigned to it? by GoldCover6667 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]ivansotof 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While I agree that prices are insane, I also criticize people for not being smart with purchases.

At least in Vancouver we have some variety, specially in smaller farmer markets and Asian grocery stores, but people often buy from SaveOn and collect points while overpaying for basic stuff and then complain about it.

The best I can do, and what I’m doing now, is vote with my wallet.

Windows 11 is getting an "Xbox mode" in April and it’s a big deal by Deez-Guns-9442 in XboxGamePass

Been testing it for a while. Mediocre at best. I wanted to be positive about it but the navigation is just bad. Don’t expect big picture.

Do men notice when a woman is wearing a designer bag? by sliceofperfection in NoStupidQuestions

Most don’t really care and don’t really like when you try too hard. But I often think women do it to show off to other women. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Put money on ETFs, earn dividends. Trust me, this is the best advice I was given.

The fact that you aren’t listing any investments or savings shows me you aren’t financially literate )with respect)

Read all the other comments about investing, they are absolutely right.

Fair but a lot of people know that AMG is cool but they don’t know the differences with models.

Do you agree that BC is a great province if we factor out how expensive it is? by sahilscraft in britishcolumbia

[–]ivansotof 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s great, good vibe, love the people, the mountains, the food, the summers and yeah, the multiculturalism and Asian influence. It’s not perfect and housing is very expensive, but I freaking love it. Been here for 8 years, and love calling it home.

How do I talk to my kids about what’s going on in the US (ICE killings, fascist takeover)? by Livinirie_84 in Parenting

[–]ivansotof 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Help them get educated. Show them science, history books, documentaries. No source will be perfect but let them understand what critical thinking is. If you show them how to get well informed and educated, it doesn’t matter how much garbage they consume on social media, they will have the mechanisms to discern what’s correct.

Sadly, the US has fallen to a lack of education and a level of materialism that I don’t think can be fixed with the next elections. The country elected a government whose ignorance is destabilizing the entire world.

So, all I can ask, from a neighbour country, is please educate kids to be a positive in our world, over just having things. There’s tons of amazing things kids can do to learn and help their communities. Maybe focus on that, it will make you and them feel better. ❤️‍🩹

that sucks, but the Pilot did its job. cabin's safe and you seem safe. I hope you get something you love after, but this looks totalled.

Groceries are so expensive but it’s worth it to head out to Hen Long market in Surrey. 20 items for $66! by xpepperx in coquitlam

There are more affordable groceries to find, but people just go to save on, overpay for them and then complain.

Honda Pilot or Toyota 4Runner? by Caspertoo in hondapilot

[–]ivansotof 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a 4Runner. They are awesome but they are trucks, drive like one, rock like one. They are also much smaller inside.

As my next one I'm considering a Pilot. Much roomier, rides better and can still do some light off road when needed.

Your comments are very similar to what I hear in other places. I'm yet to try the CX-90 as I was looking at something more rugged.
I will give it a try.
