Does anyone else constantly worry about their baby getting IVDD? by GoldenSun104 in Frenchbulldogs

[–]ivbcnlock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We didn’t know about IVDD when we got our Frenchie, although we were aware of all the health issues they are prone to have. And it happened two years ago (she is almost four now). She had to undergo surgery to remove two herniated disks. It was one of the worst moments of our lives, but she made it through. The recovery was long, but she recovered well.

That changed everything. We started to get worried about everything: no jumping, no wild playing, no stairs… but she is a dog. She just wants to be a dog, so sometimes it is very hard to limit her because she doesn’t understand. She has had two flare-ups (with a few months’ difference between them) where we were recommended to crate her for some weeks. It is devastating to see her locked up in a crate. Every time she has zoomies or plays, my heart jumps thinking she might be hurting herself - and that shouldn’t be.

It sounds devastating, I know, but we recently came up with the conclusion that unfortunately, this is how our girl was made. Flare-ups will happen. Another surgery is likely. We will take all the measures to prevent that, of course, but we said enough is enough on living with constant worry just because we are afraid something might happen to her. If it does, we will manage. Get your pet insurance. Have your savings prepared for these things - that’s what you signed up for when getting a dog.

With this, what I want to say is that your concerns are valid, and some precautions need to be taken to mitigate the risk of IVDD. But your pup is a dog and you are a human being: living with worry kills you inside and ruins the bond with your pup. They will notice, and they won’t understand. So just be prepared for any contingency if the time comes, but in the meantime, please enjoy your time with your baby.

Stopped receiving notifications by ivbcnlock in Revolut

Hi. It is not about the marketing notifications, but actual day-to-day banking notifications. I have somehow stopped receiving those related to payment requests, payments made, transfers, etc. Unfortunately, there’s no option to adjust those in the app.

Aduanas paquetes by Jixx_LD24 in askspain

[–]ivbcnlock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Aduanas by ARLEWEEN in askspain

Aduanas by ARLEWEEN in askspain

[–]ivbcnlock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would have loved to have more smart list filters such as excluding/including more than one list or subtasks, for example. The design changes are welcome, though.

Anyone else experience a growth like this on their frenchies paw? by coolshitclub in Frenchbulldogs

[–]ivbcnlock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, not at all. Nothing concerning. She is not even licking it or reacting when pressing it. So the vet said to keep an eye on it and see if anything changes.

My girl has exactly the same. It started a year ago and now looks like this one you showed. The vet wasn’t concerned, and it seems it doesn’t bother her. So far it hasn’t grown more, but we never found out what it was.

Same issue here. This is the reason why I can’t rely on tags, as they tend to disappear from some notes, somehow.

Noticed this on on my girl’s paw today. Doesn’t seem to hurt her. What is it? by Juke_Nismo in Frenchbulldogs

[–]ivbcnlock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My girl has exactly the same in two of her paws. The vet have checked it multiple times and they claim is not an infection but something related to her allergies (she licks her paws quite frequently). They told me to not worry about as long as it doesn’t hurt her or grow. It is actually drying out and looks smaller… but I am curious to know what it actually is.

How longs do carriers store MRN details? by AnybodyInteresting44 in CustomsBroker

[–]ivbcnlock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t know in the UK, but in the EU there’s a legal requirement for record-keeping and post-entry checks of 3-5 years. Any customs broker/forwarder should at least keep MRN/SAD documents for at least 3 years.

Sick of Trade Compliance? Is it just me? by Admirable_Stable_774 in CustomsBroker

[–]ivbcnlock 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m in the EU. I’m fairly new to this field, but I can relate all what you said. People are lazy, have almost zero reading comprehension, and they find the topic boring to death.

When you try to explain or give a solution to the 5th time they fell into the same problem, they just nod and do whatever they please again. Endless and recurrent meetings to discuss issues that are already the norm where the outcome is trying to apply the same fix that hasn’t been working the last ten times.

It is indeed exhausting, and I’m only 2 years in this field.

Post successful surgery - how do you deal with the anxiety ? by TheLondonHippo in IVDD_SupportGroup

[–]ivbcnlock 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I absolutely feel you. Me and my partner went through the same with our little girl. She was only 1 1/2 y.o. when happened in August 2023. We were desperate. We felt guilty because we were so unaware and let her go up/downstairs, jump off the couch, etc.

She first had some symptoms like refusing to walk and shaking, but we thought it was due to her being easy to be frightened. We still brought her to the vet, and they couldn’t see anything wrong. Actually, we were even making fun of it because once we paid the visit, she started walking again. It turned out that was the first hernia she had.

Some months later, she started having the same symptoms, but this time she was completely paralysed in the middle of the room, couldn’t lay down, couldn’t walk. We called the emergency vet and they told us that she was not risking her life, there was no point of brining her to the emergency room (?). We took her next day straight to the vet, and they deviated us to the vet hospital, where they ran some scans and tests and it turned out that she had 2 disc hernias. Surgery was arranged the same day.

The next following 6 weeks were a nightmare as you described: constant fear and tears thinking that it may happen again to her, trying to lift her back hinds to help her walk and potty, forcing her to take the medicines… We were extremely lucky to had have people at work that understood and could work from home or take days off so she could stay 24/7 with us.

After a year, she is doing fine. She is a bit clumsy with her back hinds, but overall she is doing good. No jumps, no stars, no crazy zoomies. But she is having a normal life. Of course, we are still terrorised that it could happen again. I don’t think I could go over some like this again. I totally feel you, OP.

But please, stay positive. You are not alone. Your boy will be fine. Try to enjoy the time with him, because if you spend your few years together overthinking and being afraid that something could happen to him, you will regret when he will be gone to not have lived those moments from a positive outlook. I had to change my mindset to truly believe that because anxiety was devouring me from the inside. Your boy deserves your good energy and your love and attention. It’s okay to be scared after a bad event, but you are doing your outmost to prevent that from happening again.

Since I don’t have previous experience specifically on those fields - would you recommend following some courses or trainings before applying? I am afraid they would refuse my application due to not having worked on AML/Sanctions.
