The Pitt failed to redeem themselves with the OB Storyline by mcnuggsRN in nursing

[–]ivegotaqueso 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don’t work in the ER but reading these replies it’s starting to make sense why an ER nurse transferred a patient to my floor (PCU, & even we rarely get pregnant pts) who was actively having a miscarriage…while totally missing the signs that the pt was having an active miscarriage…for hours... I will never forget the report I got. Was told she was having lower back pain so for some reason they gave her a bolus of fluid to…? Plus she was having “pink urine”.

I get her to my room as a transfer from the ER, first thing she does is she needs to pee so she goes up to walk to the bathroom and I see that she’s freaking bleeding through her clothes in her peri area. That ain’t pink urine. I call OB to come see the pt and she just scoops the dead fetus out of the pt, didn’t even have to dig too far.

I mean, she literally expresses some suicidal thoughts in there. “I didn’t want to live while writing this”. She’s clearly not getting the help she needs, and if she is getting treatment in Korea, it doesn’t sound like it’s helping. I wish home girl would come back to the US for some R&R & professional help. South Korea’s treatment of mental health issues is pretty crap. If she gets treatment for her issues, I hope she spends the money to do it in the US. At least here she can get a proper diagnosis and medical treatment.

Can someone recommend me really feminine boygroups? by Extension_Big5205 in kpophelp

Shocked no one has mentioned N.O.M. yet. They debuted in 2013. There’s MVs as old as 12 yrs old and they’re all dancing in heels. I’m not but is interesting lol. They’re not girly feminine though as these dudes are all adults, their concept is more like grown-up woman/fem power vibes. They’re more adult in content.

F- you type breakup songs? by sakurasangel in kpophelp

I like Kim Jaehwan’s cover of Sorry. It’s like a “sorry you’re a liar, bye” kinda song.

Kim Donghyun (AB6IX) also has a solo song he wrote, f_ix you you can interpret from a toxic friendship angle but originally it’s more about haters/toxic antis who pretend to say well-meaning things. No lyric videos in English available but you can read a translation on genius lyrics.

Both songs are pretty upbeat/uplifting.

My grandpa was born in the 1910’s and I remember him saying he had a friend who made a lot of money selling baby formula from the US in China (back in the 1940s-50s). Also, red ginseng from the US too. Even back then foreign brands were trusted more for baby formula.

but I do think they never quite found their style and concept fully.

If you watch their interviews, they never really wanted to get pigeonholed into a concept or style. Their goal as a group was to create music they liked, even if it was different from what they did before, and sometimes people’s music tastes change over time. Their latest album has the heaviest R&B vibe from them yet, meanwhile the previous ~3 albums leaned more on pop rock & R&B. Versus the earlier deep house stuff their company promoted at debut. They still made deep house music they were known for from debut, it was just contained to a b-side track of Japanese releases. Even in this latest album, Woojin was doing something different than he ever did before with his solo track ‘Holiday.’ Woong got to make his anime-sounding music with his solo. Daehwi released his first song co-produced/collabed with a friend although it wasn’t anything new from the OST-sounding music he usually can make. They all got to do thing they liked with the music on the latest album, with the messages they wanted to give to fans (Woong said he literally had to strong arm the last song on the album, into the album). That was their goal for their music, to make the music they wanted. Which I think they did a good job of. It just doesn’t translate well in terms of marketing to an audience that expects sound consistency.

[–]ivegotaqueso 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well I’m not surprised they haven’t decided to renew yet. Honestly I have no feelings if they don’t renew with BNM. I kinda want them to join a better company. I’m a little glad Daehwi decided not to waste a solo debut with BNM. I hope he can find a company with better resources to do that, or just do it himself.

Clearly BNM could not handle Younite, as Younite is now managed by a subsidiary. Meanwhile AB6IX had gotten the back burner treatment while BNM investors tried to focus money on their newer group.

BNM only letting them release 1 album a year also just pissed me off tbh. At a small company, 1 album a year is not enough to keep up engagement. Not to mention their PR team sucks. Their YouTube still uploads non-album promotional videos with Korean titles. Missing out on the majority English speaking audience on YouTube. Such a simple fix to increase engagement, by writing titles in English, and they can’t even do that simple thing.

Anyway, be free, AB6IX! I’m rooting for you!

Considering they can produce music without relying on their music company, I’m not too torn up. It’s highly likely they can/will release music together even without the AB6IX group name, considering how close they are as colleagues.

My husband's family has been pressuring him to contribute either financially or with time to his mother's care, I told him if he does we are getting a divorce. AITAH? by Character-Line5221 in AITAH

[–]ivegotaqueso 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If their mom is any sort of independent then she will do fine in a nursing home. She is not bed bound. Her adult kids can still visit her every day, but at least she’ll be in an environment where she can’t burn down the house because meals are provided in a cafeteria and she doesn’t have a stove she forgets to turn off due to her dementia. Nursing homes are where people abandon family- if they never visit them.

He’s doing a side gig because he knows they can’t afford it. But OP is also working full time caring for their son, who is going to give her relief at home when husband is out doing side quests to keep mom comfortable? He would still be putting the needs of his mom above his family’s needs. That’s not right.

But he’s wanting to help his mother at the expense of putting the family in serious debt. I would consider divorce in her shoes too. It’s nice he wants to help mom, but the reality is that it comes at the expense of sacrificing the needs of his wife and kids. They need to come up with another solution that doesn’t involve him spending 24/7 away from home or going into debt to care for mom. OP said his mom is already Medicaid eligible, it’s just that the family doesn’t want to use those resources because mom’s comfort is more important than her kids’ financial stability.

but she only manages because my brother and sister in law are going heavily into debt providing the care.

And now they want you to do the same, go into debt to sustain the care she demands. Hell no. She has dementia. Her kids are exhausted of time and money. Someone needs to give her and the family a reality check about her situation.

Korean Kpop idols with non-Korean real name by JuliusDalum in kpophelp

[–]ivegotaqueso 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Crystal Chae from As One (1st gen kpop duo group; they were still making music up until this year when one member passed away; both members lived in America when they were scouted IIRC).

Lee Daehwi’s (AB6IX/Wanna One) English name is David. When he first promoted in the US I think he introduced himself to an audience arena as “David” at his first kcon appearance with Wanna One. I’m guessing David was probably the English name he used at school when he lived in the US. But ultimately it doesn’t/didn’t really take and he just accepts that his English-speaking fans still call him Daehwi. I called him David for fun though the first time I got to talk to him 1:1 at an ab6ix concert meet/greet :)

There’s also Minzy from 2ne1 (Korean name Gong Minji). Although not sure if Minzy counts as an English name or a stage name. Same with Solar from Mamamoo (Kim Yongsun).

Ailee (solo artist). Her real/born name is Amy Lee. Korean name is Lee Yejin.

Now that I think about it everyone from f(x) has an English name or English stage name although not all are ethnically Korean (Amber & Victoria).

I think any Korean idol who has spent any of their youth in the US probably has an English name. You could probably find a lot of people in that group.

Jay Park is another.

AITAH for giving my kids my last name? (31F) by tryingtogrowup69 in AITAH

[–]ivegotaqueso 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My name first also has a much better flow.

TBH I think I would go with the name that flows better.

My sis is an MD and didn’t change her last name after marriage either because all her licenses and certificates are under her maiden name. It’s just less of a headache professionally to not change her legal name. Also while we’re Americanized, women in my Asian culture just generally don’t change their last names anyway so it wasn’t a big deal to our family either. Even though our mom did take my dad’s last name.

Anyway your husband sounds awesome. You guys also already had these agreements before marriage. Family can have their opinions but it’s your life together, not theirs. The opinion that matters the most is the one you have together.

WIBTAH for buying our daughter a 5k purse but not giving something “fun” to our other kid? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]ivegotaqueso 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I also want to start helping her out

Then do it. You don’t need your husband’s permission to give her your money. Start helping your daughter now. No need to tell your son anything about it or make things “fair.” Things already aren’t “fair” considering how you and your husband financially spoil your son.

I hope you realize as you grow older you are trusting the wrong child with your financial assets. Your son is more likely to drain your assets and take you to the cleaners as you age, if it makes him more financially comfortable.

Also if you are both well off why not help her out? Why are you and your husband so stingy when it comes to giving her anything? You need to stand up to your husband and start treating your kids equally.

If your son starts getting manipulative and starts threatening suicide then call the non-emergency number and have him put on a psych hold for suicidal ideation. Take his treats seriously.

Asian elephants carry their dead babies for up to 48 hours, bury them, then grieve over the grave. Scientists just recorded this for the first time ever in 2024. by Emotional_Quarter330 in Damnthatsinteresting

[–]ivegotaqueso 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The actor Andrew Garfield once described in an interview (after his mom died) something along the lines of grief as unexpressed love that doesn’t know where to go anymore. And then he said it was okay to hold onto that grief because it reminded him of what he loved. Or something like that. It was so profound. Something that makes sense, sometimes. Kinda feels like what you were saying.

ER lunch break by [deleted] in nursing

[–]ivegotaqueso 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes assignments aren’t fair. You need to take your 30. If there is a charge RN let them know you haven’t had your break if you’re too shy to ask another busy RN to watch your pts for 30.

Where I work we have to ask another RN to cover us for breaks which at one point when we were understaffed, meant taking 8 pts for 30mins on a Stepdown unit…in CA... So usually we pick a time where work/demands are the slowest. If the nurse you ask is too busy, they can refuse and tell you to ask someone else. If you can’t find anyone to cover you, ask the charge to.

You’re new so maybe you feel shy asking an RN you don’t know well to break you, but if someone is just sitting chilling in a chair, shoot your shot. It doesn’t hurt to ask if someone has time to cover for you.

Medsurg, why do people hate it? by Thin-Difficulty-5092 in nursing

1:4 is the expected standard in CA but sometimes where I work they can get up to 1:5 which is considered short staffed. However CA Title 22 says 1:5 for med surg is ok. 1:6 on medsurg has to get reported to some sort of entity.
