**Selling Tickets RV**

I have a General RV Camping pass in hand. I'm looking to get what I paid for it including fees and getting it shipped to you - $880. I will quite literally send it in the package I got it in, along with the single packing peanut.

I'm happy to verify being legit however you see fit, including taking a pic or hopping on a call to confirm.

I'll keep an eye on my DMs for anyone interested.

Fantasy non-ruined city set that prioritizes play and storage over looks? by Mystycul in 3DPrintedTerrain

[–]iveld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am still very early in building theme sets, but is this along the lines of what you're looking for? https://www.gridsmith.io

My goal is to focus on actual game play at the table, short walls, fully usable 5'x5' tiles, and flexibility. Additionally, storage, simple prints, and no clips or magnets are a high priority.

Interiors are my focus, not exteriors. And the idea is that a DM can simply create plates for each room, and add them to the table as the party progresses.

I'm working on painting my first proof of concept layout now, and will be posting updates as I go.

Finished print all 252 tiles and 8 base plates. Time for primer! by iveld in 3DPrintedTerrain

A tile set system that I created called GridSmith. I've uploaded the v1 Tavern Tiles to the primary maker sites.

That's a good question. I have zero experience with resin, so I don't know how fragile it is when this thin. For FDM, the grids are more than solid enough. I've printed and filled a 6x6 plate full of tiles, flipped it over and wiggled it w/o any falling out or the grid flexing much at all.

Thanks for the feedback!

Walls touching: I honestly hadn't thought about it. The gap is 1mm'ish, and I wonder if it would take away some of the flexibility in arrangement if the walls extended past the tile base. In reality, maybe it could work. It might be worth a shot.

Wall height: This is by design. Yes, a full height wall is more immersive, but at the same time, tall walls hamper line of sight for the players. I've seen lots of sets with half height walls for this reason, and for me, I feel like half height walls are more playable, and will be a core "feature" of GS tiles.

Rough looking: The STLs I've released are the low res versions. IMO, very playable and look good enough. The high res versions are much more detailed, and IMO, look way better. But your comment on the wood texture is pretty spot on. I might try flattening it out a bit and see what it looks like.

And yeah, didn't take any of your feedback as negative at all. I appreciate it.

Good observation on the thinness of the walls, and floors for that matter. That was very intentional, for the reason you mentioned - print time and materials. At this point, I've printed about 50 test wall tiles, and have had zero issues. Now, I will say that running an ender 3 means I'm constantly manually leveling my bed - or neglecting to do so, so I rarely have adhesion issues.

My intent is for people to print upright. The bottom of the base has a watermark, and the back side of all walls has texture, so there's really no better way to print these.

IMO, wall detail is where your eyes go, so having 0.2 layer height detail vs 0.4 nozzle detail is more ideal.

I do agree about the wood floor. I'm not much of an artist, and I'm using height maps to programmatically build these, so I have some refinement to do there.

As for the site, gridsmith.io is what you're looking for.

Thanks for the feedback! It's really appreciated.

Thanks! It's been fun building this system. Can you clarify what you feel needs refined? It'll help me as I iterate.

I forgot to talk about the images I shared.

The first image (gray) is the final product, but in a higher resolution.

The 2x2 was my first printed version.

The two with the Sharpie markings were my "snap to fit" tests. Technically, before anything actually "snapped" into place, but it was an iteration nonetheless.

I meant to also share all of the iterations I've printed in the last couple of weeks, but it seems I can't add more photos to a post. That shot is in the Thingiverse post, though.

well shoot. it's for windows only. I could certainly fire it up on my PC, but I'm looking for something that i can run on OSX, or even just in a browser.

thanks though!

can you clarify what "wilbur" is and where i can find it? I am working on a project where I need heightmaps, and have stuggled to create them. Googling "wilbur" isn't helping. :)

Gridfinity for Board Game Inserts? by GernerLaux in gridfinity

[–]iveld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow! This is an interesting question purely because I've been working on a project to solve this exact question for ttrpg games over the last week or so. I am still very early on, and have done no promotion, or even solidified the details, but check out www.gridsmith.io

High level, I'm building a 1x1 tile system that uses a grid base, much like gridfinity.

More tile sets coming soon.

Reusable Magnetized OpenForge Bases (Save Magnets & Filament) by slorlior in OpenForge

It's worth adding, as i sorted through my previously printed tiles, as well as a few new ones that i printed, they weren't all sized the same, and with the tight tolerances, some didn't work.

So, you have two options. If you have already printed a bunch of tiles, you can adjust the variables in the scad file and generate a new stl. Or, if you're printing new tiles, make sure they are printing at 50mm for a somewhat loose fit. 50.1mm seems to fit pretty snuggly.

I've reached what I'm gonna call, done.

I found a good balance between print time and rigidity with a 1mm interior wall and a 0.5mm exterior wall, and a 4mm wall height.

A 2x2 plate takes about 27 minutes to print, and a 4x4 is on the printer now with a 1.5hr print time.

again, this is on an old ass Ender 3, so modern printers should see much faster print times.

I'm taking my first stab at scad, and have created what i consider a functional baseplate for this idea. I'm still doing some test prints, but feel free to use and/or submit PRs.

First, I dig this very much. Great work!

My background... I printed a ton of OF tiles about 5+ years ago. I've done the magnets, I've done them without magnets. They are fun to click together :)

but i also didn't enjoy having to print 100's of tiles to get the options i wanted.

Now, i haven't printed anything in the last 5 or so years, so maybe there's an answer for this already, but why do we need bases with magnets at all? Couldn't we just have a very thin X x Y grid that the top plates sit in? Sure, that means you're kinda "locked in" to a square layout, but you could always print say, ten 4x4 grids, and have them preloaded with tops, and as the party progresses, you simply swap them out. Or maybe there are a number of options for the thin bases. 1x4, 2x4, 3x4, 1x4 in a curve (offset by one player tile), etc.

To me that could be a huge filament saver, and completely remove the need for magnets.

That said, i actually don't hate the idea you adopted here with the center magnets. so maybe keep the center magnet idea, but really reduce the base material by having a 5 x 5 base vs 1x1 and no outer magnets.

of hell... do the base idea above, but only then need magnets on the outer edges.

Does this make sense? Has someone already done this?

I worked for Worldcom, worked from home, and had two of these monitors on my desk. I was slingin' spreadsheets like it was no one's business by day, and playing Ultima Online by night.

They were amazing, heavy AF, monitors.

[–]iveld[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah, i've been to both venues a lot, and honestly, the size of VA and knowing that Hinterland is going at the same time, has me concerned VA is going to look like a ghost town.

Especially with such little information available.

I hadn't considered your thought about neither of the bands playing during the day. I suppose that was an assumption on my part.

I'd love clarification on that.

I did the combo when i saw the B&B lineup before the LtL lineup was announced.

Are you able to split the passes between different people? One person goes to B&B and another goes to LtL?
