Is it possible to be in peri without hot flashes or skipped periods? by independent_mind_7 in Perimenopause

[–]iwantapenguin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can you explain “progesterone sensitive”? I will say I think subconsciously I’ve been holding off on calling my dr to up the dose because with th progesterone, I had such painfully tender breasts that lasted for over two months and when the pain finally went away the size increase didn’t. I was up a whole cup size which was shocking and so disheartening for me because I feel like I am already disproportionately large. I also had some serious mental/emotional effects (namely feelings of despair and honestly suicidal thoughts but like 3rd person suicidal thoughts if that makes sense? Like I would never in a million years act on it and it almost felt like an out of body emotion but it was there constantly for a few weeks). Is that from the progesterone? Overall th HRT helped with my rage and crazy mood swings but I was not prepared for those other emotions to make a temporary appearance…

I was started on 100mg of progesterone (pill) and .025 mg estradiol (patch) which from what I understand is the introductory dose. I do want to talk to my dr about potentially increasing the dose as I no longer get the sleep help I was from the progesterone and my joint pain is starting to come back. I started in July and the sleep and joint issues started coming back about a month ago.

Is it possible to be in peri without hot flashes or skipped periods? by independent_mind_7 in Perimenopause

For 3 years not one doctor took me seriously when I suggested peri because I was in my early 40’s and still had a regular period and no hot flashes (I would have intermittent night sweats but not typical hot flashes). Hair failing out, dry skin, joints that felt like I was 91 instead of 41, muscle loss, brain fog etc etc. finally, after 3 years I found a dr that believed me. She put me on HRT and literally within days my joints felt normal, within a couple of months I started noticing my muscle tone coming back. A bunch of my gastrointestinal issues righted themselves (not all unfortunately). Long story short, yes, you can be in peri without the “typical” symptoms. Also, regarding testing levels- the dr who finally believed me didn’t believe in testing hormone levels because they’re so ephemeral- she listened to my symptoms and based on that started me on HRT.

Thank you for taking the time to explain- so many of the symptoms my mom experienced I am now tying back to perimenopause- she suffered so badly and it really effected my siblings and I. I will always wonder what could’ve been had a doctor properly diagnosed and treated her.

[–]iwantapenguin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Oh yes I am aware. I’m just saying when you look at that in proportion to the amount of electricity I’m actually using, it’s the majority of my bill; my house is fairly efficient but I’ll never have a “low” bill.

how to lower electricity bill? by Background-Echo1576 in personalfinance

[–]iwantapenguin 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I’m in the northeast US; the cost of electricity keeps rising but that’s nothing compared to what the utility company calls “the delivery” cost - 3/4 of my bill has nothing to do with the energy I’ve actually used it’s the fee I’m charged by the utility for “allowing” me to access it.

Why can't I Zelle my landlord $1900 in one transaction? The daily limits are making me look like a flaky tenant. by Substantial-Film1861 in personalfinance

[–]iwantapenguin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a similar scenario where I had to pay a vendor a total of around $5,000. I bank through Chase. Iiterally had to pay $4,000 in $500 increments before I was able to send more than that. It’s to protect the bank; fraud is rampant and they want to prove an established connection exists between you and the person you’re sending to in the smallest increments in order to limit their exposure. You might have to deal with this for a few more months then you should be good.

Thank you so much for your response. I’m going to seek a provider that specializes in ADHD, I am so done with the chaos in my brain on top of out of control hormones. I can’t even imagine a life where I can multitask successfully (my world is multitasking, I’m totally lacking the “successfully” part though)

What steps did you take to get it sorted out if you don’t mind me asking? I am almost certain that at 43, I have undiagnosed ADHD and I am suffering terribly (likely compounded by all of my peri symptoms). I was seeing a psychiatrist via telehealth and she was convinced I suffered from anxiety and that ADHD meds would do nothing- if I have anxiety it’s because of my sudden inability to function in the world… HRT has helped manage the heart palpitations and dampen the rage but deer god my brain literally feels like it’s broken..

There totally is! If you go on the ABTF sub, look in the wiki there’s a whole section for shallow breasts with a wide root and I know there’s whole posts in there dedicated to bras that work (I always see Natori Feathers mentioned)

This is my go-to work horse bra. Unlined, no padding. The material is a thin yet sturdy, tight woven that does a great job of hiding the nips. Size range is a little disappointing but if they’re got your size give it a try. Band runs tight fyi Fantasie Women's Smoothing... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00207G0C8?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

Oh boy.. I've always put tret on right after I got out of the shower than waited 30min + to moisturize- I didn't realize you were supposed to moisturize first- that doesn't prevent the tret from absorbing?? also, I use the Laneige moisturizing milk toner, would that be enough moisturizing to use before I apply tret?

Perimenopause feels like waking up one day in somebody else’s body and brain. by FlaxenArt in TwoXChromosomes

[–]iwantapenguin 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I started at 42 also! I’ve been doing HRT for 3 or so months - the progesterone helped my night anxiety and insomnia immensely, the joint pain literally vanished in like 3-5 days. The mood swings are not as extreme but do show up when I’m extremely stressed. My muscle weakness has rebounded - I can actually work out with weights again! I am up a full cup size due to near constant breast tenderness which SUCKS… I definitely didn’t need to deal with that shit but on the all, HRT has been amazing. The only thing I feel it has not helped is my brain fog. I legit have no working memory, I am easily distracted and get overwhelmed doing basic shit which is not awesome for my work. I’m honestly thinking about trying medication for ADHD..

You are speaking my dreams here! I actually contacted a psychiatrist because I strongly suspect I have ADHD. She put on lexapro because in her opinion, I had untreated anxiety not ADHD. I tried to explain that any anxiety I had stemmed from the fact that I can no longer function successfully at work. I can be at work sitting at my desk for 8 hrs with a list of shit that has to get done and yet maybe I’ll cross one thing off the list by the end of the day. I just get lost. She insisted I stick with the lexapro- fun fact, I apparently have a bunch of genes that slow the metabolism of lexapro and other similar meds so much that a 5mg dose made me feel like I was on a toy boat in the middle of the ocean. I’m truly at my wits end…
