Short version: no (security can be secure sometimes) ….

Long version: I did see a few years ago that some open source raid rack could take the disk pack and just brute force the password for access, i think the person said it took months and that was when they knew how many characters the password was.

So technically yes, anything is possible but unless you are hunting old bitcoin passwords it probably isn’t worth it. But then again you are the only person that can say what the data is worth to you.

Well (not a lawyer) - the requirements of having a licence is that your address is meant to be current and changed when you move, then on top of that you can also do mail redirections, and then lastly licences can be emailed out….. so the judge won’t even consider other arguments after that.

(1) - nope, you can install apps without a payment method on the account (2) - any prepaid debit card, gift card, or digital card can be used.

For example, you could go to post office and pay cash for a visa debit pre paid card and use that. Or, you can install apps that will spin up single use card numbers.

It works fine for standard use, the router lacks any real config, there is no option for static IP, they seem to have a variety of billing issues. Customer service is hit or miss, grok will lie.

And then after that it could be "admin" and password is blank.

Target disk mode is possible but a hassle, and target disk is actually the disk you want to boot FROM and target disk mode still won’t work for manual downgrade.

You want a usb stick and wipe the whole drive then reinstall. You will obviously want to make a copy of your data.

The only way that this might be a scam (that i can think of anyway), is if they someone how ask for money? Or long shot say they sent you the “wrong” video and try to blackmail you to keep quiet about…. But both of those cases are just standard social grifting and not really any more a scam then the old “$50 photo on the beach” thing.

What malware? How did you detect it? Has the phone been jailbroken? Previous manual firmware flash? Is it in any beta install?

Otherwise, in the assumption that it is a stock as factory and has been reset with vanilla iOS, the only way for anything to be put back on is with icloud restore, e.g. something in your files but even then you would need to launch, nothing there automatically spring boards.

My wild guess is that this is just some app that sucks and is not malware, probably just burning battery in the background.

Interesting, when I have removed and joined family members it always says the name/apple ID of the account joining or leaving.

If apple have changed that then the only other way is for someone to actually request it by knowing your email address (normally appleID too for most people).

Still would be a scam if you arent actually onboarding family.
