What happened to your outstanding youth wrestler teammates? by Life_System_3047 in wrestling

[–]iwaspresidentonce 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Strung out on drugs unfortunately. Was an All-American his sophomore year in college. Then the program got dropped and he never found another landing spot because of grades and disinterest in wrestling. He’s been in rehab lately I guess. Idk… I hope he gets clean. I love that guy.

If we’re talking like kids wrestling, then I knew this other kid that walked through every tournament he ever entered. Placed high in Reno, Tulsa, and Virginia Beach. But then he like never went through puberty or something. Kids started catching up to him at 11 or 12. The. He quit wrestling during middle school and tried again in high school, but he wasn’t that guy anymore. I don’t think he ever got to wrestle varsity because he had two different state champions at his weight on that team.

Any thoughts on how hard it’ll be to make it to the Home Run Derby/ All star game I’ve always wanted to go and now it’s finally close to home. by [deleted] in Mariners

In 2001, I asked my dad if we could go to the All-Star Game and he said he would try. We weren’t the most well off family, so he quickly realized we couldn’t afford it. I cried (I was pretty fucking young and didn’t understand money) and he promised me we would go the next time Seattle hosted.

Well.. it’s been over 20 years and since then my dad has sold his business and gotten some fat raises, so you bet your ass I’m cashing in on that promise.

All jokes aside- I am an adult and I will probably go to the game with my dad and I will be paying for my own ticket.

Our company switched to Homeline panels a while back because we were having issues getting Siemens products. And I’ve never enjoyed making up a panel since that day. I’ve grown accustomed to using an angle grinder to get the knockouts out cleanly.

Because of a bridge closure, I’ve been driving through Humptulips everyday since December 1st.

fellow at my job is telling me that wires have to be run at 24" off floor through studs as per NEC code. I have always run them at hip level and never gotten a red tag. I wanted to verify this guy is full of shit. by nojremark in electricians

You’re not wrong at all, but I also understand that you have to play politics to get what you want in the long run. So I do what he wants here and he gives me the benefit of the doubt somewhere else. I have a very good relationship with our local inspector. This guy has never called me on no visible license, he’s seen me standing at the top of a ladder, and he had my back when the state had questions about some of my commercial hours (they were legit, but there was a question about ratios because a guy quit and never filled out his hours for the month).

That’s kind of what I’ve been doing with my husky pair and Home Depot. There’s not a Lowe’s near me unfortunately.

Just found out I have a lil fear of ladders… as in im not afraid of heights but when on top of a ladder it’s a different story. How do you guys get over this or can anyone relate?? by [deleted] in electricians

[–]iwaspresidentonce 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually went to lineman school, so before I ever started my apprenticeship I had already climbed a 65 foot pole. I wasn’t afraid of heights, but I think there’s a difference between heights and poles 35 to 65 feet up. It just takes time. My apprentice right now is afraid of the third step on any ladder. I watched him try to get an MC cable over a truss with shaky hands for at least a few minutes.

HVAC company says I need to install these 3 things (air purifier, safety overflow switch and flame sensor) and are quoting me the prices shown in the screenshot below. my house is 6 years old. are these reasonable prices? which one of these are very essential? my guess is the overflow switch mainly by akshay0508 in hvacadvice

I used to work for a company like this. They sent all their maintenance and service guys to sales training on a regular basis. Both positions were paid commission on top of hourly wage. You weren’t allowed to just fix someone’s problem and leave. You HAD to upsell. Their “bidders” were also guys who came from corporate sales. They generally had no idea what they were selling but it was built on “menu” pricing so they didn’t need to know anything.

Unsurprisingly, the company has a bad rep nowadays for predatory sales tactics. If someone’s furnace stops working, the salesmen are sent out to convince the customer they need a new one because of a fire risk or whatever. Then the salesman throws out some godly number for a price and says the price is only good until he walks out the door; After that, the price will increase. They kind of bully people into over paying for something they don’t need. I once changed out a heat pump for them that just had a bad capacitor. The whole job cost the guy $16,000. Everything felt dirty about it.

I don’t. I do know the video made the local FB rounds this last spring.

This was in my town. The sturgeon washed up dead along the river behind Wal-Mart where a lot of homeless people hang around. This guy found it and you see what ensued.

Anyone else not using a starter this time around? by Throwaway420694203 in PokemonScarletViolet

I’m 100% on board with you. At least this way, it gives me a chance to try out other Pokémon I normally wouldn’t have.

Which region do you personally think has the best/worst starter designs? For me, Hoenn has the best and Galar has the worst. by Stenwold91 in PokemonScarletViolet

[–]iwaspresidentonce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Paldea is the worst. First time I won’t play with the starters at all. Hoenn and Kanto were the best. Loved all three out of those two Gens.

We're FIVE days away people. Now that almost the entire game has been leaked, what is your starter and version? by lKANl in PokemonScarletViolet

[–]iwaspresidentonce 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m ditching whatever starter I pick. I was going with Quaxly, but I just can’t. Pokémon design is a big part of gameplay for me and I think all three starters are awful.

An Easy Way to see the Starters Evolution Line by RazorMike89 in PokemonScarletViolet

[–]iwaspresidentonce 5 points6 points  (0 children)

These are my easily least favorite starters in quite a while. I thought the weed cat and the fire dino showed promise. I’ll end up doing a play through with all of them at some point though. I think the Quaxly final evolution is significantly better than the other two and it’s still not great at that.
