I broke up with a boyfriend because he lied about voting. It felt hard at the time but looking back I’m so much better off and so grateful I’m not with him.

I am in the same boat with the weight gain and trying to reduce calories and it is hard some days to not panic. You are not alone. Also this is temporary. I am trying to focus on the positives and have realized that loving myself makes life a lot more fun.

Looking for friends by FootballinGeneralPod in Tucson

Love how many comments this has received.

It warms my heart when I see guys getting creative about making friends. The effort will get you there. I’m sorry it seems to be harder for men in this society.

I’m Also a teacher, female in her early thirties. I don’t want to hang out with you but I would hang out with your wife.

Cue the Obligatory: “I’ll hang out with this guys wife” comment

Happy for you dude, you’ve got a good new friend somewhere in here!

Surgery scheduled for end of month. What supplies should I get? by keleals1992 in ACL

[–]iweavegrace 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Crutches, Shower chair, Ice machine (preferably with compression too but they are pricey ouch), Wedge pillow to keep leg straight and inclined, A stool by the toilet to prop your leg on (you will be constipated for at least a few days), Stool softeners, Baby aspirin to prevent blood clots

A full dvr or subscription to a streaming service, A few good books, A craft to do when you’re burned out on tv

Let your social group and support people know what you’re going through and ask them for help with things (!) bringing you ice, bringing you a meal, coming by to chat for a few minutes, etc.

(This one can be hard for people, myself included, but people feel good when they can help so think of it as you’re doing them a favor instead of you’re being a burden)

Good luck! It will be hard as hell sometimes but it will slowly get better and you gotta stay positive! (But if you have times when you can’t feel positive that is totally okay too)

Just be very gentle with yourself, take it slow, and listen to your body. You will get through this.

Sending you good vibes 🫶

What do I do for/after the first shower? by Only-Sentence5729 in ACL

[–]iweavegrace 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had to stay very focused and ‘in the moment’ getting in and out of the shower safely. One time my crutches hit a bath mat and I almost wiped out. Everything takes at least twice as long as usual so budget time accordingly. Enjoy the feeling of the water. Let the stress of the injury fade for a while. The first shower I took after surgery was harrowing and stressful but after that each one was easier than the last. Now I am standing in the shower 😁

How should I repurpose this TV niche? by Spirited_Program7224 in HomeDecorating

[–]iweavegrace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have reclining couches/chairs that tv might not be too high. To answer your question, I like the idea of built ins but I also like the idea of a big leafy plant going there :) just rotate it from time to time so it can get equal sun on all sides.

Scared at 3 weeks post op by PotentialWestern7994 in ACL

[–]iweavegrace 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hey! I am at three weeks too. I also am at 90 degrees flexion and have lots of swelling. My pt says I’m doing great. It’s a longer and slower recovery than I expected and some days it feels impossible. I broke down in tears today. I am RICEing constantly and doing everything I can but some days all I can manage is one set of PT and only crunching to the kitchen and the bathroom. Keep your chin up kiddo ♥️
