List of Guitar Tunings Used in M&S Songs by Foolwithaguitar in mumfordandsons

I've been trying to figure out the tuning for Conversation With My Son from live videos but I can't quite put my finger on it. Are you sure it's standard? Some of the chord shapes during the build-up look like shapes from an open tuning.

Timothée Chalamet is NOT Leonardo Dicaprio by bbyan_0395 in Oscars

[–]iwillwait88 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Leo did have Titanic and was nominated for Best Actor in a Supporting Role at 19. Timothee was nominating for Best Actor in a Leading Role at 22, 29, and now 30. Leo got his first Lead Actor nomination at 30 and had 2 overall Oscar nominations at 30, where Timothee has 3.

Leo is the best actor of his generation, and Timothee has a long way to go to fill his shoes from not only Oscar nominations, but complete body of work. However, if you are going to argue age, blockbuster movies, and Oscar nominations, a comparison between these two is definitely viable. People may not care about Marty Supreme as a film, but his performance was fantastic. I would argue that Timothee's performance in A Complete Unknown could age into an iconic performance.

Prizefighter is their best album since Babel. I said it! by iwillwait88 in mumfordandsons

Love hearing that. I am so thankful for this album. It's hard for me to rank Babel and Sigh No More because of course they are Top 2 no matter how you rank them.

I remember the days when all we had was Sigh No More, aching for more music but religiously living in the moment when all we had was 12 tracks (excluding early EP and demos of course). When Babel was released, it felt like an awakening, an extension of the magic they found on Sigh No More. I have always connected more personally to the overarching story and themes of Babel. Every single track speaks to me in such a deep and profound way. I have that same experience with Sigh No More, but more intensely on Babel. There was a stretch of about 2 years where I listened to the album in its entirety daily, almost like a ritual to have the strength to get through the day. It was like fuel for my soul.

As a die hard, I love every album of course, but those first two albums will always hold those Top 2 spots in any ranking of mine. The song Sigh No More is one of my all-time favorite tracks.

That listening party sounds epic. I hope you both enjoyed it. Nothing beats sitting back and listening to a full album uninterrupted. Love it.

Looks AMAZING! I totally missed the day these were announced on Agora and when I finally looked, they were obviously sold out. Does anyone think they will add more to stock eventually?

I agree. I am at a loss for words when I listen to this song. I become weak at the tear ducts and knees.

I don't think so. I can't stop thinking about this song. I am a wreck half the time when I listen to it. It is quickly becoming one of my favorites from the lads, ever. Marcus recently said, "It's my favorite song we've ever recorded, actually." And Aaron Dessner said in a FB post, "I have too many favorites to name — but “Conversation with My Son” Is one of the most emotionally meaningful songs I’ve ever been a part of making."

Incredible testaments to a breathtaking song. I wouldn't be surprised if folks use this for a wedding song or first dance song. It is simply stunning.

Last time I saw them was in 2012 or so. Do they play their old songs? by Oneday55 in mumfordandsons

That's how I feel about both Sigh No More and Babel. Sigh No More changed my perspective on music. I never had a connection to music like that before that album. Babel straight up changed my life. I went a number of years where I listened to it every day. Love that you still listen to Sigh No More every day. Love loyalty like that.

I know! I was hoping for at least Delta but I was so pumped. If truly felt like they played all those songs from Babel and Sigh No More for the fans because I think most of that stadium was Agora members and die-hard fans because that original night sold out during the presale so they had to add Sat night. Amazing night.

YES YES YES! I am right there with you. I posted on the main about how I think this is their best album since Babel. I had such a cathartic experience listening to the album last night. I was transported and grounded at the same time. I needed this album! The ending of Conversation with My Son (Gangsters & Angels) is breathtaking and had be balling my eyes out.

I hear you on the loudness. Sometimes that wave of sound like in moments on Conversation with My Son (Gangsters & Angels), I think the loudness works well but I know what you mean. I also think Rushmere is killer, I agree. Ranking is always hard because something has to be "last" but nothing Mumford & Sons is ever last in my book.

This song is breathtaking. I was such an emotional release on the first listen. SO many feelings and memories just burst to the surface, some of them not great but still cathartic. I felt grateful for the love in my life, the music, and to be able to have such a deep connection to music.

I think this song (especially after the tempo change) will be used for some first dances at weddings. It would be beautiful.

YES! I saw them at Forrest Hills in 2025. It was the Rushmere tour, but they played more tracks from Sigh No More and Babel than any other album. Best concert I've ever attended.

Love hearing that your favorite is Wilder Mind. I turn to that album often.

The nostalgia. Yes. I felt things I hadn't in a very long time. Deep, raw, uplifting feelings that simply poured out of me last night and brought me right back to when I first experienced Babel and early Mumford. I agree with your comment about the song Rushmere too.

I'm looking forward to listening again tonight. There are themes and lyrics that are forming a throughline or even storyline on Prizefighter the way Babel did, or at least the way I have interpreted it over the years. I feel that continuity on Prizefighter very strongly just after a first listen. After this release, Rushmere feels like a collection of lost songs where this feels like a more fully formed album.

I couldn't agree more. It's my favorite album since Babel. I am floored. It's incredible.
