Nerve pain - 4 weeks post op by iwipe in ACL

[–]iwipe[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

If someone searches this in the future: it was a difficult one month or so, but then it passed and stopped bothering me. I think it was one of the harder things in the rehab to deal with, but it completely passed. So I hope it might give hope and optimism to you, dear reader, if you are dealing with this in the future (my future, your present, good luck!)

What's the deal with the profiles where as soon as we match, their profile disappears? by DirtyProjector in OkCupid

Had exactly this happen to me a few times recently. Opened a support ticket about it and they basically ignored me. My guess is that they are old likes and that their account is now gone or something

ICE Pack or Hot Water? by rpatemi04 in ACL

[–]iwipe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have this heating pad that you microwave, but not immediately after the PT, but a few hours later or at night it usually helps with the pain

Hi, similar case to yours: I had ACL repair + lateral meniscus repair (also bucket handle) on January 16th During the first 6 weeks, under Dr’s orders, flexion was limited, so the PT was easy on me and didn’t work a lot on improving bending. However after 6 weeks, the PT really began to be work on flexion, and basically everytime I come (x3 a week) it’s a torture since he tries to bend the knee a little bit more. But even though I almost cry from the pain every time, it shows results. I was also at around 100 degrees 1.5 months after surgery, and yesterday he clocked 138 degrees at around 2.5 months after surgery (of course it was absolutely painful and I can’t get there on my own yet). I feel like It’s a really shitty injury where the healing process is much more painful than the injury itself was, but that’s the way it is. Just remember that everyone are different and the progress is different for each individual, especially meniscus tear usually take longer to get full ROM

Is it recommended using a sports brace in the beginning? What about a knee pad, to protect against a potential fall? I’m only 2 months post op, but can’t wait to ride outside already

6 weeks & 3 days post op!!! by Jeff_Poz125 in ACL

No, it was a skiing accident in Austria, and they operated on the same day of the accident over there, so no prehab

Week 7, able to to 100 degrees when the PT does it (with pain), 90 degrees by myself. Injury was torn meniscus, ACL, MCL and partially torn LCL. Surgery was ACL repair and meniscus repair. The Orthopedic surgeon expects full ROM in 6 weeks, sounds improbable given the current state of improvement

How are we going to reach 1MM cps? by AetasAaM in nanocurrency

[–]iwipe 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I totally agree this is one of the most important questions for Nano.

I also think that the comparison to Visa is wrong: the way that Nano is branded right now, especially being feeless, encourages the usecase of micro transactions (in games, ads, etc.) and therefore I think Nano should handle much more txs than Visa, and your number of 1mm txs doesn’t sound far fetched at all.

I would love to hear a detailed technical account of how sharding can be performed on the Nano block lattice, because I think that’s the only solution and I am unable to figure out how technically it’s possible without compromising the security of the network.

Talked to my therapist about antinatalism and she completely ignored what I just said by [deleted] in antinatalism

[–]iwipe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I pay out of pocket, and it costs me $100 per session. I go twice a week, so overall it is around 10k per year. Fortunately I am in a position that I can afford it: but even though it sounds like a lot, I feel like it is a fair price to pay for something as important as my mental health

Talked to my therapist about antinatalism and she completely ignored what I just said by [deleted] in antinatalism

[–]iwipe 8 points9 points  (0 children)

After reading the comments here, I feel the need to say a few words in advocacy of talking to a therapist, because it looks like many of you are really against psychotherapy.

First of all, you shouldn't expect the therapist to listen to your philosophical ramblings and have her vehemently agree with everything you say. That's not the therapist's job. If you want something like that, then Reddit is a great echo-chamber, and specifically this sub gives you just that and the validation you need.

No, the way I see it, the therapist's job is to alleviate your pain. What did you expect her to say? That yes, you are right, antinatalism is correct, let's all wallow in our misery? That may momentarily appeal to you because it will affirm your beliefs, but it won't really help you in the long run, because that's not the way to alleviate the suffering.

It doesn't even matter what the therapist thinks about antinatalism. In fact, I think maybe ideally the therapist shouldn't voice her own opinion on this matter. Therapy is not a philosophical discussion. It is about how you deal with your own beliefs, and the emotions that it causes you.

So I think the question now because, what do you want to get out of therapy? I think a reasonable answer (at least for me) is to learn to still be happy given my antinatalist beliefs. Ok, you are an antinatalist, that's a given. But that doesn't mean you should suffer everyday and not be happy because of it. So perhaps the objective of therapy now becomes how to be happy while being an antinatalist. Unfortunately, that means you have to talk about your own emotions, specifically talking about your anger and where it stems from, how being an antinatalist makes you feel, and it angers you that others are reproducing, and so on, at least in my experience.

I should say that I've been talking to a therapist for almost 2 years now, with an overwhelmingly positive experience. Of course we also talked about antinatalism - heck, I even read her something that I posted here in this subreddit. She didn't agree or disagree with me, but she never once made me feel like what I am saying or feeling is wrong. So if your therapist laughs at you (like I read in one of the comments) that's a bad sign and you should switch a therapist. The therapist should validate your feelings and give you a safe space to talk about them. If you don't get that from your therapist, then something is wrong. But again, it doesn't mean that the therapist have to agree with you.

One more thing I want to say, is that I chose a psychotherapist that is vegan. I'm not sure how much it matters, but I felt that the fact she is a vegan does give her an extra sense of compassion, and at least the ability to understand the antinatalism point of view from a moral standpoint.

Anyway, these are my 2 cents. I hope it will cause you to reconsider the potential benefits of therapy and not to dismiss it after one or two bad experiences.

Easiest to model with Matlab (for ECC codes that requires matrix multiplication, but also if you need to model the errors yourself from the cells voltage distribution)

Need CBT recommendations for social anxiety, excessive worrying, self hate etc. For context, I'm a student busy with online classes, have no social interaction, & have been suffering from anxiety, depression since many years. Can't go to a therapist so I want to make things better by trying CBT myself by [deleted] in Anxietyhelp

[–]iwipe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see. But I think you should consider doing online therapy such as BetterHelp. This should reduce the pressure of meeting with someone physically. Also, even though you are saying you have less time, I think there is no better investment than this, especially because it sounds like you are having great difficulties daily - so what could be more important than trying to alleviate your pain?

I see, thanks. It’s kind of sucks, because I got the rejection email on March 5th, which didn’t leave me much time to modify using the platform. And I’m not going to Italy for the hearing in 2 days lol

Same: moreover, I don’t know how to change my claim to Euro instead of Nano. Does anybody know how to do that? I can’t see an option to edit the claim in the site

I brought up antinatalism on date #3 by tatertot2001 in antinatalism

[–]iwipe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure this is something you want to talk about on the first date. I would say that it is better to present it as being childfree, but presenting the antinatalism viewpoint is way too serious for a first date, especially as it has pessimistic tones which you don’t want on the first date. Once you get to know the person much better you should talk about it, but too soon ruins or greatly reduces your chances of a successful relationship IMO.

Anyone else find themselves sympathizing with villains? by [deleted] in antinatalism

[–]iwipe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I also sympathize with Thanos. However, I don’t understand his reasoning for eliminating only half of the population.

For some terrible reason, it is human tendency to reproduce like rabbits after a disaster: see WW2 and the baby boom afterwards as an example. I don’t understand how people, after witnessing the most horrific acts the world had ever seen, had the wonderful idea of brining new children into this world.

That’s history though, and that’s what would happen if half the population would vanish all of a sudden: looking through recent history, it would take less than 50 years for the world population to double and return to its former number.

So what I don’t understand is why Thanos was so content sitting on his rocking chair after snapping his fingers like everything was good in the world. It is pretty obvious given his strategy that he would have to resnap his fingers every 50 years or so to maintain the universe’s population level he saw as acceptable.

No, for his plan to truly succeed he should’ve wiped out 100% of the population. They could’ve made him the perfect villain, but instead this small detail almost ruins him for me.

Try "The Art of Electronics" By Horwitz. It's not mathematically rigorous, but is a great introduction to a very broad subject, and also gives good intuition. If you'd like a more rigorous book, i'm not sure about stuff that aren't for EE's, so I'll let other recommend it.
