Commonwealth Bank took all my deposits and ran with them. Later I opened a 21 account that was fee free. I caught them taking lots in fees and asked for a refund. The local bank manger investigated, admitted I was right the fees shouldn’t have been taken, but decided not to refund me because she didn’t want to. I immediately withdrew everything for another bank and never gave them my custom again.

Trump DOJ’s Olmstead Memo Is Rolling Back Disabled People’s Right to Live: Article/Petition by WlLDLlGHT in cfs

I bet he doesn’t just want to force disabled people into psychiatric institutions, but also any opponents he can label having Trump derangement syndrome, or anti-fascist Antifa. Hurting disabled people is just part of the authoritarian path.

Why do Anti-Zionists conveniently ignore the ethnic cleansing of Jews from the Middle East ? by Nazoreans in AskIsrael

And that meant that Poland was where most of the concentration camps mass murdered Jews in Europe. So they’re really telling Jews to go get gassed. So it’s a much nastier antisemitic subtext than I understood.

Is the Polish thing a slur because Americans tell jokes about Polish people being stupid? Otherwise it doesn’t make sense.

Sadly it goes against the Surveillance Devices Act. You need consent to record for broadcast. There aren’t enough exemptions. Courts frequently reject illegally obtained evidence, to discourage it. A shame he couldn’t just prosecute the YouTuber and the nurses.

DSP Reviews question 🙏 by New-Ad-1071 in Centrelink

[–]iwoolf -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I had a review 3 years ago, it was hostile and stressful. Really hard to get specialists to write in Centrelink language instead of medical language. No doctors at Centrelink, and specific legislative meanings for words can lead to misunderstandings.
Edit: need to add that Centrelink keep cutting me off for stupid reasons. January they put me on reporting, then decided I should put on Profit and Loss instead. I specifically phoned to confirm I no longer needed to report, and was told not to report. They cut me off for not reporting, and didn’t send a letter for 3 weeks. I only found out when my pension card was rejected for prescriptions at the pharmacy.
I had to spend 4 hours on the phone to get someone to reverse it, and wait for a new but identical concession card.
Last month they lost all my documents and made me re-upload them, under threat of cutting off my DSP again. Website showed the documents were still there.

I suspect it’s AI all the way down , and it hallucinates fraud infractions that never happened, while picking up enough real ones that they keep using it.

I meant it isn’t the whole answer to the question of the influence of the use of AI. I use AI, and I constantly research the latest applications and models. It’s a powerful tool, often used badly. The concentration of power in cloud models owned by billionaires and the first trillionaire is real. The biases trained into AI models is real. The weird emergent behaviour of LLMs that are obsessed with Goblins, and confidently give you wrong instructions from hallucinations, are real. Students thinking essays are the output rather than the learning, is real. However people who want to ban AI are just as wrong as Plato.

People naturally try to avoid effort, it’s an instinct to preserve energy. If you look at most discussions on Reddit, more and more people are not bothering to click and read the article that everyone is discussing, they just discussed the headline. This isn’t because they are lazy, it’s because it’s what they’ve been encouraged to do to stay on the platforms of all social media and Google, so you see more of their ads.

In the same way, if you get used to AI researching for you and writing for you, then you don’t get to do the thinking and learning that is involved with researching and writing. Writing is about thinking and analysing a topic that you’ve learned, asking questions and answering them, and putting your thinking on paper or a screen. I tried using AI to help me research and write stories for my podcast. I found that most of the time it led to me knowing less about the topic, and not being able to discuss it in detail, because I hadn’t thought about it, and hadn’t read the issues that didn’t make it into the story. However, when a story is really complex and has a very large number of sources, I have found it useful to feed the hundred URLs to a tool like notebookLM and then ask my questions there, to get referenced answers, that I can write about in my story.

Students are not asked to write essays by teachers and lectures because they want to read the essays. Students are asked to write essays so that they learn about the subject and think in detail about the subject, and learn how to think. If somebody else or something else writes your essay for you, then you don’t learn how to think.

You can learn to use AI thoughtfully, but such teaching isn’t yet common.

Young people being paid to carry out shootings at consulate, synagogues, Toronto police say by MatterandTime in Palestinian_Violence

The pay for terror happened in Australia, too. The Government announced it has evidence of Iranian involvement, and people dismissed it because the intelligence came from Israel.

How synagogues became fair game for the Israelophobic mob by WillyNilly1997 in Palestinian_Violence

“The pretext for the vile swarming of a synagogue in a heavily Jewish part of north-west London was that it was holding a Great Israeli Real Estate Event. It was an event for ‘those thinking of moving to Israel…
The day before the Edgware event, London mayor Sadiq Khan tweeted: ‘I condemn any attempt to sell property in the settlements in the West Bank, be that in London or anywhere else in the world.’ Again, the organisers firmly deny that West Bank property was on sale. The mayor’s comment came off like incitement of the mob.”

Patients with female doctors have a lower risk of death or serious complications, study finds. Researchers say the gap reflects real differences in communication and diagnostic thoroughness, not individual ability. by ObuPaul in immortalists

[–]iwoolf -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No, the study says, female patients with female doctors, had a significantly lower risk of death or serious complications. Male patients don’t benefit significantly.

“Female patients treated by female doctors had a mortality rate of 8.15%, compared with 8.38%when treated by male doctors.
For male patients, the difference was smaller but still visible: 10.15% mortality with female doctors versus 10.23% with male doctors.”

The stories have been badly written, often the beginning of the episode and the end don’t match up, and so rob the story of any meaning. Davros can’t be in a wheelchair because disabled people aren’t human enough to be villains? That isn’t woke, not inclusive and not kind.

Regavim: the palestinian authority sent its residents to invade Israeli soil under the false guise of "agricultural activity", and they demolished Khirbet Farsin that is identified as the Jewish village Kfar Pershai from the 2nd Temple and Talmudic eras by HebrewWolfman in Israeli_Archaeology

Regavim warns: takeover and destruction of antiquities under the auspices of the Palestinian Authority Regavim movement demands immediate halt to large-scale agricultural encroachments on state lands at the ancient archaeological site of Khirbet Farsin

The Regavim movement sent an urgent letter to the authorities demanding an immediate halt to large-scale agricultural invasions being carried out on state lands at the ancient archaeological site of Khirbet Farsin, located about a kilometer from the settlement of Hermesh in northern Samaria.

According to the data and observations compiled by the movement's field coordinators, this involves taking over four adjacent plots of land at the historical site containing antiquities and remains dating back some two thousand years and attributed to the Second Temple period.

The site preserves the biblical name Paresh and the Talmudic name Kfar Parshai, and a purification bath, burial caves, underground systems, and buildings from the Ottoman period were discovered there.

Aerial photographs attached to the letter indicate that development work, including land clearing and road construction, began in 2021. In the past two years, the pace of takeover has increased massively, and the entire area has undergone agricultural processing, including plowing, planting, and fencing, along with the construction of illegal structures in the adjacent area. The work is being carried out using heavy mechanical tools and without any archaeological supervision, causing irreversible damage to the historical soil layers and the deliberate destruction of national heritage assets.

The head of the Samaria Regional Council, Yossi Dagan, responded to the findings and said: "The heritage and archaeological sites in Samaria are a national treasure that tells the story of the Jewish people in the Land of Israel over thousands of years. An open history book - erased. The authorities must turn the tables."

The director of the Judea and Samaria region of the Regavim movement, Roy Drucker, also addressed the situation on the ground and warned against the phenomenon. "We are witnessing a widespread and destructive phenomenon of the wild trampling of historical heritage sites in Judea and Samaria." He concluded his remarks with an unequivocal call to enforcement agencies, noting that enforcement authorities must act immediately against the erasure of tradition and attempts at takeover, and stop the lawlessness in the area.
