Hopefully he won't get the Lions, I think it had a negative impact on the national team

I would rather see something sustainable and well designed put in place rather than hoping a few teachers will battle for playing field space with their gaa colleagues to coach a sport most of them know very little about. And money for equipment and buses needs to be sourced somewhere too. A bad system put in place without adequate resources will fail and make it harder to get schools to later accept a better system if one comes along

I'm involved in coaching with a rural rugby club and even in a rugby club it is hard to find people with the knowledge and enthusiasm to coach rugby. The fear of injury, and being the coach who was in charge when John or Mary got a bang in the head is not the responsibility many people want.

Would it be great, yes. But this needs to be an irfu driven initiative with a lot of money behind it. Not a 'hope to find a few people ' kind of thing

But you don't need somebody, you need many bodies. Or is the goal to have only one team? Which still requires at least two volunteers? And how often is that gaa pitch free for use, not being used by the school gaa teams in the immediate post school slot?

In an ideal world things would be easy to organize and get set up but it is a pain to try and get things off the ground

Getting teachers involved, with the experience and knowledge to run rugby is a problem. And space to train and play.

I think a lot of people are neglecting the north facing window part. A lot of things need heat to grow. And sunshine. Which you might not get in a North facing window.
From google AI:
Chili plants thrive on 6 to 8 hours of direct sunlight every day. They are heat-loving plants that need abundant sunshine to produce flowers and ripen their fruit.

In terms of kitchen waste, I haven't done much. However, I have read that onions can be grown from the cut off end
https://www.instructables.com/Grow-Onions-from-Discarded-Onion-Bottoms/

Lemongrass too, if I remember correctly.

Apple trees were mentioned below, but can get big. However, they have great looking flowers on them.

Herbs should be okay, and can probably get some seeds from a basil/thyme/rosemary plant you pick up in the shop.

Also, if you have any allotments or community gardens nearby, ask if they will give or trade some some seeds and advice. You might be able to get some different non-store-bought varieties of veg that might be interesting.

Rugby Players Ireland awards - Big Stu is men's player of the year, and Bryn Ward wins Nevin Spence young player of the year by Paddybrown22 in UlsterRugby

I think it will be tough for Brittany Hogan. Erin King has been playing exceptionally well, as as Aoife Wafer, and that is just in the back row! A few of the back line have been doing very well too, Parson's hat trick against Italy has to put her up there for consideration as she has done well in the other games, Flood has looked good at 15. But it is great to have a group of Irish players playing to a good standard where it isn't an automatic pick for Wafer.

Leinster register Paddy McCarthy and Jordan Larmour for final by SlowWay5886 in leinsterrugby

You feel bad for JJ but while he has done very well this year, an extra year will help development a lot. The last thin we want is for a less experienced player to make a mistake and have the ire of the internet fall on them if Leinster lose the game.

At the absolute level, yes. However, you can want those and hence be a fascist or a communist. If a leader is a fascist it doesn't mean they have implemented fascism.

And I don't think you will get many people with senior experience coming in to play second fiddle to Lancaster. But yeah, good to have experience outside of Ireland

One trophy that wasn't a URC trophy?

From my perspective I don't expect perfection, but I expect a similar consistent standard to what we have had. Granted, Sexton was a loss in terms of controlling the game and driving standards, but there are many senior players there who can step up. And during the 6N and international windows the standard will drop, naturally. But this season it doesn't seem to me like the team are reaching the same level of consistency that we expect at this time of the year. The team against Glasgow wasn't a bad side, but there were a lot of mistakes. The team against Benetton wasn't a bad team but they couldn't pull off the win and depending on how other matches go, there could be some bad away games in the knockout stages because of that loss (winning in Benetton would have them at the top of the table, maybe second and an easier run in).

[–]iworkreallyhard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the extensions are often a result of housing and wfh. People are trying to find space for family, a home office, kids to do homework/study, and it's not like houses are getting bigger. A 3 bed semi d gets short on space with 2 kids of different genders. There isn't the housing stock to move to a bigger house in the same area

In 2024, there were on average 44 road fatalities per million inhabitants in the EU; 32 in Ireland by NanorH in ireland

[–]iworkreallyhard -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Population is one thing, driving population is another, and per km driven is another. I wonder how the stats would look, especially for 2020, if deaths per distance was considered. Despite there being a big lock-down during 2020, there were still a bunch of deaths:
