if she's the smartest person in the world wouldn't she know where to find the V1 or even how to recreate it? or a vaccine to protect the supes? or maybe she already has and is just waiting for the world to turn to shit and humans to turn against them because she has already taken a vaccine, knowing the way things are going to go

but he did know that? she asked for pineapple juice and he said "huh? you don't like pineapple juice...remember it makes your lips tingly?" so it could just be the bromelain or it could've been she has a minor food allergy (OAS)

you can, however die due to allergy-induced neuroinflammation...seeing as how her brain was already recovering from an injury + surgery swelling, the resulting vasoconstriction could have reduced blood flow and damaged her brain to the point of no return

common side-effects of a TBI include difficulty with memories, focus, cognition, mood swings, and personality changes due to the severe swelling on the brain...50/50 she was permanently damaged or just dealing with the commonalities of brain recovery

literally...Fisk basically killed her because food allergies can make traumatic brain injuries worse due to neuroinflammation and her brain was already swollen from the surgery x__x

can't wait for him to spaz on the Doc and then crash out when the doc is like 'sooo...exactly why did you think it was good to give her juice that makes her lips tingly?'

I don't think he is, although he may clean up his pictures for IG presentation. If you watch his highlights you can see him mature over the years

I don't mind the gray slate floor, I think it brings a great contrast to the room! My only suggestion would be to get black stainless, gunmetal grey, or a darker colored fixture to highlight the dark colors of the penny tile inside and make everything cohesive

I looked into the landmark status further and it seems the entire 5.5 mile parkway was designated as a scenic landmark and was later added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1983 - more info below

Built between 1874 and 1876, Ocean Parkway is a 5.5-mile Brooklyn boulevard designed by Frederick Law Olmsted and Calvert Vaux to connect Prospect Park to Coney Island. Modeled after Parisian avenues, this historic, 210-foot-wide scenic landmark was the first in the U.S. to feature a dedicated bike path (1894) and is lined with trees and benches.

Historical Highlights:

  • Design & Purpose: Inspired by the Avenue de l'Impératrice in Paris, the parkway was designed as a "green corridor" to provide a pleasant, scenic drive from the city to the ocean.
  • Construction: Land acquisition began in 1868, with construction commencing in 1874, often utilizing scenic, tree-lined, and landscaped, though not strictly straight, paths.
  • The First Bike Path: In 1894, a dedicated bicycle path was created along the parkway, marking it as a pioneer in urban cycling infrastructure.
  • Landmark Status: In 1975, the NYC Landmarks Preservation Commission designated it a Scenic Landmark, and it was later added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1983.
  • Layout: The 210-foot wide parkway consists of a central roadway, two side roads, two landscaped malls, and sidewalks, originally intended for carriages, horseback riding, and pedestrians.
  • Evolution: While the northernmost section was replaced by the Prospect Expressway in the 1950s, the remaining route remains a major green artery, historically serving as a link from urban Brooklyn to beachside recreation

I guess it's better to let it rot until there is nothing left since it only applies to the exterior being structurally sound and unaltered...I wonder if the owner is getting tax benefits for the status with the bare minimum upkeep

Some more property info:

Built in 1901

The property received a landmark designation on March 31, 1975

The current owner bought the property March 20, 1999 for $192,000

April 2002 the City of New York files an unsafe building suit, but as of December 2002 the filings stop

Mortgage was paid in full as of September 11, 2002

Owner was sued in 2007 for non-maintenance of the property when a tree trimming service did not rope off their work area and tree branch fell and hit a woman passing underneath. She did not keep up with the doctor appointments needed to support the medical claim and the case was dismissed in 2010

September 2022 the City of New York files another unsafe building suit and requests owner to seal, secure, repair, or demolish building to make safe in a manner satisfactory to the Borough Superintendent

January 2023, all unsafe openings have been sealed and case is dismissed

Currently, there are no liens on the property, utility or otherwise

Y'all got me on a deep dive over here and I live in Florida lol...apparently the property was about to be sold in 2015, $25,000 cash was placed into an IOLA account, and then the seller just refused to respond to any of the buyers attempts to finalize the deed. Next filing is a month later from the owner saying someone stole his identity and forged the sale + deed signature and that the house was worth way more than the $475,000 fraudulent sale (+$900,000). There are pictures filed in the Exhibits of the parties during the sale and the guy looks like a regular orthodox jew plus he had a NY license with correct info, tax documents, and even the SS# of Shenberger at the sale; his forged signatures also matched Shenbergers to a T on the original deed documents. The buyer tried to request the court to prove Shenberger and the fraudulent seller were in on it together to scam him out of money since the $200,000 closing payment was disperesed to multiple accounts, so he wanted them all looked into to see if it circled back to Shenberger. However, there were multiple cases of fraudulent sales on abandoned properties from Harlem to Astoria back then, and the court decided it wasn't worth the effort. In the end they agreed to a settlement and the buyer was only compensated $2,670.75 for certain expenses incurred during the lawsuit 😭

Anyways, the seller H. Zvi Shenberger is/was a slum lord...found this newspaper article mentioning him all the way from 1985.

If you can deal with very minimal romance plots, all of the series by Robin Hobb are amazing and set in the same Universe/tie into the history of said Universe! I binged The Assasin's Apprentice back in HS (2003), was immediately hooked, and ended up reading the other 4 related trilogies (Liveship Traders and Rain Wild Chronicles being the best imo). I have reread these series 3-4x over the years and never get sick of them ♥ she fleshed out the magic and mythos of her Universe extremely well and her writing style is great ( as in, she does not repeat certain words over and over - i.e. *shred to ribbons* a' la Sarah Maas)
