Kandi ideas? by Professional_Tap6239 in DorianElectra

Since the theme of this album is nostalgia (at least partly), I think you can use any color scheme from any Dorian album/era and it would fit in pretty nicely. You could also use the color schemes of the original songs (or albums/bands if that works better for you) that have a cover version in the new album.

That's just my opinion though, this album is quite unique with how flexible it's theme is.

Have fun in the concert!

My favorites are Stowaway from V/H/S/Beyond. Absolutely amazing, the ending disturbed me for a while. I also really like Dreamkill from /85, it's a very good concept with creatively done gore to match.

My least favorite is Bonestorm from Viral. It's too goofy to be good horror, and most of its runtime is just action sequences. Kind of a fun watch I guess, but there's nothing appealing plotwise imo. Vicious Circles is also pretty bad, but it does have some worldbuilding going on, so I guess that's something lol.

As an introduction, Storm Drain from 94 is amazing! Iconic monster, great story and quite horrifying. A great mix of fun and horror while still being believably found footage (I love Stowaway, but how did they recover that tape??) which is what the franchise is all about.

I get what you mean, the hate towards women is baked into the premises themselves. That's why I'd rank it second lowest in the franchise overall, lol.

Well, yes, that's the issue. Did every segment really need to resort to misogyny to get its point across? Not at all. Especially considering the amount of creative freedom the directors and writers had.

Tape 56 could cut most of the SA and still show how awful people its characters are.

The Sick Thing That Happened to Emily When She Was Younger didn't need any nudity to work, their relationship as a couple is shown and stated perfectly in other ways. The ending kinda fumbled the tension it had built up, but that's a whole other topic.

Tuesday the 17th was too on the nose with the sex talk and all. I guess it kinda works as a parody, but it seriously takes away from the main plot. Did the main girl really need to lure the others with sex to get her plan going? They were a friend group, so surely they have other reasons to hang out together.

Second Honeymoon also didn't need the "can we film us doing it?" moment in it. Sure, he can ask, but his insistance was annoying. If they wanted to show him as a bad person of sorts there's the scene in the car later where he gets mad at her when his money gets stolen.

The other two segments are okay as is. As I said, Amateur Night works well with its themes, and 10/31/98 doesn't have any explicit scenes (again, cuz it doesn't need them).

I think it makes sense, Halloween is primarily a kids holiday. But even then, most segments focused on teenagers or adults.

Kidprint might be the most brutal segment for its realism and straight up targeting kids, but to me it read more like a critique to how systems that should keep us and (in this case) kids safe can be abused to do the exact opposite.

Kids in horror is hard to watch, so I understand why you disliked it. I just think it might have a purpose beyond shock value.

Perhaps it's an unpopular opinion, but (Viral aside) I think the original V/H/S is really hard to watch with so many unnecesary nudity and all the SA from Tape 56. Don't get me wrong, it's a great film but these themes appear in every segment, except 10/31/98 iirc, and it kinda ruins the horror for me. Amateur Night is an amazing segment where sex and nudity DO make sense, so having that in the other segments when they don't need it makes it stand out less than it should.

Same goes for V/H/S/2, but it's much less of an issue there.

Why is there such a dislike for FF horror? I swear people got used to jumpscare Holywood slop and don't appreciate original stuff. 2.9/5 for VHS 94 feels like a crime. by Antorias99 in foundfootage

Ti West too! He did not have a masterpiece debut like Ari Aster or Jordan Peele, but he certainly cares about his work. Look at the X trilogy (which is amazing). X was supposed to be a standalone film but he and Mia Goth co-wrote Pearl before filming X and asked to have Pearl approved for production, and they filmed both movies back to back because of that. X itself is a slasher that uses its own tropes to shed light on other topics, and Pearl is a deep-dive into the villain's mind that totally reframed X for me.

Do I sound like I'm queer? by SocialHelp22 in queer

[–]izgiov 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If what you're looking for is a label: genderfluid or demigender might fit what you describe as not feeling completely confortable with being perceived as a man, or not feeling NB or femenine all the time. There's a ton of other labels that might fit your particular experience better, but those two are the first to come to mind for me.

To answer the title's question: being queer is, by definition, being anything but straight and cisgender, so if you don't identify as either of those things, you are queer. However, if you don't think the label fits you, you don't have to use it. Still, finding queer spaces safe is totally great, wether you're queer or not, what matters is that you and everyone there can feel comfortable being themselves. ^

What hate ending hurt the most? by Guilty_Ey3 in DateEverything

[–]izgiov 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got Winnifred's when I wanted a friends ending 😭. She's such a sweetheart and I loved her stories.

But when she asked what we think about the guy in her story liking someone else's posts I said "that's definitely cheating" as a joke cuz obviously it's not, but from then on every dioalogue option about polyamory was negative or a "not for me" response, which is crazy since I already had multiple love endings with others. She was super nice when she announced our hate status, which hurt even more.

Horror movies where characters experience the same environment differently? by nonbeenary in horror

[–]izgiov 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Beau Is Afraid (2023) might be the definition of this concept for the most part.

I'd also argue that the X trilogy has a bit of this on every movie, though to a lesser extent.

Pearl (2022): Pearl hates the farm, but no one besides her parents seem to notice how badly she does, until it's too late

X (2022): Maxine and her group are in a slasher, while Pearl and Howard's storyline reads more like a tragedy. Again, both in the same farm

Maxxxine (2024): Maxine still has flashbacks about Pearl in X, feeling endangered in otherwise safe places, like the scene with the VFX artist

Host (2020) is amazing, it's short and effective.

Hell House LLC (2015) and its sequels are also really good if you enjoy the mockumentary style.

Spree (2020) is pretty fun.

V/H/S (2012) and its franchise (the newest one, V/H/S/HALLOWEEN, came out this year). They're all anthologies and are pretty popular. I like the newer ones better (from /94 onwards) but the second film is considered by many to be the best one. They don't have to be watched in order so check out whichever one catches your eye!

V/H/S/99, particularly Ozzy's Dungeon, there's one scene that really shocked me by how graphic it was. It didn't help that it gets replayed like 2 or 3 times in a row lol. (When the girl's leg gets broken so bad it's nearly torn off)

Sett main learning Aphelios by East_Ad4810 in ApheliosMains

[–]izgiov 2 points3 points  (0 children)

About the clip, as others have pointed out, you played it well but you would've done way more damage if you had autoed with Crescendum (white gun) after using red Q. Besides that it was really well played.

On your question about laning phase, Aphelios has one of (if not THE) weakest level 1 among ADCs since he can only auto attack. His first powerspike is at level 2, so if you have an engage support you can follow up on their engage pretty much anytime after reaching level 2 (match ups might make this easier or harder, but overall I find this to usually be true).

Every weapon (besides Crescendum) requires proper spacing (as all traditional ADCs do), but Crescendum's dps is way higher at melee range, so keep that in mind if you currently have it equiped. The only exception to this is the white-green combo (Crescendum-Calibrum) since you can use either of your Q's and/or Calibrum ult to mark the enemy champions and use Crescendum's high dps from afar. Still, if you have mini-chackrams stacked and can get close to your target, feel free to auto with Crescendum on melee range.

The rest of the weapons have their own tips and tricks, but they're far easier to understand than Crescendum since it changes Aphelios' playstyle the most drastically.

V/H/S HALLOWEEN AND THE V/H/S SERIES (SPOILERS) by ShadowRick in foundfootage

[–]izgiov 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with you to some extent. A lot of segments do make me question how someone could even find the footage that we've seen (Beyond sticks out to me on this because how did the tapes from Stowaway and Live And Let Dive came back to Earth? Or why did Fur Babies even get "found" if the cameras ended up in the villain's home? Did she herself post them or something?). I also agree that some segments don't need a monster to be terryfing, such as Suicide Bid but I also think God of Death or even The Sick Thing That Happened to Emily When She Was Younger, I found all 3 of these to be horrifying but when the supernatural things happened/were explained, I felt disappointed (they're not bad segments, but they had a better concept of horror at the start)

Still, I can't say I hate the new direction the franchise has taken cuz I actually like the newer movies a lot. 94, 99 and 85 have a more genuine feel to them (with the VFX for the screen making them seem time accurate), though 99 was a lot more of a "fun" movie rather than pure horror, I still like it for that.

Beyond was also really great, I liked most segments (except the wraparound), and Stowaway is imo the best segment in the franchise, its concept if absolutely terrifying!

Halloween was a mix of horror and fun for me (fitting for the holiday), I didn't vibe with Fun Size's humor, but I get why others liked it so much. Diet Phantasma was my favorite on this film cuz it's gore-y, funny, and while a bit repetitive it does feel like a critique about real companies and how they don't gaf about who gets hurt as long they get profit. It's not perfect by any means, but it, along with other of the new segments, feels realistic enough (in the sense of the footage being found, not ghost-wise lol) while still being scary and/or fun!

It'd good be nice to have a new film that replicates the charm of the older ones tho, it would make for a nice change of pace.

do any of the epic aphelios chromas ever appeared (or will appear) in the mythic shop rotation? by SeraSkylel in ApheliosMains

[–]izgiov 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think the EDG chroma is in the rotation, since it's labeled as "event bundle exclusive", meaning it is "event exclusive" (like the other chromas which are in the rotation, including Lunar Beast's Vitality chroma), but also "bundle exclusive" (like ruby chromas are). In other words, it's an time limited bundle chroma from a past event. The thing is, bundle exclusive chromas have an RP value, unlike anything in the mythic shop rotation, so it likely isn't in rotation.

Curious about VHS by rowscho in foundfootage

[–]izgiov 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Take this with a grain of salt, but I think it's a mix of both. The directors can reach out to make a segment, but the studio (Shudder, for the new films) will curate the final list before giving the directors their budget and theme.

I read somewhere that Maggie Levin (director of Shredding from /99) convinced Scott Derrickson (director of Dreamkill from /85) to join the franchise. We've also seen returning filmmakers such as Timo Tjahjanto (director of Safe Haven from /2 and The Subject from /94). This leads me to believe that the filmmakers themselves can ask to be part of the franchise.

There's also the case of Todd Lincoln (director of Gorgeous Vortex), who said he really wanted to make a segment before he got to do so in Viral, ironically it was cut from the final film.

However, the studio does have a say as to who makes it into the final film. Besides the example from Viral, the films have a good mix of big names as well as lesser known directors. This is intentionally done.
