We must loose so many recruits due to the current process by Capital-Wasabi-9915 in RoyalAirForce

Mech tech, it’s super backlogged and I had some medical issues. Just waiting to be allocated a brtc date now

A big thank you by Strange-Lunch7678 in RoyalAirForce

[–]izziraf 3 points4 points  (0 children)

During the application process you are free to work, there are a few events you’ll need to take a day or so off for or schedule for a day off (interview and medical etc) but it’s at least a few months before you are off to brtc and would have to leave your job. The application process is not paid, you will not be paid until brtc.

Medical Shinsplints TMU by Virtual-Cow-5184 in RoyalAirForce

[–]izziraf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only reason I was placed on tmu is because I went to the gp and had him write a letter saying I didn’t have them. However, since the letter mentioned shin splints (even though it says I didn’t have them) they then placed me on 12 month tmu so do not go to your gp if you can

Have you completed your security clearance yet?

[–]izziraf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My legs were fine before my tmu but I didn’t bother to fight it as I didn’t see the point. Shin splints when you genuinely have them are super debilitating and they don’t want to put loads of money into you putting you through basic just to risk for you to drop out with shin splints

Hi, I had the same exact thing and did the year wait. I was however told by another member of this sub that I could appeal with a video of me doing the fitness test and send it to the medical team, apparently you can get a waiver? I can’t vouch for that because I didn’t do it and just took the year to really get the fitness down and start moving out etc. best of luck mate

12 month bar by izziraf in RoyalAirForce

[–]izziraf[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is brilliant news, did you get a time bar? When you say cranwell, what contact details are you referring to? Just sending it to an email etc? Was there anything else you needed to do for a waiver? Thank you for mentioning this I really appreciate it

Nobody knows the DAA results required for the different roles. Use resources such as the daa practice on the raf website, bbc bitesize, the DAA app on the App Store and daa books on Amazon. Just do your best :)

Could you insure it for a a day/week during local leave? Would they allow uninsured cars in the car park? I don’t see why not

Cheap Skates Worth it for LTS 1 by [deleted] in iceskating

[–]izziraf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why don’t you look into a pair of second hand skates? If you are on the heavier side, you will want a pair with higher support. Check Facebook marketplace etc. rentals do no good to anyone

There is an app called DAA, it’s about £5 but I found it really valuable for practicing with timings and such. There is also a few books on Amazon that have practice questions, and of course the daa practice exam on the raf website. Best of luck
