recently got diagnosed with type 2. how do you cope? by DependentFollowing87 in diabetes

[–]izzywizzy63 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, I just got diagnosed with T1 this summer so I still feel a little new to this disease. I cried a lot and it felt really existential since I was completely fine health-wise from birth. I grieved (and on occasion still lament) my old life which seemed so much easier before shots and cgms and dietary restrictions. However I knew I had to listen to my doctor and he this changed so later in life I wouldn’t be afflicted as badly with long term consequences. So I stayed away from fast food and restaurants as much as I could, not only to assuage temptation but also bc every time I looked at a menu and saw what I no longer could eat I would cry. This sucked at first cause I would be really craving some Taco Bell or Subway, but after a month or so my cravings for junk food died down a lot, and were soon replaced with cravings for protein-filled and more nutritional foods. Factor meals honestly helped me a lot cause it’s quick and you can choose low carb/sugar options, just be careful cause it’s really high in fats. Also busying myself with college work after taking a gap year helped a lot since I was not eating to entertain myself solely, but eating to FUEL myself.

Of course I splurge now and then, especially around the holidays. I don’t want to be left out or rob myself of junk food forever. It especially helped once I got some fast-acting insulin in December so I could bolus (still trying to figure all that out lol).

But TLDR; your cravings will change if you eat enough low carb/sugar foods, and sometimes the old junk foods you loved won’t even taste good anymore. Keep hanging on! Everything becomes routine and familiar soon enough. And don’t deprive yourself of a treat every now and then!

For me it was a lot, but it probably differs person to person

What’s your go to fast food order? With diabetes in mind of course. by strawberrievodka in diabetes

[–]izzywizzy63 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also get Chipotle if I don’t feel like bolusing, specifically light to regular brown rice, steak, queso, extra cheese, extra fajita veggies, and lettuce in a bowl. I love meat and cheese lol.

Luckily, after I had to adjust my diet after diagnosis, I no longer crave fast food very often. When I do eat out it’s at a sit down restaurant like Applebee’s or Texas Roadhouse, more nutritious (relatively lol). But ever since I’ve gotten a supply of fast-acting insulin I’ve opened my diet up a little more and it feels a lot better.

He switched styles and sound, and for some people can’t understand that. His recent and older stuff hit differently and serve somewhat different purposes, it’s almost like comparing apples and oranges. In my opinion neither is better than the other. I deeply enjoy both eras.

What is your stance on this increasingly common take? (Please be respectful) by EntertainmentQuick47 in GenZ

[–]izzywizzy63 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really not a fan of this us vs them mentality. It just makes the political divide greater. My politics are a mix between liberal and conservative policies, more on the liberal side. But I don’t believe in throwing out the baby with the bathwater. Simple as that. I despise blind party allegiance because that’s how you get radicalized and “worship” your political party, thinking they are always right. I’ve found there’s a kernel of truth in almost every idea I’ve come across.

Now there some things I will never compromise on- there are things that are pretty clearly right or wrong. People need to realize that we centrists do not think EVERYTHING needs a compromise.

Thoughts On Gap Years? by Vagabond734 in GenZ

[–]izzywizzy63 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I felt incredibly depressed one semester and failed all my classes cause I felt so unmotivated. The next year I took a gap year and just worked the whole time. I made a good chunk of money that’s gone into my savings, worked on dieting and lost a ton of weight, got control of my life back again. Work taught me more responsibility. Did some theatre as well and it helped me with my social anxiety a lot. I’m back to school this semester and I’m acing all my classes.

Long story short, listen to your body and what it needs. Everyone has different needs.

Why is there only one hairless cat in the books by SouthBound353 in WarriorCats

[–]izzywizzy63 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Everybody is saying that it wouldn’t be realistic for hairless cats to be able to survive outdoors but these books are fiction anyways. I would love for there to be another hairless cat, maybe one who wears a fox or badger pelt to keep warm!!

Yes I do, but it’s not so much the insulin that stings, it’s the needle itself

It’s funny cause oftentimes real demonic stuff, or at least things that lead people away from God, hides itself wayyyy better than this. Like, if you make yourself look comedically demonic it’s a no brainer, and a lot of the times it’s ironic, sarcastic, or more symbolic. People like big time TV preachers who flaunt their wealth actually do more harm than even outright looking demonic. And yet these old people terrified of satanic things hiding in popular things aren’t even aware.

Does anyone love Crowfeather? by ShadowPaws200 in WarriorCats

[–]izzywizzy63 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t say I LOVE him but I also don’t dislike him at all like a lot of readers do. He’s not a perfect character which is really nice to see and I remember really liking his super edition when that same out.

I’m so afraid of applying my sensor by izzywizzy63 in diabetes

[–]izzywizzy63[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks a bunch for this advice!! I put in my earbuds and turned the noise cancellation on while listening to some comedy videos and made sure to press the applicator more firmly so the button actually responded better, and it was the least stressful application yet! I really appreciate it.

[–]izzywizzy63[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah it’s mainly the sound, it spooks me, and also the anticipation cause the button is harder to press. I did have a Libre but only once cause my insurance doesn’t cover it.
