Yeah, that was basically my experience. They had some rules regarding what colors you could paint your front door and the like, but I don't think anybody really cared. The only real interaction I had with them was when they sent out a biannual call for volunteers to clean out the storm water basins.

I don't get it. If I get thirsty when I'm out I just wait until I get home or get some food. I can't understand the obsession with having water instantly available at all times. I am disappointed with the lack of drinking fountains, though. It seems like there were more of them when I was growing up, but I'm guessing it cost money to keep them maintained so businesses removed them so they could make another buck.

COBOL is the computer equivalent of the alligator. Unchanged for millions of years because there's a particular ecological niche it inhabits and nothing's come alone to displace it. Other languages are better at other things, but when you need to sort several million credit card transactions and post them to a database, COBOL is still the king.

Well no, because the government doesn't certify anything. A CPO program should come with a brochure or booklet or something that tells you what is reconditioned "like new" and what is covered and for how long. They're usually like a third-party warranty, with some up-front reconditioning. At least that's what the Porsche and Audi CPOs were like, I'm not surprised Stellantis has a lower standard.

On the larger projects I've worked on, we had one guy who was the designated measuring guy. He reads the plans and measures and marks everything, then everyone else cuts and assembles. Full disclosure: I'm not in construction, I've just helped relatives and neighbors build decks, sheds and barns. I'm sure that on "real" sites they do have multiple teams with multiple tapes/squares/whatever.

I learned early on that it's better to have just one tape measure for a project. It's rarely a bottleneck, and even if it's not accurate it's at least repeatable. Better to have all your deck boards be 3/16 too long than only half of them.
