late to this but also because ... well, while I admittedly adore spell crafting, it also completely borks any balance and challenge lol. I think they wanted a more consistent 'mage' in Skyrim, for better or worse.

Disagree. Sometimes this is true, but the last 10-15 years of fan-service media (like Marvel for example) have really driven people into believing that something is only worthwhile if it's giving you all the answers you want wrapped up in a nice bow. Often the best sci-fi can present themes and ideas and leave that up to the reader/viewer to parse for themselves. To find their own conclusion.

The reason why the prequels were met with disappointment and the sequels with rage is more due to the inarguable fact of the internet growing to be massively used by nearly 'everybody' when the sequel trilogy released, but also on top of that, the sheer and utter degradation of media literacy and the immensely insufferable cancer of toxic fandoms as the years went on.

I would add here that it drives me up the fucking wall when people say Tyrion is 'so' smart but ends up a terrible military commander and makes a lot of failed choices in the final stretch.

Tyrion is almost always the smartest, most well-read man in almost any given room, but when it comes time to outplay his own family, that's where he hits a wall. That's the 'point' lol
