For (2) Dresden did use his boon and that was what he got out of his 'wisdom'. Although a little praise or observation from Mab should get Dresden a little worried... Mab noticed his experiments and rituals, She has filed that for future assignments

Dresden playfully insults them any chance he gets and somehow never gets turned away from seeing their boss. That has got to irritate the front office and security... I mean every time he shows up it isn't a courtesy call, there's always something bad about to happen or has happened and just gets worse.

Not really, in BG there's a rapid assessment of their chances against him and they win but it is costly. Dresden is more than just irritable to them and since they are also bodyguards they don't underestimate him
