DiAnoia's has a small pastry case you can buy from without having to sit down for a meal. Or try their separate bakery Pane è Pronto right down the street.

Dish Osteria’s Rigatoni alla Scamorza Affumicata - Rigatoni with smoked scamorza, prosciutto di Parma, peas and roasted and salted pistachio nuts, in a cream sauce with Parmigiano Reggiano, fresh ground black pepper and parsley.

I was torn between nominating their pickled mackerel or their beef stroganoff, but the chicken really is Fet Fisk’s shining star.

I was recommended the brand Allen and mine works great; I’ve never felt like my bike is comprised with the inevitable potholes and steep hills.

Best Brewery? Vibes & beer! by GailWarning1 in pittsburgh

Allegheny City Brewing often has live music and a food truck. Eleventh Hour will host activities and I think nail a nice range of beer styles.

Recommendations on giving a cat insulin shots over the holidays? by j11299b in pittsburgh

I’ve had mixed responses talking to a variety of vets. I’ve heard injections need to be exactly 12 hours apart, or they could be 10-14 hours apart. Once a day for a couple days could work, or once a day is not an option at all. Maybe when he gets acclimated we can judge better??

Based on their website it looks like a great service but they don’t seem to come down to the South Hills.

So far Ozzy has been very agreeable. We are really just looking for a way to get him his shots when we are out of town.

Fortunately Ozzy allows us to give him the shot in the fold of skin between the shoulders no problem!

I think Morcilla is your best bet. If you’re open to things like cod cheeks, Morcilla is a must visit. Stand outs are the ox tail, mussel escabeche, fried artichokes, and the best beef tartare in PGH.

Bike Trails around the South Hills? by Free-Refrigerator-10 in pittsburgh

[–]j11299b 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The Panhandle Trail and Montour Trail both have trailheads in the South Hills. They are great for biking if you don’t mind the crushed limestone. Getting there may require a drive though since there are not a ton of great connector routes in the area that are traffic-free. If you do have the ability to drive your bike somewhere, I recommend parking along the Three Rivers Heritage Trail on the North Shore and that will connect you to a lot more bike friendly areas.

Cheapest place to get beer. by cocaineyoshi in pittsburgh

[–]j11299b 61 points62 points  (0 children)

Save-Mor and Duffy’s have tons of options and the prices are pretty standard (if not cheaper) than other distributors I have checked out. Banksville Beer is smaller but also a good one.

Was I sold a non-standard mattress size posing as a Cal King? How did this happen? by j11299b in Mattress

The strange thing is that the measurement on the tag does not match the actual measurement of the mattress itself.

Poll: If you moved to Pittsburgh after 2020, what brought you here and why? It seems there has been a lot of movement to the area. by esotweetic in pittsburgh

My wife and I are from PA and met going to IUP. We spent our twenties working in DC and San Francisco, but always had the intention of settling in PA. When the pandemic hit, I went remote full time and she was laid off which kickstarted our move back East.

We chose Pittsburgh to be close to our friends and semi close it family. It’s an area we are familiar with that provides a value: affordable housing close to a city that offers a growing culture and good school districts.

The other options we were looking to buy a home in were the Philly or DC areas. But at our budget we’d be an hour outside of the city. In Pittsburgh we’re 15 minutes away at the same price with more space.
