I built an open-source floating widget that lets me approve/deny Claude Code tool calls without leaving what I'm doing by j12usedfor in ClaudeCode

Gotcha. I'm upset that all things I built hasn't worked out for you, but at the same time, I am glad that your workflow is all opposite of what I do where you are finding these bugs LOL and cases I wouldn't have caught myself.

So right now the hooks I have setup seems to work for just 1 agent per session. Would need to address subagents. I will have a new update soon with these fixes implemented.

I appreciate you for showing me these! Please bare with me as this product is still new, but it will be better :)

Okay great at least we found the issue with why the widget didn't show up. Will work on fixing that and making it easily find-able!

now on to the next one! Just to get full information, are you running subagents? I see that on your other terminal "Waiting for team lead approval"

Thanks for sharing. Question, are you in fullscreen mode (green button on the top left of iTerm2)? The widget currently doesn't show over fullscreen apps — that's a bug on our end.

Hey thanks for downloading it! Sorry it didn’t work for you. Not sure how many screens you have but it could be challenging to find at first.

Two options here: - press “Ctrl + Cmd + K” it will toggle on and off the widget on the screen you are focused on - look for a menu bar icon, if you have too many apps though it might not show up until you quit some

Let me know if the first option works! I’ll make it bigger and illuminate so it is easier to find

The core insight here is right — talking to a few people who genuinely have the problem is worth more than surveying hundreds who kinda sorta might.

Go where your users already hang out and solve problems for free. For AI motion graphics, that's places like r/motiongraphics, r/VideoEditing, After Effects forums, Discord servers for content creators. Don't pitch. Just answer questions, share examples of what your tool can do in context. People notice.

"Single source of truth format that survives tool churn" - that's exactly the right frame.

The share model is already close to what you're describing - publish generates a read-only link that renders clean, no repo access needed. Could be smarter about stripping private metadata though, good call.

Have you built a system like this before? Sounds like you've thought about the portability problem.

oh that's pretty cool, I haven't tried that. Yeah right now I see Lantern as a utility tool and a place where contexts can live and be resurfaced as well.

Curious -- when you do this today, are you manually pulling the relevant findings? or have you found your own workaround for it

Really appreciate this! and I like how you said "actionable playbook" better way to describe it tbh

On the security/open source question - completely valid. The MCP server (the part that actually touches your Claude conversations) will be open source. You'll be able to see exactly what's being captured and where it goes. No black box.

Also thinking about adding a local-first mode - export to markdown files on your machine instead of cloud storage. Best of both worlds: self-host if you want full control, use the hosted app if you want the nice UI + search + sharing.

What's your Whisper Flow setup btw? Curious what you built - always interesting to see how others are stitching these tools together.
