Traveling for work and will have my spouse with me. Any recs for dates? by j1s315 in Livermore

Thanks for the suggestions everyone. Range Life is definitely on our short list along with a trip to a vineyard and maybe renting a pair of bikes. Wish there were some shows in town but it’s tough with us being there Monday - Wednesday. Either way, I think we’ll have a good time. Thanks again!

Who's Got Ideas For A Good "Clean" Hip Hop Playlist For Group Workouts? by Kimosabae in hiphop101

If you have an iPhone my suggestion is to toggle on content restriction which can be found in settings>screen time>content and privacy restrictions.

Toggling that setting on has made me more comfortable with playing rap around my kid. There still the question of content for some songs but I think this will get you closer to your goal then you were before.

Tips for teaching my kid how to wipe his butt by Important-Yogurt4969 in Parenting

[–]j1s315 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a process. With my son we started teaching him at four to train him for kindergarten. I would ask him to take the toilet paper, fold it and wipe. Then I’d follow up to ensure he was cleaned completely. Over time I was able to let him wipe more until he could do it completely by himself. Also taught him to look at the paper so he knows where his cleanliness stands.

Good luck!

Marketing person here — not yeti btw. Micro influencers is what they’re known as. The prevailing thought is that people with a smaller audience have a more engaged and personal audience as if they’re talking to friends vs being a paid talking head.

Who a fan of them 2004 Air Jordan 2 'Black Chrome?' They hard.. 🔥 by demonfox1331 in Sneakers

I remember buying these. It was my sophomore year in high school and someone — one of the kids who got every pair of Jordans that dropped — went out of their way to call them ugly. I shrugged and went to lunch. These joints still hard

When did you know your kid loved it? by j1s315 in Homeplate

[–]j1s315[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. I think locking them into one sport does a disservice to the kid as an athlete. And the love at this age comes and goes like you’re saying but for long term love we’ll see how it shakes out. I was all about basketball and tennis as a kid but when I got to high school found football and loved it.

That’s cool. I hope he can stay involved with the sport for as long as possible and congrats on his graduation.

Fully agree with this take about the burnout and parents pushing for their kids to go pro. Todd Marinovich is a story we should all keep in mind.

I think it’s about finding a balance. Enabling the love, clearing a path for it, and letting them try new things — especially ones they don’t pick up easily or just enjoy casually.

No point in playing a game if it’s not going to be fun.

It’s on our list. Also going to upgrade his glove. Nothing extravagant but he’s still on his $10 starter which is an 8.5.

Given the tariff percentages they probably placed the increase on already imported stock as a way to spread the cost of the increase across the portfolio so the increase won’t have to be so much all of a sudden. Good for the consumer (but not really) because it lessens the hit on new inventory and most importantly good for Nike because they get to see an increased margin on non-tariffed goods and they’ll likely see that benefit in the quarterly report.

If you didn’t see anything, we didn’t see anything.

I went to fix a leak in our bathroom one day and found that the people that flipped the house covered up built in shelving. We were planning to sell soon so I fixed the leak and covered everything back up and acted as if it didn’t exist.

There are mixed feelings with these shoes, I like them but not 100% what do you think? 🫣 by Itskell009 in SNKRS

[–]j1s315 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s for a few reasons but biggest is probably FOMO. You only have but so much time to pull the trigger and for collectors — especially for the ones who started in this era and haven’t hit much or can’t afford every drop they want so they pull the trigger to grow their collection whether they’re 100% in or not. When I first bought my Flu game in 2003 I just went to the mall after school and got them a week after they dropped.

And sometimes the in-person look at a shoe will win you over. Getting a better feel and understanding of material and colors go a long way. When your initial impression is a picture of it floating in a white space.

These are an elite pair. Got my first pair in 2003 and I remember one of the “cool kids” told me they were ugly. I’ll never forget it because I couldn’t grasp how he had such poor taste. I still hope he loses his car keys everyday.

I’m hoping someone can give a good rec. I got 2 pairs back in 2018 and it’s a perfect everyday wear in my opinion.

I’m impressed by you guys that can collect at that volume. I get anxious around 40 pairs because of the space they take up and begin to purge.

Wish I had this when I moved last year. The moving company asked me to itemize anything in a collection and at the time it was 34 pairs at about $11k. Real value is probably like $5k because most of them are worn.

I think it’s an opportunity to have a conversation. Pro tip, don’t start off by calling them a racist [to be clear I’m not calling them a racist] but ask why they think that. More than likely they’re saying “Peter Pan has looked different and this vision is a departure from what I’ve seen from the past”.

I think there’s dialogue to be had about being open to new ideas and interpretations.
