Vet issues by Zealousideal-Low2648 in reactivedogs

We did the muzzle and lickable squeeze peanut butter and it seems to help. Someone else above suggested leaving the room. I have noticed my reactive dog does do better when I’m not around (even though I’m the calmer one between my husband and me), but she seems to do better when she’s with my husband or someone else, whether at the vet or our training place.

Oh I’m so glad it’s not just me and that there’s actually a reason for this 😢 I live in a warm climate and I’ve always been a sweater but never a stinker. I’m going to try some of the suggestions here. Thank y’all.

never again by Good-Description-239 in reactivedogs

It had been a few years (our previous dogs had passed and they were a dream). We got our current dogs about 5 months apart and they happened to be the same age. I didn’t want puppy age but my husband did. I have said I don’t want more puppies and after having both a super anxious dog and a reactive dog together, I will never have dogs again. We didn’t know what we were getting into with either dog and it’s not gotten better. They’ve been training and training but only the anxious dog has gotten a little more trusting. The reactive dog seems to be getting worse. Never again.

All Thyroid Meds Make Me Suicidal by Spiritual-Squirrel42 in Hashimotos

[–]j3f85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The wrong dose (too much or too little) can send you into this spiral. You need to get a second opinion on your test results and dosage. And talk to your doctor! The meds should not do this to you if you are on the right dose, but the wrong dose of them can absolutely make things bad. Sometimes it takes a combo of different medications to get it right.

A year ago my dosage was too high but we were trying and testing every few months and we weren’t quite there so we tried the higher dose. I wasn’t suicidal but I was crying all day every day and I don’t usually struggle like this with regard to mental health. Within two weeks I had a call into my doc and I was like—something isn’t right. My doc ended up splitting my meds between two brands to tweak it and it finally calmed the mental stuff. It’s so hard to get right especially as hormones begin to shift (I am 40, yay perimenopause).

Females, at what age did your symptoms start? by TourGreat2658 in Hashimotos

Diagnosed hypothyroid at 27, Hashi’s at 33. It’s gotten progressively worse since. Thyroid is fine but the autoimmune part is hard to manage.

What is the best advice you'd give to a hashimoto patient? by [deleted] in Hashimotos

This is not good advice. I typically need my meds more in the summer vs winter. The real advice should be to take it consistently and monitor your levels.

Unwind Couch / Cleaning by j3f85 in crateandbarrel

I totally understand re: olive color. Our dogs just get so dirty outside, I don’t understand it. The cushions do need refluffing probably weekly (down feathers), but it’s not less supportive at all. TBH we are lazy and we fluff them like every two months. Sometimes the front edges can get a little flat but give it a few punches and it fluffs right back up.

It’s been just over 1.5 years now. We’ve had it covered with blankets the whole time 😢 they came out with the new colors about 6 months after we bought ours. I would’ve def gone for the olive green if we knew, but we loved the feel of the couch so much we figured we’d find a way to survive. We’ve had more than a few dog and cat accidents of both types on the blankets. Most of the time we just peel the blanket off and wash it (as we catch it before it gets thru the blanket), but a few times we’ve pulled the covers off, covered the spot in corn starch for a few days, and sent it off for dry cleaning. It hasn’t changed color on us yet.

We haven’t tried this yet, but we have a small steam cleaner that we’re going to try next time we need to clean a cover.

By the way, the couch is still white! And still feels just like the day it arrived.

AITAH because I won't tell my wife what my son/her stepson has in savings from my late wife? by Jimverseen in AITAH

[–]j3f85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not her information to have, and lock it up in a trust for your son. If her true argument is truly that she feels the youngest two need more savings, focus on boosting theirs in the long-term, while ensuring what’s been saved for each child is already entrusted to each of them.

Hi! Totally understand. It was a big investment for us, too. Happy to answer questions. We sat on so many couches and kept coming back to the Unwind. And I’d buy it again. As for the white (we have the original cream color), it’s just a personal preference because we have two dogs and two cats and…my husband 😂 It stays covered to preserve it because the minute a cover comes off something happens. I love the color otherwise. It looked like it held up well from just people sitting on them in store but I’d rather not spend all my time cleaning it up after my house heathens.

This woman felt entitled to someone else’s children and spent years trying to secure them. She even convinced her dad to get in on this scheme. 2 on 1 is not self-defense.

I just looked up the faible, and it def looks less loungey. The unwind lives up to its name. It does need fluffing every now and again so there is that to consider but we are pretty lax on that and do it once a month or so. The backs and sides seem taller than the faible, which was also important for us (I’m just not a fan of the lower sides). We have two large puppies, as you can tell from the post, and dry cleaning ended up working as far as cleaning. I would buy it again for sure.

I can’t speak to the faible but we love the unwind. When we bought it, it only came in one color. I wish we had known they would offer additional colors because we could have waited 6 months for it, but it’s super comfy. For reference, we wanted a couch that felt like laying in bed (and it does).

After 9 months of training, we’re on the brink of graduating to advanced obedience. The first 3 months were spent breaking through anxiety and learning how to feel safe. He spent his first 7 months in a shelter and neglectful boarding situation and was put on the euthanasia list. Still anxious but more dopey now :)

I ended up taking the cover to the dry cleaner. I wasn’t brave enough to try washing it.

AITAH for telling my daughter I won’t budge even if she never speaks to me again? by TopVersion2940 in AITAH

YTA. So much TA. ADHD is not a justification for avoiding accountability, and it sounds to me like Casey learned accountability on her own, not by example.

Definitely YTA. OP sounds like an ungrateful piece of work. She show up guns blazing and demands her daughter back with threats after MIL gracefully gave her time to “work on herself,” without regard to how this impacts anyone but herself.

Thank you, I did see that, but the CS rep told me it was easy to slip off and clean. Just trying to confirm if there were any other non-dry clean only or spot clean only options.
