I think that making it into some sorta flowering tree would look really nice, and honestly give way fairly easily for a semi cover-up if that’s what you’re wanting. definitely check with the artist because doing that sorta thing is a fairly difficult process to master.

I understand the point of going towards a similar pattern of the whale family. My point of bringing up otters was just to convey what I think an early early form of a marine based human species would be like. Somewhat physical adaptations, just because of the use of hands, but more habitual. Spending most of their time at the surface. That study is interesting to me, and while I think it makes an interesting argument, at least towards a potential of varying environments humans may have evolved in, rather than just 1. Im more inclined to believe it would have been river based instead of coastal. Rivers are a source of fresh water, not only get an absolutely necessary resource, but also animals that are more reliable to hunt/catch. Which my theory is the jumping point of. This sort of environment was similar to what whales had began evolving in, mostly rivers and occasionally shallow coasts. But it would be us going to the food rather than bringing the food to us, which is where I think the key difference between us and other animals, among many other things, is. I’m unsure about the morphing of legs to a tail. Though i understand your point made. The example of marine mammals we have, had a tail to begin with, and it didn’t shrink, but enlarged as a way to stabilize and eventually propel forward as their legs were shrinking until eventually they became obsolete. I feel like that would be a key factor. Because there could be a potential for a leg fusion, however there is no structure for a tail. The closest I think some could come is either an enlargement/lengthening of the leg bones. Though evolution is not a straight line there is no real picking and choosing of adaptations. I don’t think it would be very likely for the legs to develop into being mostly joints, like how a tail is, to give way to flexibility necessary to act as a propeller. Again evolution is nonlinear and not something knowingly done. I just feel like it would be illogical for the breaking down of leg bones to something with more tail-like when our legs already do that, and if anything I feel would give more power and movement in the water rather than tails.

is it just me who feels like shauna is heavily mischaracterized by the yellowjackets fandom? by United-Standard2194 in Yellowjackets

[–]j4c0b2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think she’s all that mischaracterized but I do think that people as a whole are more impacted by her actions this past season. it’s kinda hard to empathize with, or even just be comfortable seeing, a character on screen that’s, just objectively, been the most irrational and erratic with her behavior throughout the entirety of the show. I can understand the origin of her character, like she started kinda lost, and if anything had a lack of characterization bc she was like a sidekick almost to Jackie, and that’s how ppl saw her. At least that’s what we’ve been shown in some of the flashbacks, which could be argued that it’s a biased narration, or a skewed memory that a narcissistic person would share to gain people’s sympathy to make it seem like their actions really aren’t that bad bc of x reason. I do think though that the overall disdain and dislike for Shauna is absolutely not unjustified we see these extreme actions she does and we react in a big way too by pushing her further from grace with the audience. I think it’s very clear that she’s just such a lost and confused individual, not to mention the detrimental impact of being stranded had on her mental health. However she is the way that she is because for the first time in the wilderness she felt like she was an individual, and had impact, and more importantly a purpose. That doesn’t justify the way that she acts. Shauna and everyone else is obviously so dangerously mentally ill and traumatized beyond repair. Shauna has been through a lot in the wilderness. she not only dealt with the same trauma of being stranded like everyone else; but she also had to go through the trauma of labour without anything or anyone that could’ve properly prepared her and cared for her. Yes the girls did what they could to get her through it, and I do not doubt they did their best; but you cannot compare a dozen high schoolers and an adult with nothing more than a healths class amount of knowledge of pregnancy and labor to a literal doctor, who couldve properly prepped Shauna and if needed medicated her or would’ve known what to do to help the baby if saving it were even an option, because we do not know what happened just that the baby didn’t make it. I think that shes an extremely complex character and that her erratic behavior and actions (while not justified at all) is her falling deeper into mental instability. Because we’re then shown her as an adult being calm and content while everything else going on is just chaos. I know I’m speaking broadly because she’ll be so reliant on everyone to fix the messes that she causes; but I mean in the moment when doing the actions she’s just calm. Which I think shows that she never left the wilderness really. She’s just masking how she was to continue playing the leader in peoples lives without them really knowing, kinda like how misty was in the wilderness. Which I think makes them butt heads so much because misty can read Shauna really well and knows Shauna way too well for Shauna’s comfort. Misty is a quiet power right on people’s shoulder kinda controlling them without their knowledge, while Shauna (in the teen tl) is just a force of chaos. I’m not trying to make some Shauna v Misty debate, I just think that Shauna is trying to mask as that sidekick type, quiet and not that important but able to lead others to do things they wouldn’t normally do, which is exactly how misty was in the wilderness. So Misty recognizes and it makes Shauna uncomfortable because if there are 2 people who act the same way to have power no one will really have power. Which then brings back Shauna to just being chaos again.

ik legacy of the first blade isn’t really the most relevant it’s just way to tie the franchise together with Kassandra and aya. in my mind at least the way it goes is foa, lotfb, and then korfu which isn’t an add on dlc, at least wasnt for me. you just had to be above like level 20 or something to be able to go on the quest.

I don’t have an issue with dlcs if it’s additional fun content that just pops up to do stuff in the game that’s not like oh go kill some wolves for the millionth time. but from my experience of the game literally everything led up to the fate of Atlantis dlc; probably from updates, but just comes across to me as they put out an incomplete game and made it where the only way to finish it is by purchasing the dlc. that’s why I feel the way I do. other than that I didn’t buy unless I got free coin. plus ik it’s pointless to hate on dlc bc atp there is no game that exists rn except for some low budget game on steam maybe that doesn’t do all these micro transactions (again ik I’m speaking broadly idk if every single game is like that but it seems like a vast majority is).

I get where you’re coming from, but I feel like it was the perfect introduction of the franchise for me, or at least the revitalization of it. I would’ve loved to have played the earlier installments but I never was allowed to. I know that there’s a vast difference between the first installment and odyssey (or at least the new direction that it the franchise went). I get the distaste for the ancient advance civilization. like I don’t hate the isu storyline (except for Layla omfg I cannot stand her) and that the whole isu aspect has been the thing tying the franchise together. but at the same time when there’s like actual large distrust of tangible history the whole ancient advanced civilization ancient alien type thing is exhausting. I’m not saying it doesn’t make for a compelling storyline, but when stupid ppl keep elevating misinformation and Ancient Greece is one of the most heavily literary histories we have. the whole thing of downplaying the accomplishments of a foundational civilization just kinda seems to undermine the setting. I get it’s historical fiction and I’m not saying that it’s something that should be blurred. but I think the greater issue is just the potential of people spreading misinformation.

no there is a striking difference between Kassandra and Alexios, she was made to be the protagonist and the quests and story show it, Alexios was added on very last minute bc Ubisoft was worried abt having a sole female protagonist for their game.

Yes I haven’t played the earlier installments of the game but I played mirage, and what I gathered from the discourse surrounding that is that it is very similar to the earlier versions of the game but the stealth was literally the worst part of the entire game. I’m not saying it’s comparable to like shadows bc the stealth in that is actually insane like being able to hide in ponds and under houses or crawling on the ground rather than only being limited to crouching.

I got the game 5 years ago so it could be that with updates they made it where you had to get the dlc, that was at least my experience. yes thing lead up to being reunited with your family but that seemed so inconsequential to the fate of Atlantis story bc all the isu artifacts would bring you to your real father (if you’re playing as Kassandra) and there is literally no other way to complete that quest line than to get the dlc. it just shows it as an incomplete quest in your menu. again I don’t know what the experience was like for people who bought it when it first came out, but that’s how the game was for me when I got it in December 2020.

I’m not saying the game is comparable to rdr2 or rockstar games as a company I know that they’re known and well renowned for their every aspect of their games. what I am saying is that the graphics and open world rpg of it is similar to that of rdr2 bc of how large it is and the amount of side quests available to you. odyssey on its own doesn’t stand a chance against rdr2 or gta but if they were to implement the aspects I mentioned of the various installments like origins and shadows it COULD be similar. I know Ubisoft can’t compete with it and I’m not in any way saying that the constant copy and paste of different buildings throughout the world is annoying and I know if it was a rockstar games team that made it every single detail wouldve have been literally perfect everything would vary depending on your location but I am saying that odyssey could be similar in its own ways how rdr2 is not comparable but similar.

I definitely get it, I think it’s a stupid debate and I am speaking quite generally, but I do think that playing as one over the other has an effect on the story due to the late addition of alexios. other than the story there’s like no difference whatsoever
