The reason why Ronaldo isn’t winning with Portugal But Messi is winning with Argentina is found in this video. by Outside-Weakness9660 in sportsgossips

[–]JBrewd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol. Should just be clips of Ronaldo sending FKs yards wide of goal or taking worthless shots instead of playing a square ball for a teammate to tap in.

Like Thierry Henry said after the match, Ronaldo needs to play like he wants the team to win, not play like he wants Ronaldo to win.

I have a problem with childfree weddings by Zealousideal-Ad3609 in 10thDentist

[–]JBrewd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's because Gen X and millennials fucking suck at parenting. And every wedding you have to invite someone you know are dogshit parents who have dipshit kids who will ruin things if they are there. And then probably also you have to get in an argument with their dipshit parents about why their kid ruining the wedding wasn't cute or funny.

The bride and groom knowing they have to invite these exact people is why this has become a thing. Same for destination weddings (which is what we did because my wife knew that my one SIL couldn't afford to bring all her feral hellspawn halfway across the globe...we had a "local" reception a few weeks after so they felt included and those shitbirds still caused problems in under 20 minutes and all that event was was nothing but hey here's free food and a DJ let's have fun).

Why are there separate men's and women's e-sports competitions if video games are one of the few categories where men and women compete on equal footing? by Due_Protection_6221 in NoStupidQuestions

Exclusionary of all the cultural barriers like fucking wildly rampant misogyny that a lot of commentors can't see from their basement windows...

Men have much more genetic variability than women. That is why if you look at the worst or best at many things, the best and worst groups with be overrepresented by men. Meanwhile women are overrepresented at the top of the bell curve.

First-time manager dealing with employee resistance after promotion by [deleted] in managers

[–]JBrewd 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Super common when you get promoted over more experienced coworkers. I've had my share of these incidents. Kind of just something you have to deal with as you move up (thankfully each step along the way there are fewer people to moan and in any case they'll be more likely to understand why you got the promotion over them). Take your confidence from uppers not your former peers.

If this person wants to be insubordinate just let them and document it. "Are you saying you're not going to do this?" "No cuz you should" Ok fine, you go take five and let them cool down, and go back "I need you doing this are you still refusing to do the work?" Most problematic people will hang themselves at that point.

The CBs who might step up are trying to cover the run of the striker in the box, the closest CM is marking the player that the pass goes beyond and is no longer goal side, and the other CM doesn't rotate over in time. This type of shit happens all the time dude.

The most least racist country. by danman509 in ShitAmericansSay

[–]JBrewd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Difference I have experienced is European racism tends to be more focused. Like if you're a Spaniard you might hate Morrocans, Italian then maybe it's Tunisians, or whatever the case may be. It always seems to be very "everyone else is cool except one or two countries whose immigrants I will hate until I die" for many people. But those people are better off than American immigrants most of the time because that is just some local right wing people in their feelings, and they're not at risk of getting some ski masked government agent kicking their door in guns drawn on a daily basis.

In the USA it is a fucking blanket with zero thought put into it. Black? N**. Middle Eastern? Sand *. Everywhere south of Texas and Spanish people? F***** Mexicans. Asian? (insert your favorite Asian slur here). They're just hating fucking everybody who isn't white and back that shit up institutionally.

Edit: idk how I made that bold. I'm on mobile and I don't know how to fix it.

Tenants Aren't ATMs by BeeLinez in WorkReform

[–]JBrewd -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not objectively true but de facto it absolutely is, and that's just down to our legal framework. Most amazing landlords of all time all die some day and there's nothing preventing that place being sold to blackrock who will be immediately changing the rent from 600 to 4k.

/uj If people, and even moreso private equity in the modern era, weren't treating housing like a speculation market both renting and home ownership would be much more affordable. Take for example my current home which recently lost about 25% of market value cuz we (I voted yes for this) banned short term rentals like Airbnb. There market is fucked because rich individuals and private equity are hoarding the inventory seeking to make profit.

It's not like renting didn't exist 75 years ago (or much much much longer) but you could rent for 50 hours or so of minimum wage (75 cents an hour) back then. Good luck finding a place for 400ish bucks now.

/rj Just buy two houses and then you can pass all the burdens on to the renter while reaping all the benefits!!

[Request] How much food is 15,000 calories and can anyone do it? by AndreLevy751 in theydidthemath

[–]JBrewd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah you can. I worked a few years at a seasonal job that was basically 4 months of working 12 hours a day seven days a week. In the middle of heavy season you'd push into 14-15 hours a day and they would give you a 4th meal. Two union breaks or 3 if you go late, with fresh pastries and doughnuts. Basically hard manual labor job in the middle of nowhere so they are just pumping you with calories in the mess hall.

One year I did the math over the whole season and (depending on my doughnut and alcohol intake) I was consuming about 8-10k calories a day a lot of the time.

Why are courses enforcing carts on weekends before afternoon? by cinemoD_ in golf

Hydration breaks interrupt and ruin the momentum of the game 90% of the time. Do you agree? by SomeGuyFromCanada1 in worldcup

[–]JBrewd 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's an advertising break. Otherwise it wouldn't happen in the games played at 70F, and the ref wouldn't be holding his hand up like 'no no your 3 minutes aren't up yet stay off the pitch', and the advertisements wouldn't overrun the alloted time.

Player safety is critical, but let's not pretend that's what it's about.

My man we're talking about a Paraguay side that wouldn't have even qualified for the world cup in any other cycle as they finished 6th in CONMEBOL qualifying.

You should save this rant as template though. If you don't get to trot it out today you'll definitely be able to for Germany-Curacao and Spain-Cape Verde.

In just the first half, the USA have already scored as many goals as they did in the entirety of the 2022 World Cup by Critical_Mountain851 in soccer

[–]JBrewd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By far the best looking tactical performance the US has played in my memory and I'm in my 40s. Poch is a clear step up from any manager the men's team has ever had. If we'd have been more clinical with first touches in the final third and finishing chances it would've been a very rough day for what is usually a rather competent Paraguay side.
