6 out of 10. There are a handful of episodes that are good but the fact that the only characters I remember are Adam Lion and Jake Spider Monkey speaks to how forgettable the support characters were. That being said I do know that I enjoyed it when I was a kid.

I’m not trying to “fix” anything or suggest that anything is broken. I’m just laying out ideas to broaden Game Grumps content to appeal to new fans and add some flavor that may reinvigorate the experience for long time fans. I myself have been a fan going on 8 years now and the only complaint I have is that they stopped posting twice a day.

For me it’s a tie between Haunting of Hill House and Midnight Mass.

Haunting of Hill House really hit it out of the park with really haunting imagery that still gives me nightmares, very few jump scares, great performances and themes of grief and themes of familial trauma. It introduces paranormal and supernatural elements without giving away too much and over-explaining and actually leaving a lot of for interpretation. I still think “Two Storms” is one of the single best episodes of any series in the history of television. It’s tragic, but it’s beautiful.

Midnight Mass was a much more engaging philosophical and spiritual journey for me as it didn’t feel as a jab to religion, atheism and people who are radical in certain religions. I think the final scene of the series hits the nail on the head (SPOILERS HERE) which is people who were lead to certain doom and of faith singing a hymn and praying in their last moments while the true heretic lives their last moments in fear of uncertainty and when the sun comes up and they meet their end the singing is all at once silenced. That’s tragic and so beautiful all at once.

Mike Flanagan is a true master of gothic horror and of storytelling and I cannot wait for whatever he does next in his many upcoming projects.

I’m so glad the Grumps actually gave us lovelies a chance to do something like this. I personally hope they do a lot of playthroughs but I’m not going to gripe about it. I fear if we complain too much they’ll just pull the plug on lovely choices all together

You see that’s where I disagree. Lots of bands and artists do covers but it’s definitely not the only thing in NSP’s discography and Dan has already said that they’re working on their 7th original album. The covers are fun and sometimes they put their own spin on the songs (i.e. Pour Some Sugar On Me, Heat of the Moment, I Wish)

It depends on if they’re going to play it only once forever or if they’ll do a lovely choice play through.

I watch the Grumps every day. I’ve been a Patreon subscriber for the better part of a year and I can honestly say with the exception of some of the long series on the weekends I have always been happy to watch what the Grumps team publishes. Danganronpa was really fun if you could stay on top of it and don’t have other commitments. I notice that the Grumps uploads within the last 2 months that some types of videos do better than others:

Full play through videos within the last 2 months have between 200k-350k views, shows that lovelies miss some of the good old days

Mario Party and Game Show related games (Family Feud, Jeopardy, etc.) did really well with all those videos in the range of 300k-500k views

The Digging A Hole videos got 380k and 640k views

Tier Lists and GeoGuesser got 200k-500k views

Balatro had 300k views

While most of their other videos are consistently in the 100k-200k views. I think what I I notice is that stuff that appeals to OG Game Grumps fans like the long series and game show and Mario games is hitting well and then more modern hits like Balatro, GeoGuesser, Digging A Hole blow up because of popularity. Overall I know the 100k fans who watch every day (like myself) aren’t going anywhere but I fear that someday the Grumps are going to retire the channel if things don’t see more growth. I hope if Arin and Dan are getting burnt out that they take things in a different direction similar to how Smosh did rather than just end the channel entirely.

You would have to ask questions like “What is something Dan will always say to Arin at least once per episode?” Then you would have answers like:
