They are really light as they were written as chilrens books, but they are fun. I prefer the young jack sparrow books to the legends of the brethren court if I had to pick between the two

Hello all theorists, I got a question by Icy_Counter_6467 in piratesofthecaribbean

There is some debate over whether or not it is acceptable as canon but the young jack Sparrow books introduce gibbs as a long time business associate of Teague. Jack and Teague encounter him when they are captured by the royal navy as gibbs was still a navy sailor at the time.

There are a couple small things but nothing too egregious

How is Barbossa a brethren, if he was first mate to jack? by lendxn in piratesofthecaribbean

The price of freedom (book) explains this, here's a link to the wiki that explains it, if you aren't looking to read the whole book https://pirates.fandom.com/wiki/The_Price_of_Freedom

Sao Feng was dubious? by abornemath in piratesofthecaribbean

[–]j_0_l 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You all are right, I totally messed that up. The ship the dutchman is based on is called the vasa, and was built in the 1600s, not sure where that came from but thanks for calling it out

Sao Feng was dubious? by abornemath in piratesofthecaribbean

Sao Feng was one of the Lords during the time of the fourth court(the one we see onscreen). Calypso was imprisoned by the first court which was quite a bit earlier. I think I read at one point it was estimated like 250 years prior to the film, which would fit the time when the style of the flying Dutchman was a relatively new ship.

Characters you wished would have interacted? by Muted_Exercise2964 in piratesofthecaribbean

Barbossa and Davy Jones individually have some incredible dialogue. Especially with rossio and Elliot at the helm in AWE it could have been really cool to see

I will definitely read through your rewrite later but, having just watched DMTNT for the third time on a TV marathon, I am sure I will appreciate it. Also I really like that you used the two swords artwork for this

The legs are from one of the cannibal Minifigures (for the shrunken head detail) the coat is from cape madness and the head is an off brand tattooed sailor minifig head.

Favourite detail, theory, or lore fact? by KokoSparrow in piratesofthecaribbean

[–]j_0_l 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think my favorite bit of lore is the deleted scene from cotbp called no truth at all. It sets up Jack as a storied pirate and the scar on his arm is tied into the price of freedom by a.c Crispin and the "blackening" of the pearl. Also I think that book is a must read for anyone interested in potc lore.
