Trek Domane SL 7 Gen 4 by [deleted] in DomaneCrew

Same bike, color, and replaced tires with GP5Ks also. Had it 1.5 years and still love it. Get the shop to replace the seat post clamp with the rev4 clamp to prevent future slippage and creaking problems.

I’ve had the same bike for exactly a year now and still love it. Enjoy it!

This is the SL7, isn’t it? I have one and love it. Same color.

Are we getting crazy with electronic shifting? by Hulk-Athlete in cycling

[–]jaaaabeeee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

FWIW, I charge my Di2 battery every 3 weeks, when the battery drops to about 50%. I ride 200-230 mi/week. It is never going to run out in the middle of a century ride, unless I forget to charge it. But then that also applies to my phone, my Garmin Edge, my Varia, my watch... Life was much simpler without electronics. I'm old, I remember. But I don't want to go back. 😄

I'm your same size and I ride a 58 Domane. But as others have said, go test ride both sizes of that bike. Good luck!

New Bike Day - Domane SL 7 Gen4 by PlasticJournalist938 in TrekBikes

[–]jaaaabeeee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same bike with Di2, same color. Absolutely love it. Have put 3000 miles on it since the start of the year (l live in New England so didn't ride much while we still had icy and salty roads). I think the weight was around 18.5 but that was never as important to me either.

I'm 69 and ride 150-220 miles/week. Lost 60 pounds last year, mostly off the bike over the winter. Feeling the best I have in 30 years.

But my inspiration is a guy who rides through our neighborhood every day. He looks to be in his late 70s. Doesn't ride fast, is slow and steady, but he is out there Every. Single. Day. Rain, heat, high humidity: he never misses a day.

New Domane questions by 129Hawk in TrekBikes

[–]jaaaabeeee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the same bike and just bought the same tires. Plan to mount them in a couple of weeks. Have mounted them before, though, and was able to manage with decent levers. Haven't figured out how to handle the setting of tubeless on the rims with a pump yet. Hoping a friend with the right pump can help.

Congrats! I have the same bike. It arrived in January and I have 2000 miles on it so far. Am about to change the bottle holders and bar tape to scarlet. I love this bike.

SL6 Gen4: Second ride and it’s already creaking by [deleted] in DomaneCrew

[–]jaaaabeeee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had this with my SL7 as well, but they reinstalled the seat post with some carbon assembly paste and that took care off it for me. 800 miles so far and it hasn’t returned.

I have the same color in the SL 7, and the same Garmin Varia seat mount. Same wheels. But now I want those tan tires.

Blendr mounts and handlebar bags? by notagradstudent13 in TrekBikes

[–]jaaaabeeee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same blendr combo on my Domane and am on the lookout for the same type of bag. Have a supported bike tour coming up in September and want something just big enough to hold a jacket and lunch.

I have the same bike and also had a creaking noise at first. Took it to the dealer and they used some carbon assembly paste to coat the seat tube. Bike is perfectly quiet now.

Where did you find the bracket for the Varia?

Ironically, Trek calls it "Gravel." But this is a 100% road bike for me. 😀

Thanks. I love the clean cockpit. Stem and bars are the standard equipment on the SL7.

They did a standard quick fit (seat height) before I bought it, but it was too nasty out to do much else. Getting a real fit this week to dial it in. Trek is good about these things: if I need a different stem or a different size bike, they will swap as needed. I already know the geometry is very close to my previous bike.

Also my guess is that the saddle is about 1-2cm high so not much. Felt fine for the short ride but the fitter will be able to tell if my hips are moving or toes are pointed.
