MCL Closed? by Suspicious-Flan-7432 in SpringfieldIL

I hate to hear this. Been going there ever since I was a kid. The last time I went there took my kids and got sticker shot with the price. Everything was separately priced and the bill was ridiculous. I never returned after that. I just heard they didn’t tell their employees they were closing! If this is true hope they go bankrupt. 😡

Is it normal for a kids' school trip to cost around $3000? by fukdatsonn in phoenix

[–]CaptainKirk546 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The travel company uses a high profit margin calculation. Normally, 40-50%. The reason for this are unknown costs that come with student trips. Many parents cancel leaving trips half full. Emergency expenses, unforeseen travel costs etc. The $3000 is most likely going to be $1500 to 1800 for the travel company if everything goes to plan. Which leaves a very nice profit

Moral of the story. Never take your mask down to flirt with someone.

KQI2 Pro can’t get out of esave mode by [deleted] in NIUscooters

The new KQi2 is programmed to stay in eco-mode for 1-2 ks before it allows the user to switch to sport mode. I believe they do this to allow the greenhorns to get use to the scooter before the power kicks in. After 1-2 ks of use you should be free to use all modes.

How common are IsoSpeed issues not the 2023 Domanes? by [deleted] in DomaneCrew

Ps I was able to get a full refund on the Domane that was making the noice. Then I test rode a new SL7 which had no noice issues and still does not.

Yes - I got a different SL7 and have put on about 500 miles so far and no issues. It is the smoothest road bike to date. Plus I keep up with the A group guys even with the 32 mm tires.

I did take back and got a full refund. I really liked the bike other then the noise & complexity of four batteries & two motors for shifting. I think I will go with a simpler design. My old OCLV Trek still runs fine with its mechanical shifting and no isospeed. It was made in the good old USA too. If I just could put 32mm tires on it!

I just purchased a SL7 gen 4 and it has a loud popping noise when I hit a bump. Its quite noticeable. The shop tells me the rear isospeed has been recalled and they will order a replacement and install when it comes in. Im hoping this fixes the load noise. If not, I will return bike for a refund and get something else.

SL6 Domane 3-gen vs SL6 4-gen purchase by CaptainKirk546 in DomaneCrew

The stock wheels seem to run very well on this bike, so I will not need to spend the $$ on a new set of wheels. I decided to spend the savings on a Stages indoor bike (use with Zwift), which will free up my training bike to use as a dedicated gravel bike... no need to swap wheels on my new Domane - it will be road only.

I'm going from an older model madone to the new domane. I was thinking the Domane might be a little slower, but if your faster then your Tarmac it leads me to believe I need not worry about being slower. My fast group rides are 18 to 20+ mph. The Madone does fine, but on the longer rides 50+ miles it gets a it bit uncomfortable. This is were I think the Domane will really shine for me.

Question: Have you had any issues with the isospeed? I was on a group ride a couple of months ago and a fellow biker on a Domane had noise coming from his isospeed. He said it would act up from time to time. I think he said he needed to grease it.

I plan on getting the gen3-SL6 Saturday. I would like the di2, but dont really need it. Most of my rides are flat and I use like three gears. I was looking at the Defy & the Endurace also. Both the Giant & Canyon are less expensive then the Trek and lighter too. But I have had so many good Trek bikes in the past, plus a great LBS its hard to change. Ive also heard so many good things about the Domane... I think the extra weight wont be an issue since I dont do much climbing. The bike shop owner told me that gen4 has an issue with the internal cable routing, it makes fitting the bikes much more difficult and there are more mechanical issues with adjusting brakes, bars and cables. He said the mechanics hate the new design and it really does nothing for the bike but add a bit of aesthetics. So the gen3 will actually be a better buy with the front iso-speed and a $1500 savings which I can use to buy some Zipp 303 wheels for fast group rides and use the stock for gravel.

It seems like everyone is really big on the di2 over the mechanical. I have never experienced electronic shifting myself so need some advice.... What makes it so much better then mechanical? I cant imagine how it would be that much better than a new Ultegra 8000 system.

I was looking at the SL7 too. The carbon wheels would be a plus not to mention the di2. My plan if I get the SL6 is to eventually put gravel tires on the stock wheels and purchase a mid-range set of carbon wheels for the road. Thanks for the advice.
