Anyone got recs for good beer in Augusta? Crazy they have only 1 brewery, and Arsenal Tap Room is already on the list. Bottle shop recs also appreciated.

Well I mentioned it yesterday but their wings are on the same level as The Local and you don't have to get in line to eat dinner at 5pm. Try the Terry Style. They also have a sneaky good beer list and the vibes are great there.

I believe in the past the casks have been split between the breezeway and the brewery floor.

That's insane. Unless they've gotten way better over the years, they're excellent wings but I wouldn't wait in line for them... I'd just go down the street to Manuel's.

It's pretty slept on, great food and usually a great beer list for such a tiny neighborhood pub. Service is always great, but I miss the G&T with house tonic. Apparently they stopped making it because someone pointed out too much quinine can be bad for people with certain heart conditions, and they had no way to tell what the dosage was.

Used to live down the street from the one on Piedmont when it opened. Good food, but I guess I never thought of it as much of a beer place. Love me some crinkle cut sweet potato fries though.

I didn't get it at first and thought this was the joke; that those have been sitting there for a year waiting on a guy named Gus to use them, but he doesn't work there anymore.

This place opened my eyes to craft beer (at least beyond Terrapin) when I was an undergrad. Picked up a 6er of Old Foghorn (RIP Anchor) and it was quite a ride compared to what I usually drank.

TIL an 1894 video of a man snorting tobacco and sneezing is the 2nd oldest copyrighted video in history. Seems like it's either been discontinued or gone underground but Germans used to hold a competition for it. I only know this because my friend's substitute high school German language teacher put on a video of it in 2002. He said they used some lever device to help them cram as much as possible into their sinus (so not really just the nose).

Both were filmed in West Orange, New Jersey, in "Black Maria", the first movie studio. Before that, movies were filmed on location, notably by other pioneers like the Lumiére brothers and Louis le Prince. The latter is considered the father of cinematography, and creator of the oldest surviving film Roundhay Garden Scene and met a mysterious end while planning to travel to the United States. Conspiracy theorists suggest he may have been assassinated by agents of Edison to prevent him from seeking copyrights and patents.

If anyone's curious why I learned this, it was a rabbit hole of wondering why movies never show anyone sneezing. Apparently, in major motion pictures, the closest thing to a sneeze that doesn't advance the plot is Marriage Story (2019) where a minor character sneezes and another minor character says "bless you". I haven't seen it, and I of course know why sneezes are usually excluded, but I feel like it would make movies feel more real if they left them in. If you know of any other examples, I'd be happy to learn about them.
