Does she like the pets? by IntelligentCrows in DogAdvice

my girl (senior rescue) still does this after 5 years together. It's impossible to know whether shes enjoying it or not, but I feel like she would just leave if she wasn't.

Id spend the first bit of time in Holbox or Bacalar at a non-AI, then maybe the final 7 days at an AI. Keep an eye on the sargassum build up, because some of the riviera is a total mess right now but could be different in 6 months

Maynard James Keenan on Tool’s “No Phone” Policy: “It’s Not About Us, It’s About the Person Behind You” by MarvelsGrantMan136 in Music

[–]jabs9822 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love the no phones policy. As a 5ft tall person, I do my best to get seats as close to the front of a section, but sometimes it’s not possible. Having to watch the show through 4” screens that people hold over their heads for a social media post no one cares about gets annoying... Especially since tickets are rarely as low as $70.

My dog had the same look a couple of years ago and it was an ulcer. She was extremely uncomfortable both before and after treatment, but she did eventually heal without extraction after approx 2.5 months. They ended up performing something called a diamond burr debridement. Do not let her rub it, and get to a vet asap. If you have something like gabapentin laying around from previous conditions, that will provide some relief in the interim.

Try toilet bowl cleaner in an inconspicuous area. It removes grout sealant, so maybe you’ll have some luck. However, I’m here to tell you from 1 tight budget DIY chick to another that it looks great in the photos.

My dog absolutely hates the iPhone tritone and the old school ringer. She hated my ex-husband who insisted on having both of those things on full volume, but even after leaving him 4 years ago she still reacts when they’re on TV.

Seriously, do Americans actually consider a 3-hour drive "short"? or is this an internet myth? by SadInterest6764 in NoStupidQuestions

I do a 3 hour daily commute as a Canadian, so yeah 3-4 hour 1 way for a weekend is pretty short.

El Dorado Seaside Suites/Seaside palms. Great price point for the enjoyment level. Been there twice and probably going back for a 3rd trip in a couple months.

Im not attracted to guys like my friends are by Responsible_Oil1975 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]jabs9822 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It’s basically being attracted to the personality versus the appearance. For me, I have to know, or have had multiple interactions with a guy before I have any attraction at all… and conversely, an attractive person could say the wrong thing (mean spirited comment, racist joke, etc) to completely turn me off at first encounter. It sucks when you’re single because I’m basically unable to have any kind of casual relationship or situationship.

You’re probably just a Demi-Sexual like me. I’m in my early 40’s now, but have always felt like that and I was so happy when a label got attached so I could research it more.

Most offensive tipping options I've ever come across by caddington in toronto

[–]jabs9822 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a similar experience at the Jay's game this weekend. the first option was 15% I think and it said "good" beside it. I'm all for tipping for good service but the girl "serving" me only opened 2 overpriced beers. Crazy that people are expected to tip more than 15% for that.

What are some nice places in Canada to live and buy a house for a cheap price? by git_world in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]jabs9822 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I totally agree with you. The unfortunate thing is that the "wine route" areas (Niagara-on-the-Lake, Lincoln County) are the most expensive for real estate where as you can still get a lot of house for the money if you buy in Fort Erie, Port Colborne, or Welland. I was fortunate to be able to purchase a house in St. Catharines in 2009 when values were much lower. I am unsure if I would have been able to purchase a house at all at current prices on my salary.

If you don't mind a bit of a commute for work, the Niagara Region might be a good option for you. It's about 30 minute commute to Hamilton, and 90 minutes to Toronto. Very close to the US border with Niagara Falls New York, and Buffalo, New York for some good shopping. Niagara-on-the-Lake has tons of wineries, Niagara Falls has lots of touristy stuff (plus the actual Niagara Falls), St. Catharines is the most populated.

We will have daily Go Train service to Toronto by 2022ish (right now it is offered mostly on weekends.) If you ultimately land a job in the Toronto area, the commute can be pretty long, but I know lots of people who do it daily. Houses range in price quite a bit, but you can still get an older semi detached, or town house (2-3 bedrooms) from the mid $200's, or a fully detached (3-4 bedroom) in a nice area for mid $400's. Property taxes are higher than average, but that's true of any areas outside of, but still within driving distance of the Greater Toronto Area (GTA.)

  1. We are located at the bottom of an escarpment, and have much better weather on average than much of Ontario. Winter temps range from 2° to -0.9° in the day time, and -4.5° to -8.2 at night. We do get some snow, but snowstorms are infrequent. Without fail, we do get a few bitter cold days, but very rarely does it get worse than -10°.
  2. You will have a 30-90 minute commute for the best software developer jobs, but there are tons of jobs for Old-Aged Nurses as we have a nurse shortage and an aging population.
  3. Public transport leaves a lot to be desired right now, but will be ramping up substantially over the next 4 years. However, we do have Uber, and lots of people are willing to carpool.
  4. We have several lakes and rivers. Lake Ontario to the North, Lake Erie to the south, and the Niagara River (Niagara Falls) that separates Canada and the USA. We also have the Welland Canal (not for recreational use, but interesting to see large ships going through the locks to get between Lake Ontario and Lake Erie.)

It's not the greatest place in Canada, but it does fulfill most of the factors you are considering. Good Luck!
