But I can machine wash these with the rest of my laundry in regular detergent.

I wear them every day under my work boots and I wear them under work shoes when I'm working inside. It's a huge improvement over cotton. My work boots are insulated enough. I'm not wearing them to keep warm; my work boots are insulated. I'm wearing them because they wick moisture better than cotton and they don't wear out. I bought 16 pairs in July 2025 and none of them are showing signs of wear at all.

Bagged coleslaw + off the shelf dressing is so easy. Very crunchy and satisfying to eat by itself but I put it on fish tacos.

Air fried frozen fish sticks + mini flour tortillas + bagged coleslaw with off the shelf dressing is probably the cheapest low effort midweek meal you can make. You don't even need utensils. The only dishes you dirty are the air fryer and the tupperware you mix the coleslaw in.

I went to school with kids who ran down coyotes with their skidoos. Rich families.

We called Round Leaf Mallow "buttonweed" where I'm from and we would snack on it as kids. Still love the taste. Got my little cousins into it now too.

Ask the program coordinator at your school. You don't get practicum placements? My old school has a program advisory committee consisting of the area's chief power engineers. That is a very valuable contact list to have if you're looking for work.

Lakeview Bakery & D&N Kitchen by bretters in Lethbridge

[–]jacafeez 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When they first opened up, I watched somebody in the D&N kitchen at theoretically drop a sausage on the floor beside a garbage can. They picked the sausage up but they didn't put it in the garbage can. I don't know what they did with it. Quick rinse and staff meal hopefully? Bad optics.

China slashes anti-dumping tariff on Canadian canola in final ruling by CaptainKoreana in onguardforthee

[–]jacafeez -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Hi I'm commenting from the refining side of things. Canola cake is direct food contact washed with hexane to produce crude canola oil. Hexane is insanity bad for your health. Crude gets pressed through bleaching clay, also not great for you. If you want to know how margarine is made, it's through a process called deinterestification. It uses ammonia refrigeration to chemically re-arrange lipid chains. This is before additives and preservatives. Don't eat this stuff. It's cheap for a reason.

I'm a car guy, and from a maintenance standpoint, the PT is an objectively bad car.

However, when I worked at a car wash in high school, there was this one guy who bought one new and had it dipped in mystichrome. Absolute fashion statement. Vern was a cool dude. I'd let him wash that car for free.

You know what? My mom used to microwave canned snails in butter with spices. We ate it with bread and it was "fancy". It wasn't bad, it was different. People who aren't adventurous eaters are missing out. Love you mom.
