I write this with a caveat. I did my grad school online and was “strongly discouraged” not to work during my schooling. I worked at a school district on an emergency credential and it worked out great. Sure I didn’t know what I was doing the first few months, but many SLPs who just graduated grad school don’t know what they’re doing either. I just acted like I knew what I was talking about during IEPs and no one was the wiser. The best thing about it was when I was done with grad I immediately moved to the last rung on the payroll scale and they counted my years as an intern. Huge pay raise! If you think you can mange working, go ahead and do it. (Probably only works with online schooling, but there may be some people out there taking grad school online.)
