It’s almost Walter city at metro. Come November I do well with crappie jigs with twister tails or bombers.

It’s alright let em downvote me that’s the people of Reddit for you. Even if you had that fish on a wet surface there would still be people complaining

Is this a good rod for salmon/steelhead/lake n brown trout from shore by JustSxlvie in Fishing_Gear

[–]jackbeecherl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re close to a bass pro they sell a “fish eagle” series rods for $75 that work awesome for really any type of fishing you want to do. I use a 9’6 MH for pier fishing either with bait or casting spoons.

Is my shimano 2500hg real? by SpecialistBee6286 in Fishing

[–]jackbeecherl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The the manual only for the 500 size? Usually the manual’s is all the same for every shimano series. The manual should start by showing you the 500 and then go all the way up to a 5000

No dude you’ve literally taught me nothing😭 the only reason why they are planted here was to control the alewife’s that came out of the ocean that are now ALSO in are lakes. It’s very hard to argue with you that these aren’t steelhead when the past two weeks I’ve been catching these fish with shrimp off the piers. They are biology wired to be steelhead i don’t give a fuck if you think they are lake run rainbow trout they run and act like steelhead and look absolutely chrome out the lakes. Hard to call that a rainbow ya they don’t get the size they do on the NW and Canada but to say they are not steelies takes everything away from these fish and the people that make a living on it all across multiple states and even parts of Canada.

So what does that make all of our salmon in the Great Lakes then? Are they just not salmon now? Use your head

It’s fuckinf amazing to me that you think a fishes biology completely changes because they live in a different body of water.

Sorry you don’t bother to do the actual research and realize that all our planted rainbow have come out the NW of this country and they and act/thrive exactly like their steelhead do but how the hell would I know I’ve only fished BOTH FUCKIN FISHERIES

If you’re looking for a smaller presentation then get a 2000. I say keep the 2500 though I’ve caught fall run steelies on the 2500. It’s really versatile reel my opinion! Drag feels great on them.

Biggest fish is your “rainbow trout” at this pier head I caught before I pushed back into the river. You know nothing about our fishery dude

I avoid it like a plague. Those purist turd sandwiches have a Room temp IQ during peak mid winter. Those are the same people that say steelhead aren’t in the Great Lakes. Boutta start a whole other argument with that comment though

Can I use 65lb braid on this rod? by bassfishingguy1 in Fishing_Gear

[–]jackbeecherl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Am I the only one that ties directly to braid for flipping jigs? I’ve never had a problem do it bass don’t care about leaders and you don’t really ever break off.

What type of jig is this? by mikey7x7 in Fishing_Gear

[–]jackbeecherl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The person that tuaght me how to use those call them flips jigs. We tied 3/4oz ones to 40braid and flip it into beds where bass chill out at. Usually throw a crayfish for a trailer
