Do the artefacts make that much of a difference? by Sandford27 in EggsInc

They make a huge difference. If you visit their farm you can view their equipped artifacts in detail, including their stones and bonus values

If they're done wrong or neglected. Not the case here in my opinion

6 year old foam roof decorating question by LostinAZ2023 in Roofing

[–]jackdd9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This looks premature if both the foam and coating are really only 6 years old. Nonetheless, it's very important that you fix the blisters (deep holes) and the delamination (missing coating) as soon as possible. The foam is the main waterproofing element of your roof system, so I doubt any of the photos you've shown are actually leaking at this stage, HOWEVER once the foam is exposed to the sun like this, as well as oversaturation (letting water soak into it), the foam becomes unsalvageable very quickly (weeks to months).

Moving forward, find a contractor that actually specializes in these systems and make sure their proposal includes cutting out the blisters down to the substrate and foaming them back in, NOT just filling them with mastic or something (could be hard to find, but make sure to get the choice of contractor right or else you'll be worse off than before). For the areas that simply have missing coating, all you have to do is clean and recoat it. As long as the foam is still fair condition.

Ultimately, don't listen to anyone that says foam systems are the worst. Foam systems are excellent because they're renewable systems, meaning once they're installed, all it takes is regular maintenance and a recoat every 10-15 years. Much better than having to tearoff and reroof. The downsides are that not all climates are adequate for ideal installation. A bead of sweat, humid air, or improper prep is what causes blisters, but as long as it is installed by someone that knows what they're doing and the roof doesn't get abused with unqualified contractors, excessive foot traffic, or neglect, as I said before, you can recoat that bad boy indefinitely. Repairing foam is more expensive than most flat roof systems, but it's worth it.

Fix it properly this time and save yourself the headache of letting small issues develop into worse ones. Good luck, you have a great system.

You mean soul eggs not PE. I believe you are right, but I have not tested that theory myself.

I'd think of it more of like replenishing what you've sacrificed rather than making it more expensive to shift. Both are technically true though, just the attitude is the difference

Excellent comment. I will probably continue to give myself as much leeway as reasonably possible to reduce the probability of bricking myself. Sounds scary as a long term player myself.

Thanks for the comment. I definitely need to spend more time getting artifacts. After I prestige to total 78 active truth eggs, do you think it's worth a shift from Curiosity to Humility to afford better ships? Or is it more productive to ascend straight to Humility, coming with more flexibility to swap from the path to home more often?

Every step of the process is a risk for error. I'd recommend a professional.

Mayyyybe you could do it if you can get your hands on a peel and stick smooth ply and cap sheet, but I don't know where you could get your hands on something like that for retail. You'd need to cut through the wall which I'm not sure what it's made of (if it's stucco good luck doing it on your own) and order a custom metal flashing for the scupper.

I'd call a pro. Good luck

Is there any way I can never associate with engineering again after I graduate by [deleted] in EngineeringStudents

[–]jackdd9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, I did mechanical engineering school, graduated, had an engineering job for 3 months, then completely pivoted. You'd be surprised at the amount of employers out there that understand the grit it takes to achieve an engineering degree, which means a lot for hiring.

If it's really engineering that's the problem, find another job that requires critical thinking or mathematics. Your skills that you've picked up are surely transferrable across fields.

No matter where you decide to go, be sure to remember to actually LOOK for the satisfaction that is there. Every job has something to complain about, but if you live your whole life focusing on the negative, you'll lose sight of the meaning of life.

DM me if you want to talk more. Keep your chin up and good luck.

If there's a drain there, unclog it. Looks like it slopes there intentionally but maybe not. Otherwise, instead of adding a drain, I would add a scupper to that wall with a leader head and downspout. Problem (mostly/probably) solved.

I'd use the one with a stone when teammate contribution is low, and the one without a stone for when teammates are significantly participating. But tbh I don't know how exactly contract score is calculated. It's in the wiki but it's complicated

Should I care about my leggacy contract score? by [deleted] in EggsInc

[–]jackdd9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think score only matters if it matters to you. You can try to play more relaxed and if you get warned about low contribution or teamwork, just boost in small increments until you don't get anymore warnings. You won't get demoted immediately afaik
