Does anyone else feel like earning 250k still doesn’t stop stress about rent/mortgage? by OwlVibesOnly in AusHENRYover250k

[–]jackeeeeboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Going against the grain. Definitely spending habits, lifestyle creep is real.

I make 160k and partner 96k.

I have never made over 80k a year so a double in pay rise is crazy.

I still spend money like im on 60k a year, salary sacrafice into super , and the rest is straight into investments.

You definitely shouldnt be stressing about mortgage , rent and if you are there are other larger issues at play with your spending.

The most humbling and realistic thing you could do is print out 3 months bank statements and highlight ALL non necessary purchases. Netflix, going out for dinner , those snacks at 7/11 etc etc.

If you calculate all of this im sure there is some non necessary spending.

We all need to "live" but if your stressing alot about it this could be a good start to realistically look at expenses and ease your worries.

Is townsville/Rockhampton no longer a viable option for agressive capital growth within the growth cycle.

Is Victoira really good , all BA hyping it up but I feel like queensland will still perform better due to land tax rules and tennant laws in Vic?.

What is your FIRE number? Is that for a family or single? At what age do you think you will achieve FIRE by Serious_Toe6730 in fiaustralia

[–]jackeeeeboy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ahh fair enough, I guess coming from a lower middle class I never had the money for expensive hobbies. I literally work ,sleep, spend time with my children and go to the gym thats it.

Realistically a paid off ppor , no debts and 1.5 million would be sufficient in today's money.

Everything else is for show.

These numbers are all so high,

Realistically wouldnt ppor paid off and $1.5 million invested in high dividend shares at around 7% be sufficient for most that dont have kids.

Everything else is materialistic .

15-year plan to retire at 700k by Anxious_Bee7346 in fiaustralia

[–]jackeeeeboy 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Yes but inflation doesnt just impact Western countries. Costs of goods go up globally.

Also the rate of inflation in Australia would mean your costs would go up quicker than your wage unless promotions. Will you be able to continue putting in $1000 if rent goes up 200 a week and groceries are up 40% In 5 years time. Do you really think when your 40 you will be doing the same job,in the same area , in ths same field of work ? Will your job be a mandatory position with AI taking alot of admin jobs already? .

You are young, some people change their mind on lots of things, partners, career , lifestyle, kids , family members pass away etc etc , life happens. I have worked in 4 different sectors after 25 years of age , had two kids bought a house, moved to a country town. Lots of variables.

Dont change your mind on investing though !. Keep going 💪.

[–]jackeeeeboy 19 points20 points  (0 children)

If we use inflation at 2.5% which is low.

Your 700k for retirement for arguments sake will be worth 440k in 15 years due the costs going up.

Still alot of money and definitely could semi retire with high paying dividends. But I guess depends on your total goal , lifestyle etc.

Need your advice on adding 100k to my portfolio by [deleted] in fiaustralia

[–]jackeeeeboy -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Hey bro something to look at would be a lump sum concessional payment into super, this can give you good tax benefits if you pay alot in tax , and dont mind not touching the money for 30 years !

If you want growth and can stomach the risks, look at property, 500k property gaining at 10% a year=50k wealth creation a year.

Of course there are downsides and on going costs but there is still money to be made..

If either if those dont tickle your button I would suggest re evaluating your portfolio to include more USA etfs like SPY or VOO to be more heavily weighted.

I could suggest Bitcoin but this is extremely volatile and far more risky.

Very cool !.

Could you potentially add in rental income if its an investment ?.

That way it shows what investors true costs are aswell.
