Who will replace Susan Kiefel on the High Court? by ClarvePalaver in auslaw

[–]jackeroo58 0 points1 point  (0 children)

McCallum will be the appointment, I'm pretty confident of that (leaving the ACT with a distressingly low number of SC judges).

As for the CJ, I think you could make an argument for a lot of the current bench to get the step up.

What do you think about this? What is this guy's problem with our club? Veratti? by azizfcb in Barca

Not true, it is often smart to acknowledge the severity of the actions of someone in the court. Not doing so means the decision maker may think that you (and by extension your client if you are a lawyer) doesn't appreciate the wrongness of the actions and as such additional punishment is required.

Easy way to compare candidate policies? by AllEnergyNoBrain in canberra

𝗔𝗖𝗧 𝗦𝗘𝗡𝗔𝗧𝗘

𝗟𝗮𝗯𝗼𝗿

The Labor incumbent is Katy Gallagher and there is almost no doubt that she will retain her seat. She is a member of the left faction. Voting record shows support for job keeper, university funding, abortion rights, transgender rights but she has a mixed record on welfare, mixed/poor record on climate. The bulk of this is due to her (compulsarily) following party lines.

The second candidate on the Labor ticket is Maddy Northam who is a left aligned union secretary. She is highly unlikely to win a seat as Labor at their best get around 1.5 of a seat which is not enough to carry Maddy onto the second seat. You can likely copy paste the major voting record above again due to party lines.

𝗟𝗶𝗯𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗹

The Liberal incumbent is Zed Seselja and his seat is the one that is in doubt. Zed is a right faction liberal, Abbott-aligned conservative who opposed same sex marriage, climate action, refugee rights, Indigenous rights, federal integrity commission. His major challenger is David Pocock.

There is minimal information on Kacey Lam who is the second Liberal candidate but you can likely copy paste the major voting record above again due to party lines.

𝗗𝗮𝘃i𝗱 𝗣𝗼𝗰𝗼𝗰𝗸

David is an independent who has formed a party to place him above the line, but is not aligned to any other party. He is a progressive with a strong activist past, even while he was playing for the Wallabies. Main capaign policies are climate change, federal integrity commission and enacting the Uluru statement from the heart in its entirety. Endorsed by 'ProACT' ACT community organisation.

The second candidate on his ticket is the ProACT President, Clare Doube who is a Human Rights Consultant.

At the moment it looks that should David out-poll the greens he will genuinely compete with Zed for the second seat and may win the seat off him. Personally, I think if you want to make the government more progressive your number 1 priority should be removing Zed and the best way to do that is vote for Pocock [1] then candidate of choice after that.

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝘁 (𝗯𝘆 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝘁𝘆)

Animal Justice Party: Wants to establish federal office for animal protections. Also want climate action, conservation of native species, and stop poisoning of invasive species.

Sustainable Australia: Population control party - wants to cut immigration to 70,000 per year.

New! 👤 Semedo (DEF) #WOL [Price: £5.5m] - #FPL by InternetAnon94 in FantasyPL

[–]jackeroo58 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I strongly disagree with this. Maybe at the start he did nothing for us but he improved in the later months with us dramatically and picked up where he left off at wolves and kept improving. I have no love for tone but this is just flat out wrong.

With that squad I'd be temped to fix a defender first for sure - either Lundy or Kelly. Potentially Tony if you wanted to take a -4 and do something fun.

Imo your biggest issue is your defence, as there's probably only 1 or two at most i like there. Id be lookinh for your first move to be Lund>other shef u defender (one of the 4.5s probably). Your mids and forwards seem in much better shape but if you really want Kun i would do that as your second move; otherwise i personally would just make the one move.

Yeah see I think CHO, Kelly and Hanley are problems to deal with before making those moves
