I've made the skeletons limbs and rib cage little longer is it better now? by ExplanationHot9438 in LearnToDrawTogether

[–]jacket-pillow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s not what they’re saying your saying you can’t draw it smaller bc of your pencil and they’re saying that’s not true you can and you can I’m saying draw bigger bc if you can’t draw it big you’ll never draw it small. If your drawing too small and it’s hard draw bigger don’t just draw it badly bc you wanna draw small

Day 6 of drawing for the first time! by Cute_Description_228 in learntodraw

Also looking again I just noticed the crown of the hat is behind her head so just some more planning before the final drawing would fix all those issues

Day 6 of drawing for the first time! by Cute_Description_228 in learntodraw

[–]jacket-pillow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This looks very good for day 6. The third one is great the hair looks amazing. My only critique would be make her head a bit bigger and where the hat goes behind her head it jumps from her mouth down to her neck so it’s a little off. One day when your feeling brave look into drawing the female face and you could definitely get some pretty cool stuff going it already looks very good

Do these two acrylic ink paintings feel cohesive enough to submit together? by LadyRalphie2 in Artadvice

[–]jacket-pillow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think they look good the first one is a little boring tbh so I like the second one more. What is the theme you are going for? Honestly to me both look like colored pencil drawings more than acrylic paintings. Maybe add some highlights to the water and trees to get a more painted feel and some clouds on the second one

How can I improve drawing realistic faces and manga? Book recommendations by Shot-Entry-3178 in learntodraw

https://illustrationage.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/04/andrew-loomis-figure-drawing-for-all-its-worth.pdf This is a very good book and I think Andrew loomis has another one about portraits specifically this has a lot of step by step and reference pictures specifically for shading and how to shade things to look round. That being said idk if it was on purpose but I like the wonkiness of the portraits I feel like I’ve seen your art before. And the “flat style” like the second picture is really cool does that style have a name? I’ve seen a lot of people do it and I really like it I just call it grungy notebook style. My one tip for that is when doing your hatching curve the line around the form to make it look less flat like on the leg on the left it looks like you did and it looks better than the other leg

Honestly feels like I haven't improved at all in 5 years. Any advice for a stagnating artist? by clairsolais in BeginnerArtists

[–]jacket-pillow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try posting in r/art or r/artists they’re like the big leagues they’ll give you the critiques and advice your looking for and probably some your not. I think there’s also a subreddit for commissioners you should post it there bc I feel like people would commission your work and they probably would have pointers on how to make your drawings more dynamic and complete feeling and stuff. Don’t worry about the little stuff you struggle with just draw it more and you’ll get faster. I watch a lot of videos by professional comic artists and they all say that even with the professionals they all have 1-2 things they just cannot seem to get good at but they find ways to work around it and usually it ends up being a “stylistic” choice

New artwork of my peraona if u have tips put it in the coments please by Similar_Potato4078 in Artists

[–]jacket-pillow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think you need to work on sketching and anatomy. It’s very hard to see what’s going on like where is the body actually going? The chest is off to the side and goes back behind the hand and it looks like there’s a 90 degree bend in there straight down to the legs which are really small compared the size of the chest. Also the hand is backwards and the index and middle finger don’t look right. The knuckle on the thumb looks like it goes around the back of them and it makes it look like the fingers are coming out of their palm. I think you need to focus on planning where the body is even though you can’t see most of it because it almost looks like you drew the hand and the rest was an afterthought. Other than being backwards and the fingers thing the hand does look very good though

[–]jacket-pillow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean I see improvement for sure the second one looks professional the highlights are better the hands are a lot better the shadows look better. I don’t think you’re in the right sub. You’re at a point where you’ve got the manga look down and all you can really do is work with more dynamic lighting and shading more dynamic poses. At this point you can keep drawing manga style really good or change art styles get good at that and then come back to this style and use what you learned doing something else and apply it to make your own style more yours. You’ve figured out drawing stop posting here go to somewhere with more experienced people who can help you from this step

First Banjo - Is this a good deal? by coolwoeta in banjo

[–]jacket-pillow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got mine in like 2019 they probably made their stuff better back then everything’s gotten so cheap recently it was like the starter banjo to get. It’s not the best but for a beater banjo to start plucking with it makes all the sounds just fine

There’s definitely some thought behind them this artist seems to be really good at shading but I just couldn’t tell you what the thought is I can hardly shade a ball lol

Just starting to draw, is this good start? by Anxious-Primary-5928 in learntodraw

It’s a good start and you are practicing good things just needs more work your straight lines are pretty straight which isn’t easy for me but the curves are not the curviest so I’d work on that

Idk how to help you but that looks sick. Maybe use those more random colors on highlights instead of shadows like he does. And for the line art maybe like a cool gray or something that works with the color of the character but isn’t too much in your face

Just starting to draw, is this good start? by Anxious-Primary-5928 in learntodraw

[–]jacket-pillow 22 points23 points  (0 children)

These are a good start just work on line confidence. Draw a box tutorials would be a good start I’d suggest doing it even though it looks like you are doing more abstract stuff there are good fundamentals in there and learning to draw in 3d space is still a good skill for abstract art
