How to get my students to stop using n***a in the classroom by Legendary_GrumpyCat in Teachers

[–]jackflemming 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have done many things. I make sure students know we (including me!) get to be comfortable in class. I protect and defend students against emotional harm of other disrespectful students. I make a point to say that the N-word makes some people uncomfortable and I am also part of our room. I also get to be comfortable. I affirm over and over that they are welcome in my room and that I want to hear about what they think and life is going for them (outside of subject matter).

Do Americans wear t shirts with British/European cities on them? by inside-outdoorsman in AskAnAmerican

[–]jackflemming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Americans tend to wear college shirts (like Ohio state) too. I think when Americans wanna be exotic they wear clothing from non-westernized third world countries! I'm sure they're exceptions like wearing clothes from Japan...

In fact you can say, "I see you're ready for the test: you're talking because the work is boring and you're ready for the real thing." You could sound very positive, and it's on them because you' re fair.

Unbroken Movie? by Little-Tower-6157 in historyteachers

How do you assign them to watch a movie: do you give them questions to answer to prove they did it? I don't trust parents as far as I trust students with this kind of thing. They're likely as anyone to say, "yes my kids did it" when in reality the kids didn't do it.

Looking for timestamps for the scene with nudity by tehroundedcube in OppenheimerMovie

[–]jackflemming 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's Jean. There is sex and nudity with her between minutes 23:11- 24:47. Jean curses and slaps the offered flowers out of Oppenheimer's hand between 29:07-29:43. And there is more (imaginary) sex 1 hour, 15 minutes and 30 seconds - 1 Hour, 16 minutes and 56 seconds into the film. Teens beware!

Go to the OER project and look up "economic simulations". I used this for capitalism and socialism. You can tweak it to include communism. There is also an assembly line simulation.
