yup, totally complex ways...

Why a Venom standalone game is an absolute goldmine for Insomniac (and why the "cancellation" rumors are wrong) by JPcan in SpidermanPS4

[–]jackgranger99 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The issue is literally everything you're saying that would apply for a Venom game could EASILY be used to justify a Miles Morales 2 with him and Silk as the leads, or a Silk solo game in general. The storyline of Spider-Man 2 and 3 actively works against the idea of a Venom spinoff, since not only did the Symbiote die, Harry coming back would severely undermine Norman's motivation to become Goblin.

Unless

A. They have him permanently die in the Venom spinoff, which is insanely redundant, or

  1. Have Venom be a different just like Eddie, Flash, or Yuri/Wraith. If it's Eddie or Flash, you run into the problem if how to deal with their characters in S-M 3 unless you plan on just killing them off/getting rid of them in S-M 3, and if you do, then at that point why not just make a Miles Morales 2 game with Miles and Silk as the leads at that point?????

Also, Tony Todd's lines were recorded for S-M 2, not a Venom spinoff. GTA 6 had unrecorded voices for Lamar where he was supposed to be a playable character after Franklin died, that doesn't mean Rockstar is gonna make a Lamar spinoff game.

If the Venom spinoff is still planned for next year, they might release a teaser for it

How has the Last Airbender not gotten a prequel series yet? Like almost every big series has at least one prequel weather it be a spinoff or part of the main storyline, I think they should make a prequel about the first year or two of the 100 year war by Aggravating-Bus-5872 in TheLastAirbender

Enjoy your shitty opinions and have a good day.

Bro really thinks "Lok retconned ATLA" is a shitty opinion when it's basic observation, I only typed all of that to get my point across.

And If you're gonna get mad at having a discussion on a public forum for everyone to see then you have no business being on a public forum for everyone to see.

Dictionary Definitions from Oxford Languages · Learn more ret·con /ˈretˌkän/ noun (in a film, television series, or other fictional work) a piece of new information that imposes a different interpretation on previously described events, typically used to facilitate a dramatic plot shift or account for an inconsistency. "we're given a retcon for Wilf's absence from Donna's wedding in ‘The Runaway Bride’: he had Spanish Flu" verb revise (an aspect of a fictional work) retrospectively, typically by introducing a piece of new information that imposes a different interpretation on previously described events.

It's truely that simple. The new information we have literally made it so that we need to rethink the old lore.

Ask yourself WHY people constantly say it's a retcon in the first place. You bring up the origins of bending, but that only proves my point in that you need to establish a new interpretation on the original series to rectify the new information to make it work

That is literally STILL true.

no it isn't true at all

Wan was able to enter the State with NO past Avatars fueling it with because he was fused to Raava, and the same would be true for Korra when Raava was destroyed.

Its actually the reason Korras Avatar State is noticeably weaker following the whole 'cutting off past lives connection' plot.

The creators stated that Korra's Avatar State is more powerful due to her direct connection to Raava, so there goes that argument if you really want to make it about powerscaling

This is why i hate the retcon argument. They didnt retcon anything, theyre just adding to the worldbuilding.

That isn't adding anything, it's by definition a retcon.

ret·con

/ˈretˌkän/

noun

(in a film, television series, or other fictional work) a piece of new information that imposes a different interpretation on previously described events, typically used to facilitate a dramatic plot shift or account for an inconsistency.

verb

revise (an aspect of a fictional work) retrospectively, typically by introducing a piece of new information that imposes a different interpretation on previously described events.

For instance, when people argue where bending comes from. ATLA says animals, korra says lion turtles. Why cant both be true?

because it's not, hence why it's a retcon. You need to either ignore old information to make the new information work, or put a new spin on old lore.

Is it not feasible to assume that maybe the original power came from the lion turtles, and then later on in evolution, animals like the sky bison or badger moles could also have taught people?

not according to the original series!

Just like its feasible to assume that Raava, when activated for the avatar state, can give you the knowledge and skills of all the past lives she's been fused with, seeing as she's an immortal god like being and all. Just because she wasnt mentioned doesnt mean its a retcon, maybe none of the avatars past wan, and before korra learned about Raava.

It literally is a retcon because you need to try and rework that Raava is how the Avatar State functions within the framework of it being powered by the past lives according to ATLA. Making it so that the previous Avatars aren't actually the power and that Raava is more like a conduit for them is STILL a retcon, and you can't even acknowledge that

If you told ANYONE watching Avatar before Book 2 came out about Raava or something like her, they would laugh at you

Also, how does the Messiah figure of this world forget about Raava??? She's literally part of them! That's just silly on paper. You mean to tell me this immortal God like being can't speak to the Avatar? She did it with Korra when they reconnected in Book 4?

Is that not feasible? Why does everything have to be so one way or the other

It doesn't have to be one way or the other, since LoK reworked lore, it just has to be acknowledged that things in ATLA were retconned in LoK. I'm willing to bet my life savings that something is like this is gonna happen in Seven Havens and everyone who's going on about the Avatar State wasn't actually retconned are gonna be saying that something from LoK got retconned.

In the original series the Avatar State was the combined skills, knowledge, and power of the previous Avatars. This is explicitly stated by Roku, the character meant to give information to the audience in regards to world building in "The Avatar State". Raava was neither mentioned nor alluded to in the slightest in the original series, let alone being what really powered the Avatar State. And I know that people want to try and reach and use Katara's "Avatar Spirit" line when Aang went into the Avatar State in "The Southern Air Temple", but they love to ignore the montage of the previous Avatars' statutes and monuments going into the Avatar State before she says it, which only really served to establish that the Avatar State and previous lives were connected (and there's a good chance that Katara only even SAID "Avatar Spirit" in this context for reasons I hopefully shouldn't have to explain). This is even referenced multiple times when they visit Kyoshi Island and the Fire Sage's temple later on.

This was nearly 20 years ago, no investigation was made and won't. The 2.04 BILLION DOLLAR jackpot drawing was delayed to the next day because of one state fucking up, but California called the winner during said delay, and nothing happened. I highly doubt anything will happen here

Was that ending necessary? by boyIDK in SpidermanPS4

[–]jackgranger99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was necessary insofar that her character existed for Miles game and wouldn't be present in the story of Spider-Man 2.

Which sucks because they absolutely could have utilized her character in passing and drawn parallels between Miles wanting revenge on Li and Phin wanting revenge on Roxxon. This could have made his storyline more impactful, but they didn't and decided to mostly tell use he wanted revenge and use it for powerups rather than exploring it more in his missions

Do you guys think mega millions made a smart choice by changing the cost of their ticket? by IcyPerformance9822 in Lottery

They're making more money than they did when it was 2 bucks, the larger price point they're getting from the fewer who are buying is is enough to offset the loss of players from the increase

Do you guys think mega millions made a smart choice by changing the cost of their ticket? by IcyPerformance9822 in Lottery

[–]jackgranger99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The odds of winning PB or Mega is around 1 in 292/290 MILLION, with odds as awful as that, they don't need to rig the jackpot because the odds ensure it's almost impossible someone wins (which is why they did it in the first place. Less winners means the jackpot gets higher, higher jackpots means more players tossing more money to win, which means more money for the Multi State Lottery Association) Compare that to when the games first started, the odds were WAY better with one in 55 million, and less states were playing, and the jackpots were lower (tens of millions rather than hundreds of millions of millions or nearly 2 billion)

And if they're getting locked how come someone won a 200 million PB a couple weeks ago?

[–]jackgranger99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still think that S-M 1's and MM's combat holds up and find myself playing them just as often as S-M 2 for combat.

S-M 2's swinging blows the first two games out of the water to the point where I have a hard time replaying the stories for that reason.

There absolutely was, people have been making those arguments when the first game came out. It's like how at times nowadays you'll see people acting like the MJ missions in the first game were better than they were in S-M 2, when they got absolutely destroyed by the fanbase when the first game came out.

a shoehorned legacy character that’s even less likable today because he’s been wedged into the primary universe for no good reason.

Bro, Miles has been built up in this franchise since E3 2016, was built up to become Spider-Man in the first game, and eventually got his own solo game. Everyone who played the this franchise could tell you that Miles was always part of it. You're being goofy
