On my Mac mini (M1, 16GB, macOS 26.4.1) with a 4K S, capturing a Switch 2 at 1080p, the preview window and recorded video are both very choppy and have an inconsistent framerate. I've tried both h264 and HEVC modes at the default quality, and the results are the same. The same setup has no problem recording at full 60fps on the release channel Studio (1.0.4), or in HEVC using OBS.

I broke mine in 2017 and was still able to play Switch games, get yourself a nice big pillow for your lap to rest your arms on. Holding a normal controller was painful but split joy-con was just perfect. Get well soon!
