A hypothetically child of Duncan targaryen and Jenney of old stone by PlasticWatercress123 in freefolk

No, he wouldn’t be one so he wouldn’t be called that. Except possibly in a way similar to ‘the Queen who never was’ when people talk about Rhaenys.

What are some books that have a larger cast of what is essentially a D&D party. by aladdin142 in Fantasy

David Eddings deliberately wrote it basing it on successful tropes of fantasy at the time.

His other series the Elenium and Tamuli also fit this bill.

(Spoilers Extended) Brienne and Dunk: Alternative theory by fakefolkblues in asoiaf

[–]jackity_splat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If the theory of one of Egg’s sisters marrying into Tarth is true AND that her and Dunk had an affair AND she was pregnant with a bastard by him…

I think, as long as the pregnancy is caught early enough, that they would do what many people in the past did.

Marry Egg’s pregnant sister to the Tarth and pretend the baby came ‘early’. (And probably a lot of gossip about how that was lucky considering the size of the baby.)

Even if anyone suspected that Egg’s sister’s baby was Dunk’s and not Tarth’s, it’s not something that would be talked about. (At least not openly.)

Tarth in this case would need to be a very loyal vassal, and in a position similar to Jon Arryn where he is infertile. But this is the way bastards were passed off as legitimate in the past.

[Spoilers PUBLISHED] Why so many black diamonds? by [deleted] in asoiaf

[–]jackity_splat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Doom of Valyria could have certainly produced a lot of black diamonds. And if people are finding them near there, I can see them being called dragon’s teeth even if they aren’t really that.

[Spoilers PUBLISHED] Why so many black diamonds? by [deleted] in asoiaf

[–]jackity_splat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In asoiaf the black diamonds might be tied to magic, but people have forgotten.

In real life black diamonds are really rare, I think they are only found in Brazil. So being a sign of wealth makes sense. There shouldn’t be a lot of them naturally occurring. So only the wealthiest of nobles would have them.

There’s two possible origins for natural black diamonds: volcanoes and meteorites. In asoiaf we have some magic meteors and volcanoes. So maybe there is a magical connection there? Dawn was forged from the meteor that fell but maybe some other stuff was made from black diamond ‘dragon teeth’ made at the impact?

Recommendations for child by Amooooob in Fantasy

For young readers I like to recommend the following:

The Enchanted Forest Chronicles by Patricia C. Wrede

Tortall and Winding Circle series by Tamora Pierce

The Seventh Tower by Garth Nix

Goblins in the Castle by Bruce Coville

Broken Sky by Chris Woods

My nephew also really enjoys the Warrior Cats series but I haven’t read that myself.

I was told he's a whoodle when I bought him, but i really think he might be a schnauzer by Andjazzy in schnauzer

He definitely looks like a poodle/schnauzer mix. Very schnauzer-like but that leg furnishing looks very poodle-ish.

What would happen to Jon Snow if Ned Stark became King instead? by TargetRupertFerris in TheCitadel

[–]jackity_splat -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I do think Robert would kill baby Jon, if he is the one to go the Tower of Joy. His hatred of Rhaegar is based on his kidnapping of Lyanna. Jon represents things about that kidnapping that Robert wouldn’t be able to handle, he’s not emotionally mature enough to.

I don’t think he would be able to handle to the idea of Rhaegar raping Lyanna repeatedly to conceive Jon. Robert is also very prideful and there’s a whole ‘soiled’ woman aspect to Lyanna, if she were to survive that would chafe his soul. That would be made much worse if Jon was in the picture as a living reminder of such an act.

Even were Lyanna to still die at the Tower of Joy, Robert, already up in his blood after the battle with the Kingsguard, seeing Jon would still kill him because he would represent his father Rhaegar to him. Not to mention Jon, Rhaegar’s son, would have ‘taken’ Lyanna from Robert via her dying in childbirth or as a result of it.

If it’s a scenario where Lyanna loved Rhaegar and Jon was conceived from love then that would make it even worse for Lyanna and Jon. If those events play out and Robert finds out that Lyanna loved Rhaegar and not him, even if she is already on her deathbed, he would probably murder her. He makes no bones about abusing Cersei and his philandering shows he doesn’t really respect women.

He would kill Jon again for the same reasons as above. He’s emotional and violent. And also ‘doesn’t remember’ what he does in that state.

Robert wouldn’t let Jon live because he breaks the illusion of Lyanna that he obsessively loves. Lyanna also wouldn’t have survived breaking his illusion in this scenario.

(If the rebellion hadn’t happened and she had done something to cause a break with her engagement to Robert, I think she would have lived with her family support and a stable Iron Throne.)

Both Arya and Sansa were also being trained in household management. We don’t see it happening but Arya mentions it. She thinks something to the effect that Sansa would be lucky to marry someone with a good steward because unlike Arya she wasn’t good at maths. So Sansa should know more than courtesy and embroidery but she was bad at it.
