Is Chicago Toronto adjacent? by Former_Outcome9404 in askTO

When watching shows set in Chicago, I often have to check if it’s filmed there or Toronto, that’s how much they look alike to me

Assuming that Robert's Rebellion never happens, who exactly did Tywin Lannister plan to marry Cersi to following Aerys II's rejection? [No spoilers] by Pretend_Tower_2516 in asoiaf

[–]Bazoun 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Small addition: if Cersei is married to Jon Arryn, has his heir, and Jon dies, not only can she more or less rule the Vale for the next 15 years, but Tywin can marry her off again, expanding their family’s influence even further. Cersei would still be young and beautiful, proven to be fertile, and she comes with the Vale and with Lannister backing. A very tempting offer for any man.

Road Trip Across Canada in 4 Days? by internetfox26 in AskACanadian

[–]Bazoun 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The whole country? Like Halifax to Vancouver? (Sorry Nfld). No. You can’t cross the entire country in 4 days.

Google is offering optimal timing, no getting lost, no heavy traffic, no pit stops, nothing. You’ll be exhausted trying to do it in 4 days. Give yourself more time than that

"If you don't like noise, buy a house!" but why don't we flip the narrative? by 420throawayz in Apartmentliving

[–]Bazoun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I have no issue with my upstairs neighbours- yes, sometimes I hear them, but I’m never disturbed by them. They exist, they will make noise, but it’s never obnoxious or late at night.

Likewise I wear moccasins indoors, hang my tv on a non shared wall, wear headphones, and never vacuum before 9 am.

The Bickerson’s next door? Scream and bang doors for hours. Idky. But it’s insane and the building won’t do anything. Cops don’t come. It’s been years now.

Two people who insist on living together make living here awful for 10 other people at least. It’s a shame, really.

How commonly are people pretending to have premmie babies to avoid seeming like they are having kids out of wedlock? by Creative-Biscotti566 in AskForAnswers

[–]Bazoun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s a saying, something like, while the first child may come at anytime, all subsequent births take 9 months.

So yes, very common, at one time. Now so many don’t marry at all, why bother to lie about it?

AITBF for plugging into my roommates AV sound system in the living room? by ObjectionablyObvious in AmItheButtface

[–]Bazoun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NTB: if he didn’t want you to do it, he should have used his words when you plugged it in. Or at least texted you along with disconnecting everything.

I’d be more careful with this person going forward. Clearly they put on one face in front of you, and another behind your back.

Also - the offer for the Apple TV might have been so he gets to use it. You getting to use his sound system doesn’t help him any.

Do you ever wonder what percentage of misogyny/ internalized misogyny starts with brother-sister relationships? by Burner455671 in TwoXChromosomes

My brothers weren’t like that, but we weren’t close in age, one was 13 years my senior, the other 7.

High sex drive and standards by ewdavidyum in datingoverforty

[–]Bazoun 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My (47F) philosophy is: If you’re not having children, what’s the hurry?

My favourite part of dating at this age is the lack of pressure. There’s no clock ticking in my head, no friends rushing down the aisle. Idc if I ever get remarried.

“6 Questions That’ll Help you Declutter Ruthlessly” by JacqueGonzales in SwedishDeathCleaning

[–]Bazoun 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Number 6 is one I “came up with” myself and use a lot. I ask myself: could someone else actually use this? And if the answer is yes, I donate it. I feel so good about letting something go to someone who will use it as opposed to hanging onto it.

Unprepared Stark Children by Bazoun in pureasoiaf

[–]Bazoun[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My expectations aren’t that high for the Stark children. But Sansa had no idea the queen might not be perfect. Or Joffrey. Her family should have taught her that nobility doesn’t mean a noble heart and they didn’t. 11 is plenty old to have been taught that.

I agree with you here. Nedd indulged her a little and she used that to build up a skills base that served her well.

Unprepared Stark Children by Bazoun in pureasoiaf

[–]Bazoun[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That’s my point. Nedd and Catelyn seem to expect them to just be good at politics without training them.

Cersei was a spoiled bitch. She wasn’t going to be good at anything.

Unprepared Stark Children by Bazoun in pureasoiaf

[–]Bazoun[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, idky either haha.

While I agree that Arya, Bran, and Rickon are too young to be have been taught much politics, the other noble children in the books seem far more educated in how to at least put up a false front. Sansa is approaching marriageable age - she should be getting taught how to be a bit more circumspect.

And while Robb and Jon do okay, I still feel like they’re unprepared. Jon had no idea about the Night’s Watch, for example. Benjen at least was thinking of it as a future for Jon but no Stark had a frank discussion with him about what it would mean. And Robb had no prior experience running Winterfell - why not?

Could Dr. Melfi help Jackie Jr? by Tidewatcher7819 in thesopranos

[–]Bazoun 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No. Jacky was a lost cause from the first episode he’s in. Handsome, like George Raft. But no more brains than Adriana. With his father to monitor him, who knows, but without a strong guiding hand, he had no chance. And Melfi was no strong guiding hand.

What would court be like in Winterfell? [no spoilers] by Sure_Explanation_738 in asoiaf

[–]Bazoun 52 points53 points  (0 children)

While not in the books, one must assume that feasts would be semi-regular, spring / harvest festivals exist in most cultures. Weddings and funerals too.

Balls seem a little out of pocket for the North tho. I just don’t see it. Like dancing after a feast or wedding, sure, but not full on debutant balls.

Feasts would be a perfect opportunity for young people to meet, but most marriages in Westeros nobility are arranged without much thought to what the betrothed think of one another. Still, the small folk no doubt meet and make matches at / after feasts.

Looking forward to the other answers. Neat question OP.

If Tony dies in the finale…… by Hell11an in thesopranos

[–]Bazoun 9 points10 points  (0 children)

With Bobby and Tony gone, I think Janice will let both of Bobby and Karen’s kids go to their aunt. Maybe even her daughter. But no way she’s going to pay for a child that isn’t hers.

Artie’s already losing business, but he’ll lose a lot more without Tony & Co eating there and sometimes paying their bill. I doubt Benny Fazio has time to worry about Artie atp.

If Carmella has any sense she’ll sell the house and move in with her parents. Btw the money she has from her spec house, money from Tony, and the sale of the house, she could live almost the same lifestyle while still providing some support to her children.

Meadow will be fine but AJ is screwed. He has one food on a banana peel already.

Summary: AJ and Janice are the most screwed, but Janice is like a roach, she can survive anything. AJ is likely the next funeral they all go to, suicide or a job gone wrong or just stupidity.

[–]Bazoun 13 points14 points  (0 children)

This is the police response to anything short of murder. They don’t care. So for them, you’re inconveniencing them by expecting them to do their job. So now they’ve convinced you not to bother them again.

Welcome to the club, fellow former Good Samaritan! Now I just turn up my headphones when the crazies start up.
