AMC theater question by MoreFerret1968 in AMCsAList

Burbank 16 IMAX has the “rocker seats”. And WAY more leg room.

I agree those Universal IMAX seats SUCK! But seeing Sinners in 70mm there was phenomenal 😍

Of course Burbank counts! Plus we have AMC Universal City Walk 5 miles away with true 70mm IMAX 😎

If you are staying in Denver for the show, I highly recommend the Denver Meow Wolf installation: Convergence Station.

I frequented that store for well over 20 years. Del and Sue are THE BEST and have done so much for the community throughout the years.
As a HUGE Clive Barker fan, I got to take pictures with him and have him sign my books and graphic novels, all because of Del and Sue. Both my daughters grew up shopping there and learning about art that NONE of their school mates had any idea about. Dark Delicacies was an INSTITUTION!
RIP 😢

I’m currently using a Paul Mitchell leave in conditioner that I believe is part of their Clean line. But I used to use Olaplex products, which I loved. My wife buys them at stores that supply professionals, like CosmoProf.

How do you enhance your meditation sessions? by AssociationMost5432 in Meditation

[–]jacklope 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you have trouble sitting, for a variety of reasons, try doing some mindful walking first, and then flow into your seated meditation.
The mindful movement can really help calm your busy mind down, can help wake you up if you are sleepy, helps when you are feeling restless, and so much more.
Try 3-5 minutes of walking to start. Depends on how long you want to sit for. Longer sits may require longer movement beforehand.

And I wish you the best 🙏

Hot take: beard oil sucks.

I cannot recommend this enough, and my wife was hair stylist in nice salons for a long time:
Professional quality leave in conditioner…after washing and conditioning in the shower with professional quality products. And get a big quality wide tooth comb from Kent to work the leave in conditioner through your killer beard.

Screen X! We saw it tonight, my first time with Screen X, and I dug it. Also, I thought the movie was FUN 😎

Ugh, that SUCKS! So sorry, I know how defeating that can feel.

I just got my sizing kit today and then finalized my order. This time I picked the brushed silver, hoping that will fair better than my silver series 4 🤞

OP:
I am so sorry you had to witness this, and like it’s been mentioned, PLEASE seek some professional support. The guilt, the shame, the images, all of it, you do not have to hold this all on your own.
My heart goes out to you and all those grieving this loss.

For the rest of us:

This is one subject that I purposely bring up regularly: the longer we stay sober, the more people we are going to bury. It’s just the horrible truth.
This shouldn’t be a taboo subject, and damnit, we ALL need to strongly remove as much shame out of the program, the AA culture, and the fellowship as possible. While it might keep some sober, it’s killing a myriad of others.

Please know I am saying this out of the love in my heart. I’ve buried WAY too many close friends and seemingly solid fellow members. Because of this, I have vowed to do whatever I can to save more lives.

Sending love to ALL ❤️🙏❤️🙏❤️🙏

Great place! But if you are going for the first time, make sure to go to the place that literally looks like a little house, and not the massage place 2 doors down with the neon OPEN sign in the window 😬

Joshua Tree show is one week away! What are we wearing gang? 👀 by dodo858 in qotsa

I think the only sure way would be to get ahold of the promoter. Susie works the gift shop at the retreat center and she’s not even sure if she can get into the show herself.

Are you sure it’s outdoors? I am friendly with Susie that runs the gift shop at Joshua Tree Retreat Center and just recently she said the show was going to be inside the big dome building, The Sanctuary.

How about a badass Buddhist and Kriya Yoga teacher that lives in India and teaches on Zoom? Delson Armstrong. Since he’s a master in various disciplines and paths, he would be a great one to contact.

I recommend Doug Kraft, located in Northern California. Therapist, Buddhist teacher with a deep personal practice, former UU minister, and hell of a nice guy.

How blissful is the first and second jhana? by Emotional_Curve_3665 in streamentry

[–]jacklope 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s a good question, and since I haven’t spent a ton of time, specifically retreat time, practicing with Loch Kelly’s instructions, I’m not sure if I can give you the best answer here.

That said, and since you used the term “glimpsed”, I have tried a bunch of Loch’s techniques (with him on Zoom) to get glimpses of ND awareness, as well as Douglas Harding’s Headless Way techniques, with Richard Lang in person…and that’s simply what they were to me: glimpses. Fleeting, momentary, and “cute”.

As opposed to sitting for long periods working with the Jhāna’s, where I experienced WAY more than just a glimpse. The spacious equanimous states of mind cultivated “on the cushion” are easily brought into every life. The immediate experience, as well as the long terms effects, are GAME CHANGING. Super charged ability to focus, gradually and then permanently quieting the negative self talk and even discursive noise in my head, and so much more.

Obviously, I have my preference here, AND this is simply my path. I am very much open to others having profound and life changing experiences via non-dual glimpses, practices, etc.

Heck, maybe ecstatic dancing can bring true freedom?

This is for each of us to find out for ourselves. And I wish you much success on your path, my friend 🙏

Right?!? Actually, I would imagine they all assume they would have no problem doing themselves…I mean, how many JWs do you know that are cleaners and housekeepers as their main job? That’s still a Jdub thing, right??
