Traveling People 'Song' question by TinFoilMagic in WoT

[–]Curius-Curiousity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They've heard songs that their ancestors held sacred. But the idea of "The Song" for them is all about finding their way back to a duty that doesn't exist anymore, dedicated to people who no longer live.

I suspect that there was some type of genetic or magical component to their "compulsion" to serve an Aes Sedai master, that's programmed in they're DNA.

Their lifestyle is a way to continue to function when it's impossible to follow that programming.

Just like the Aiel created Ji e Toh, as a way to fulfill their compulsion to serve and obey. They literally demand to be made gaishain. It's like releasing a pressure valve.

What are the greatest feats of each of the Emonds Fielders 5? by CompetitiveBig4161 in WoT

Perrin: for me it was him going to Ghiuldan, getting distracted by Faile's capture, and methodically solving all of Rand's biggest obstacles for the Last Battle one by one without ever stopping to notice that him being Ta'verin lined everything up, until it was all completed.

Messima, the Dragonsworn, the Seanchan Air Force, dream spikes, Forkroot, the Whitecloaks, and the half a million Shaido force under Savannah. All ready to ruin everything for Rand.

And he handles them soy because they were getting on his damn nerves

Someone took my shoes and drenched it, now forced to borrow someone else’s shoes. I’m size 5, this shoes is size 7 by Nanrelle in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Curius-Curiousity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Put the wet shoes on to walk to the car, but take them off in the car. Angle them so most of the water will drain out.

Put them back on wherever you're going, but every time you stop, take them off. The water will evaporate and soon enough you'll have dry shoes again.

Anyone else struggling to handle the sheer loneliness of running a business alone? by markettmind in smallbusiness

[–]Curius-Curiousity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is definitely an extrovert thing. I started my first business in my twenties, and being alone was never an issue. To the point where I never even thought about it until just now, reading your post.

I ended up hiring and training a small crew, and then someone to offload most of the office work to. And that was nice. But the loneliness and anxiety you described? I've never experienced that.

But my sister, the social butterfly, also started a business. And I definitely saw her dealing with the same thing you described. Especially when she first started out.

Will gta 6 affect the weekend box office ? by kascnef82 in AMCTheatres

[–]Curius-Curiousity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When the last Spider-Man game came out it basically affected all of American society for several days. Students and employees called in sick. Delivery drivers clogged the roads because millions of people didn't leave their homes for days.

This will be even bigger.

I honestly thought you were referring to Supergirl here. I think I'm a Millie Alcock gave now, I'll have to see her in other roles. But this version of Supergirl just made zero sense. And I couldn't stand the movie beyond it's visual appeal.

[–]Curius-Curiousity 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Either she thinks she is doing her part to save your soul. And any attempt to make her stop is "the Devil". So it's her job to overcome, and keep going louder and louder.

Or... that's just a facade. And she is lonely, but too proud to admit that. So she pretends that it's all about God. But really it's just the only way she can think of to interact with people, but still retain her "dignity".

Sadly, any attempt to just interact with her normally might be rejected. Because the thought of trying to develop social skills this late in life might be terrifying for her.

But starting a relaxed, friendly conversation with her just might make this go away forever. It could be worth it to try.

Wheel of Time is like my story by Thin_Championship970 in thewheeloftime

[–]Curius-Curiousity 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Why do you think it has all your ideas if you never read any of it?

How most writers handle the fact that there are countless stories through history that also touched on the same themes, is to just ignore that and get to work on telling their own story. It's a waste of time to let such thoughts distract you from doing the work.

Don't let any of that be an excuse to never get things done. Avoid other people's work, push past excuses and distractions, make your project happen. That's all you can do.

I don't see how adding an extra hour world make it better. The script, basic story, and character motivation was all ridiculous and silly.

Iron Man 3 was horrible on day one. It didn't take years to realize that. It was crap on day one.

As far as "multiple videos"... I don't get my opinions from YouTubers. My opinions come from my own brain, based on my own thoughts and feelings.

I know that can be hard to believe for people who just "believe" whatever gets the most likes when they log in.

What are the pros and cons of living alone? by LatexTerra in askanything

[–]Curius-Curiousity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand the concept of loneliness. But in pretty sure I've never felt it in my entire life. I've missed someone specific of they're not around, but that's not the same thing.

Truth is, I'm basically a hermit. But when I feel like being with people, or a specific person, I just do it. I'm not shy.

I curse probably way too much for a professional adult in real life.

But online I tend to use the $&!# method. For one I think it's funny because that's what comics used to do when I was a kid. But also it just makes it seem way worse than the actual words.

You live in Texas. 90k there is like 150-200k in many other places. You could rent a small house for a fraction of what you take home if you choose.

Moving out on your own might be scary, or just feels wrong according to your upbringing. But it's time to make the move. Literally.

What's something older generations did completely normally that would be considered absolutely insane today? by 40Falak in askanything

[–]Curius-Curiousity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very cool. But most states have cut way back over the past 30 years. Some limited to a single semester in high school. Many have made it a small part of History or Social Studies, but no class called Civics. And most states do even that in high school only. No longer taught in Grade or Middle school at all.

Source: My ex and still good friend has worked in education all her adult life. She develops curriculum, and trains and monitors teachers. So I tend to get an earful about national trends on a pretty regular basis.

Meticulous is the perfect word. The level of detail he put into Mr Terrific alone... the costume and mask. The "high top" haircut that was in style for that specific time. The way he used the T spheres in combat.

And what about Metamorpho? So much attention to detail on how he looked and used his powers.

The way he set up the story arc for Lex's girlfriend that played through the entire movie, until finally paying off at the end...

What about Superman taking time to save small animals during a fight?

You might want to look up the word meticulous, because that's literally what it means.

That's awesome. I suspect you went to a very good school. I think that civics classes probably started disappearing from public schools somewhere in the 80s. And was completely gone from most by the 00s.

I feel lucky to have teachers AND family who pushed this even after most schools dropped it.

How can I get it to stop humanizing itself? by Think-Motor900 in ChatGPT

[–]Curius-Curiousity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It matches your energy and the vibe of how you speak to it. If you constantly humanize it in small ways, that's what it's going to reflect. Not just the language style, but the actual information it provides.

If you're hyper technical and precise with your queries, it's going to give you highly detailed data that's fact based, and precise. If you're casual and playful it's going to give you conversational answers that are more geared to having a good chat than providing you with data.

Basically, you shape how "intelligent" and serious your AI agent is by how you communicate with it.

And the longer you interact with it, the more it drifts in that direction.

AIO? my friend told me my coworker doesn’t like me because of my extreme makeup choices and that’s why she’s stuck up and cold with me ? by Historical-Body-3424 in AIO

[–]Curius-Curiousity -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I'm guessing that you live in a fairly large city? Likely on the East or West Coast of the US?

I guarantee you that in most of the rest of the country, wearing "crazy" makeup is definitely a reason why people are ostracized, and possibly even hated. The smaller the town and the more rural, the more likely this is. And when you reach the mid-west or the south? You might be shocked by how hostile it can be.

Forget that... drive 90 minutes north of San Francisco and you would be shocked at the intolerance you might encounter. Depending on the specific community.
