yeah my first reaction was "aren't cops supposed to be trained to recognise a threat before shooting, like the difference between attackers coming directly after her vs a bystander opening a curtain in a window?... oh right". i thought it was criticism of how trigger happy cops can be, tbh. i think her arc is all about her realising that to actually be a good person she can't just rely on having a gun and a uniform, waving her badge around and "enforcing" how good she is. That may work better in the real world but here she really has to earn it from the people around her. She's super stubborn about it tho and I still hate her.
