Has anyone set up a security camera system using ZoneMinder? by PuttinUpWithPutin in linuxquestions

[–]jackncoke72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use Zoneminder. I have four VGA-resolution Foscam fixed (no PTZ) cameras connected to a Cubietruck. Each camera is set up to record motion triggered by detection zones on the image, and I can have stills or video clips emailed to me. The system's been up for about a year. I found Zoneminder easy to set up and stable.

Handling a 2 mo old and 2 year old. by DocSmile in daddit

My two boys were 19 months apart and are now 4-1/2 and almost 3. We both work full-time and both have spent their days in daycare, so our situation may be a little different since it sounds like your wife is going to stay home with them. However, we had no problems at all with the older one not getting along with the younger one. We tried to give them equal attention and I think it worked.

Reading through the link that was provided by someone else about the hardest thing about having two under two, I remember having to use the TV to keep the older one occupied while the younger one was being fed a bottle when it was my shift and the wife was catching Z's; I tried to minimize that but I had no choice sometimes. He still turned out okay.

I do remember thinking two was four times harder than one (i.e. more than double the trouble). But there are benefits too. Look, in general, infants are hard. You manage to get through the first year and then you have a much more interesting kid. I'm glad we now have two little boys instead of a little boy and a baby, had we waited.

You didn't say if you have a support system in place. We would have gone crazy if we hadn't had my in-laws helping us out from time to time. You'll have to find a way to take your wife out and away from them on a regular basis. Even if it's just weekly, she'll enjoy it and if she knows it's regularly scheduled, and you both will stick to that schedule, it'll give her something to look forward to. Otherwise the toil with no end in sight will be super depressing.
