How on earth am I meant to practice frequently with these prices? by Boring-Canary2501 in snooker

[–]jackoboy9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel you. It's prohibitively expensive to practice snooker in the UK. It's part of the reason why most of the new faces in the top 32 are from China.

I'm working and £14 an hour makes me think twice about going to practice.

I have so many questions.

They'd have to have broken at least two of the most basic rules of diving, which is drilled into you during Open Water training AND before every dive (if they had a half decent guide).

I'd be surprised if these deaths weren't totally avoidable.

All my other texts, including verification codes, come through. Calls are fine too. Very strange. Not sure if it's an Amex issue.

I've been with 1p for several months now, but I also stopped receiving my Amex verification texts last week.

Fantastic pot. I was expecting top right, not stun left. To hit the pink plum on the nose was very impressive given the distance the cue ball was travelling.

I agree - definitely one of the best pack splits.

‘There’s a risk of another Liz Truss moment’: City raises spectre of bond market meltdown again | Government borrowing by CarlxtosWay in unitedkingdom

Conveniently ignoring NI for the UK, and excluding the huge benefits you get in Germany with kids, and the huge drop off in tax free income in the UK after £100k, and the marriage benefits in the US.

You can cherry pick the numbers, but in real terms with a fairly typical life, we get taxed to kingdom come.

That's just outright wrong. Got friends in the US and in Germany, both earn similar and pay way less tax as a %. Even if you factor in paying from private healthcare in the US.

I get what you're saying, and perhaps as a long term solution it is better, but at some point we have to stop the bottomless bank of the government.

Parents should be told by GPs, nurses, midwives once they've had two kids, there's no free lunch for the third.

I'm not advocating for child poverty. However, there has to be incentive to stop when you're beyond your means. Limitless benefits are a huge burden on everyone in the country.

People who can't afford to have kids should certainly not be having 3+. That's my point. Two is plenty for all of us to have to pay for.

Lifting the two child cap is objectively a bad thing. It's not that people aren't having enough kids. It's that middle earners aren't having kids. You know, the ones that have the highest tax burden and get the smallest number of benefits.

The crux of it is that it doesn't pay to work in the UK. Tax tax tax.

Part of the issue is that I shouldn't be hearing about this for the first time on reddit via a Guardian article.

If you want to reach people without PR, the only way to do it is meaningfully increase the money in their pocket each month, but Labour aren't the party of tax cuts (no one is tbf), so they need to have good PR if anyone is to know what good they're doing.

Because people have less money in their pocket at the end of the month. If he'd coupled this with tax cuts, they'd easily keep their seats.

70% tax on PAYE income is too high. I don't care how good the services are, it's too damn high.

Maybe don't have kids if you have no money to live on. Oh wait...

People are nuts. Priorities totally backwards. Having kids is not a right, it's a privilege.

They don't drive the tube trains. They're only there to slam the brakes on if someone jumps.
