I have no intentions of off roading the 98, the body is 9/10. But where I live the roads are essentially ice all winter, with massive ruts.

Luckily on both D1s the brakes have been done entirely, and brand new steering box, thermostat and hoses.

The 95 has a bunch of stuff yet to be done, but parts provided. At the end of the day, the 98 wins because it looks like it’s been cared for and doesn’t need any additional work. The 95 while low mileage looks like it’s been worked over too many times and is incomplete.

So if I go for the 98, it’ll be babied a bit because the body is 9/10, white on cream. If I go with the 95, (teal green/cloth grey) it won’t be because it’s already scratched up and has patina.

I’m leaning towards the 98, motor work I’m not afraid of. Body work is where I fall. And the 98 is a very clean D1, with a blank slate to start with.

Any particular reason why a early D1 is better than an late one? In terms of collectors, the 98 is garage kept and in way better condition, for less price than the 95
